When Revival Comes

I'm a strong believer that revival starts within oneself to be Spiritually prepared to be that faithful servant of the Lord to continue in that massive commission of taking His Gospel message of His mercy and grace out into the world. When we learn to completely die to self and pick up our cross then we follow in His footsteps as we let the light of Christ shine through us so that others will see the greatest love we need to have for one another.

Col 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
Col 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
Col 3:3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
Col 3:4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

That poem at #60 expresses my own calling - which being a rod to my own back and to the body of Christ is not a simple a matter as always speaking and desiring the revival of the individual - be that as a provocation to personal obedience of an individual - rather it is to an end of the many in Christ who are yet fleshy and carnal (immature). What I look for is revival of God that will produce corporate obedience seeing as so many injuries have left us with wounds that will not heal. That said, your election is the more visible portion and so the easiest to grasp. Even then that more pastoral emphasis is often not easily received either.

Addendum

I believe that I felt led to post here having read the forum for several months as a new member before posting because in part I have read some wonderful and honest accounts of believers who have shared in simplicity their own lives and difficulties and often express at the same time their hope in Christ with a sound understanding that our victory is in Him and not in ourselves precisely unless Christ is formed in us. That seems to be what you have said and I rejoice in that.

I don't have the time to watch your videos but do agree with much of what you say. Your postings are very important and we need this outpouring of the Holy Spirit that Joel prophesied and confirmed by Luke in Acts as revival is about to come in these latter days.

Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
Joel 2:29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.
Joel 2:30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.
Joel 2:31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.
Joel 2:32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.

Acts 2:16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
Acts 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
Acts 2:18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
Acts 2:19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:
Acts 2:20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:
Acts 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

How can you associate the coming of the Spirit in (Acts 2:16) with (Joel 2:28) and then say we should expect the revival in these, our latter days?

The short videos I have posted here have no ministry content. It is the written word that is given freely. So if you have no time to view a few three minute videos then it seems likely that you will have even less time to read pages of text Neither have or do I say anything about the prophecy of Joel. It does not concern me at all. Still we press on and do so because there can be no excuse when judgement comes upon the household of God.

I do want to go back and watch them as I should have said I do not have time right now as we have company for the next two weeks and I can not give the videos my full attention right now.

No problem sister. No condemnation intended. I was simply making myself clear. I hope the company proves edifying. When we have company over my wife either cooks porridge or else I cook a four course meal. Guess who does the cooking?

How about crawling across what seemed like miles and years of broken glass to get to the cross, daily if required?
It's only the Lord that has sustained me...and kept me sane. The result?

I died, He lives, and dwells inside of me.
I am finally assured of eternity.
He never left my side, not even when I died.
He was with me in the dark...right by my side
Faithful...is His name! Hallelujah! tc

I only gave the verses in Joel and Acts to show how revival comes by the increasing of the Holy Spirit in the end of days. Maybe I should just bow out of this thread.

I don't think so sister. (in red above).

The part fulfilment of the prophecy of Joel in Acts has given many brethren ammunition to argue over its meaning to a point of war. Many brethren have been hurt and so churches are often divided just on the implication of that meaning. So if someone expressly starts to post on revival then it isn't at all surprising for others to see a connection between the prophecy of Joel (the latter rain) and the Day of Pentecost. In short we are in the time of the latter rain.

That seems especially significant because the Lord commanded the disciples to wait for power from on high. That meaning of power is precisely what separated the meaning of the Gospel of the Kingdom of Heaven from the Gospel of Grace. Yet they are of course unified in Christ. So many brethren will speak of Christ and thank God that they are saved by grace and others of the Power that comes with the Kingdom - whilst not neglecting the power of God - The Gospel unto salvation.

I don't think any of us can bow out because were are all in Christ. I felt that I must make a distinction in why I posted the Duncan Campbell account of the Hebridean Revival - specifically that account of the Isle of Berneray - because it speaks of something very specific and essential to the day we live in. So I believe.

Does revival come from man or does it come by the increasing power of the Holy Spirit that works through man to bring revival in the land.

Does revival come from man or does it come by the increasing power of the Holy Spirit that works through man to bring revival in the land.

Insofar as pastoral ministry is concerned then revival is chiefly the bringing of the sheep into obedience by feeding the sheep with the word of God by authority of calling and the provocation of obedience where there is a willing heart. In evangelism revival is chiefly the proclamation of the Gospel unto salvation and is both a man and the Holy Spirit. In true revival of the land then revival is a sovereign act of God - and according to what I have received and many others I know both in the Hebrides and other lands - revival is the opening up of the very heavens and an outpouring of the power of God in Fire that does not even include any man at all. 70% of the many thousands that were converted in the Hebrides Revival never even heard the Gospel being preached. So you can see why I am so keen to deflect your meaning whilst not being contentious. If you find the time to listen to the narration then please do.

Yes I saw and see them.

That occurred at Pentecost. That doesn't prove any 'revival' will occur today.

That's only your opinion. The purpose of me giving those scriptures in Joel and Acts was to show the prophecy that Joel gave was fulfilled at Pentecost, but also a greater outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the latter days. Personally I see no great revival like those tent revivals, but that of a revival of the Holy Spirit within man.

I see a wave, perhaps a thousand-foot wave, of the Spirit.
It growing larger, it's getting nearer, oh can't you see it, straight ahead!

I've been in revival, alone in my room, since last year. He is amazing!
He loves me, He likes being with me, He thinks I'm funny! He is my best friend!

I think the point which you are making here, which I have taken the liberty to highlight in red is an important distinction to make. It may see somewhat obvious to say what you have said, if as you qualify, " I see no great revival like those tent revivals" - because after all, how can the Lord permit His body to remain in the condition that it is presently found in many places. And so if a revival is to be the answer in the sense of what Norman has described then that sovereign act of God - lets say a great wave for simplicity - were the character of how the Father will revive the Saints, how will that of itself prove obedience of the Saints or else demonstrate any element of the bride making herself ready for the Lamb? Being found worthy of the Lord is an important truth to grasp. No one can be found worthy of the Lord at His return unless they have laboured by faith and endured the test of obedience.

Php 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
Php 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
Php 2:14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
Php 2:15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

In these verses above we are to work out our own salvation once we are Spiritually born again from above and indwelled with the Holy Spirit. We are to be holy and blameless before the Lord waiting upon His return. Meanwhile it is up to us who are called and anointed by the Holy Spirit to take the Gospel of God's mercy and grace out into the world. This is why I said revival needs to start within ourself as we get out of our comfort zones and be about our Fathers business.

I...can see a wave...on the horizon. x2
It's growing larger...it's getting nearer...oh can't you see it straight ahead?
I...can see a wave...the harvest wave!

What's the Spirit saying? What's the Spirit doing?
What's the Spirit bringing in our day?
Hear the Spirit saying. See the spirit doing.
This is what the Spirit's bringing in this wave!

Apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers...
To prepare the saints of God for works of service...
That the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity...
In the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God...and become mature!!! tc

I again saw this wave, but this time it was really close. All I could see was the wave wall. In it I saw Donald Trump and an F-18 fighter. I wrote the above song 20 years ago. I don't expect anyone to accept anything I say. I'm just putting it out there. Shalom.
