To the thread:
Just for your information: I am a WASP -- a White Anglo-Saxon Protestant.

The state of Connecticut abolished the Death Penalty and their Supreme Court gave several reasons why they did. Here is one of their reasons:

Start quote.
It confronted a long, consistent record of unfairness:
"What has not changed is that, throughout every period of our state’s history, the death penalty has been imposed disproportionately on those whom society has marginalized socially, politically, and economically: people of color, the poor and uneducated, and unpopular immigrant and ethnic groups. It always has been easier for us to execute those we see as inferior or less intrinsically worthy."
End quote

______________

My question to the thread is Do you believe that the Connecticut Supreme Court spoke the truth up there? Do you disagree with what they wrote? If you do disagree, why do you disagree?

personally NO i dont we have so many die hard liberal judges changing the direction and laws of our land. if one kills a person in cold premeditated murder if found guilty and the court examines all evidence state and federal level. they deserve the death penalty for the record i am just a country boy country ways that lives in MO . it takes close to 20 years for the death penalty to be executed some longer . i had a buddy shot by his step dad 5 times point blank in the back. the man got ten years 2nd degree murder . because the mom spoke in a interview frank was scared of him. my buddy had his 8 year old son on his lap. when the man went and got his automatic 22 riffle . my buddy knowing what he was going to do . pushed his son off his lap to go outside and run.. as he got up try to get cover he shot him in the shoulder twice dropped him then 5 shots in the back.. and yes i have family murdered in 1973 shot execution style . the mom dad shot in the temple by a 38 caliber pistol . the oldest daughter asked to kneel to pray. shot in the back of the head .yes is support the death penalty %100

I agree with you.
Just two comments:

1. Many prison officials do not do their job properly. They must get tired of dealing with this type of person....the type that is hard-hearted and has little sympathy for others. I do believe that they have a very difficult job and it even changes them a bit if they are to do it. Kind of like a doctor and his relationship to a patient and how some distance must be kept.

2. I also believe that some are so evil that they are beyond help. Some have mental problems, some are asocial, etc. But they don't deserve to die either. But not everyone could be helped to become a good person, as you've listed above.

Wondering,

Good points up there. Thanks for posting those comments.

"I also believe that some are so evil that they are beyond help."___Wondering

There are indeed some people out there that are, at present,
animalistic and behave like wild crazed rabid animals. I certainly
do not believe that every single human being on the planet is
salvageable. There are even a few actual cannibals locked up
in America's prisons for the criminally insane.

" But not everyone could be helped to become a good person, as you've listed above."__Wondering

Agreed.

I earlier mentioned Karla Faye Tucker:
Karla Fay Tucker was one that was truly evil. She killed two people with
a pick axe and later said that she experienced sexual pleasure from killing
them. But all is well that ends well --- and Karla Faye Tucker became, in
prison, a true born again Christian who had a glowing testimony with
everybody who knew her. She at least was given time to change and
repent before the state of Texas killed her. So again there are no easy
"cut and dried" solutions to this issue.
`

I sure do NOT have all the answers, not even 1/2 the answers. I am like a lot of people in that I desire to help as many people as I can, anytime I can, and every time I can, in every way I can. Doing that is how I understand the Principle Of Love as taught in the New Testament.

I see a difference between murdering a murderer and safeguarding our nation and our rights which might cause a war. Even God agreed with wars. But did he EVER agree with murder??

I don't think so.
In War I can shoot an enemy combat even if he's unarmed all he has to do is me and uniform and he's not surrendering or injured fleeing felon can be shot on sight

As I suspected, the court is giving liberal OPINION about the death penalty, purely political reasons.

Is God ever wrong?

The issue is not if they are liberal or conservative. The issue is are they correct or incorrect when they said the following?

My view is that they are clearly and obviously correct. Poor people and people of color and the uneducated cannot afford to hire a "dream team" of lawyers like wealthy educated people can hire --- so the majority of human beings killed by the state are the poor, the minorities, and the uneducated.

Tom: I have God on my side.

Anytime God is on your side, you of course will always be right in everything you say.

God ordained government but does not determine what type of government a country has.
But do we follow the government as it is or do we have to adhere to our conscience?
You brought up the idea that God instituted government and so we should follow it's dictates.
Do you believe this or did we just go off-track?

I don't believe we are to follow an evil government or laws that oppose our beliefs as Christians.

And I really still don't understand WHERE or WHEN God instituted a governement.

I just want to magnify your point about poor persons not getting the same legal help --- the Dream Team, as you put it --- even though we are SUPPOSED to be equal under the law and Lady Justice is blind.

It doesn't work out this way in real life.

A fleeing felon can be shot on sight?
I don't have enough knowledge to address your post.
But then why do cops always get into trouble when shooting someone??

The national guard can shoot anyone during an emergency who trespass in public safety areas,of power plants ,water plants ,hospital

Also you can't ignore your problem of clear statements by God on capital offenses.

Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live..he that commits adultery shall die.he that dishonored his parents will be stoned to death.

Yet nothing on personal self defense ,or war outside of what isreal is to do with the locals.

Capital offense laws isn't murder in all cases.

what, what?
What do you mean "I CAN'T IGNORE CLEAR STATEMENTS BY GOD ON CAPITAL OFFENSES"....

A witch should die?
An adulterer should die?
Dishonoring parents deserves death?

Please clarify what you stated.

In the Torah given Moses, those are commands.

God allows and called those commands murder ?

Oh....
I'm not getting into this discussion again.

But, yes, that would be murder....
and God said not to murder in the 10 commandments...

So I leave you to figure it out.

Every country has the government it deserves.
Just happened on your post by chance.
First...welcome to the forum.

Second...how does a "country" have the government it deserves?
A country is made up of persons.
Sometimes persons get who they DO NOT deserve.

That's kind of like saying that a person that gets a tumor deserves it somehow.

Cuba voted for Castro because they THOUGHT they were getting a good leader that they trusted and to get rid of a communist one. And look what happened! How were they supposed to know?

The U.S. is very lucky....we came really close to becoming a socialist country.
Would we have deserved it? Just because the young get carried away by thinking things could be free....

Is God ever wrong?

Most people think God is wrong a lot. In this case, everyone against the DP thinks God is wrong on the issue. Those same everyone have no compassion or love for the innocent, of whom are killed by the thousands upon thousands every year.

You're replying to a "quote" of mine which is questionable.

It states....
IS GOD EVER WRONG

Could you please post my entire statement so we don't have to deal with the same problem newspaper writer's use to misquote persons they have interviewed?

Also, You never responded to my question to you....
I asked you what you understand justice to be.

So, as of right now...
I cannot answer to your post at all.
