Irresistible Grace

I stands for irresistible grace, which refers to God’s loving power in salvation. Essentially, it says that if God loves you and wants you in His family, He is going to get you. He loves you so much that He will ensure that you come to faith, and He is powerful enough to guarantee your faith.

Let’s examine the core meaning of Irresistible Grace which is summed up in this phrase …

  • if God loves you and wants you in His family,

Jesus plainly says that God loves the world, and desires for them to be saved, to have eternal life, which clearly means He wants everyone to be a part of His family; to be His children.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

God loves us before we are born again.

In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 1 John 4:10

And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. 1 John 2:2

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. John 3:17

God loves the unsaved people of the world and desires for them to be saved and be His child.

For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2:3-4

The truth is God loves you and I.

He loved us while we were unsaved sinners.

Jesus Christ was sent into the world that the world through might become saved a be in the family of God.

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.
Acts 16:31

The doctrine of Irresistible Grace is not biblical.

God loves the unsaved people of the world and desires for them to be saved.

God loves the unsaved people of the world and desires for them to be saved.
Here are two passages that actually tell us about God's desire, pleasure

Isaiah 46:10 Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, 'My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure,'

Isaiah 55:11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

Your interpretation of certain verses makes God a liar. He accomplishes what He desires, but He certainly does not accomplish the salvation of "all the unsaved people of the world."

Even before Jesus came and gave His life a ransom for many, there were millions that perished like those in Sodom and Gomorrah.

Irresistible grace:
Ezekiel 36:26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.

Irresistible Grace is premised on the work of Christ versus the work of Adam, the death that Adam effected is overcome by the Grace Christ effected by His Obedience, and so through Him Grace reigns, and is more irresistible than death Rom 5:21

21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

Now is death irresistible ? Grace much more !

Yes the Holy Spirit in us is the power to walk in obedience to God.

The way we receive this amazing gift is to obey the Gospel.

Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.” Acts 2:38-39

It’s for EVERYONE.

The way we receive this amazing gift is to obey the Gospel.

Absolutely false and contrary to scripture. The Ezekiel passage the poster just showed you proves you contrary, the obedience follows the giving of the Spirit Ezk 36:26-27

26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
And Peter writes the same thing 1 Pet 1:2

2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience
and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

You teaching man exalting false doctrine friend

Absolutely false and contrary to scripture.

Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38

Plain and clear instructions from scripture.

Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. 2 Timothy 2:10

The only way for the elect to be saved is the same for everyone else.

Repent at the preaching of the Gospel.

Acts 2:38 Peter was talking to the elect regenerated jews, repentance is part of the obedience 1 Pet 1:2

2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

The Gift of the Hoy Spirit there isn't regeneration, regeneration takes place in the inner man.

The Spirit causes obedience, stop all this man exalting foolishness

God loves the unsaved people of the world and desires for them to be saved.
Let's look at all the passages John uses the word "world," not just the ones you quote, JLB.

Jhn_1:9 The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.
Jhn_1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him.

Jhn_1:29 The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

Jhn_3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Jhn_3:17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Jhn_3:19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil.

Jhn_4:42 They said to the woman, “It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this is indeed the Savior of the world.”

Jesus' salvation is sufficient for the whole world but only efficient for the elect, according to Ephesian 1:3-6:

Eph 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places,
Eph 1:4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love
Eph 1:5 he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will,
Eph 1:6 to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.

Paul writes to the saints in Ephesus (verse 1) that God's choice of them for salvation is according his will to bring praise to his glorious grace, which is his blessing because he loves us (verse 6). That is his irresistible grace, which the majority of the "world" doesn't know or accept. That group will, sadly, be exiled from God's world.

The reason God doesn't save the whole world instead of just some of us must be a very good one, but he hasn't revealed it to us in his Word. It is one of the many mysteries of God's revelation.

It’s for EVERYONE.
Yes, "everyone" as many as the Lord our God will call.” Acts 2:38-39

Romans 9:23 and that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory, 24 even us whom He called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?

If every single person is called, why does Paul even put it that way "even us whom He called?" Isn't everybody called?

1 Corinthians 1:23 but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, 24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

Again, Paul is differentiating (Differentiating means to show or find the difference between things that are compared) between those Jews who are stumbling and Gentiles who are foolish compared to those who are called. If everybody is called, it makes no sense.

2 Thessalonians 2:14 to which He called you by our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Were American Indians and Australian Aborigines called by Paul's gospel? The gospel probably never reached those places for over 1,000 years after Paul was dead.

The words of Jesus:
Matthew 22:14 "For many are called, but few are chosen."

For many are called (invited), but few (puny in extent, degree, number, duration or value) are chosen (eklektos = select; by implication favorite)

Why doesn't Jesus say "all without exception are called" but few cooperate by believing or something like that?

The reason God doesn't save the whole world instead of just some of us must be a very good one, but he hasn't revealed it to us in his Word. It is one of the many mysteries of God's revelation.
I think He has revealed it but some don't want to accept it cause that seems to make God a tyrant.

Romans 9:22 What if God, wanting to show His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath prepared for destruction,

Proverbs 16:4 The LORD has made everything for its purpose, even the wicked for the day of trouble.

Exodus 14:17 And I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they shall go in after them, and I will get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, his chariots, and his horsemen.

The Lord glorifies Himself by showing His wrath on the wicked. It says that the Lord hardened the hearts of the Egyptians so (for this purpose) they will go in after them and He could drown them all.

Exodus 15:1 Then Moses and the people of Israel sang this song to the LORD, saying, “I will sing to the LORD, for he has triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea.
Exo 15:2 The LORD is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise him, my father's God, and I will exalt him.
Exo 15:3 The LORD is a man of war; the LORD is his name.
Exo 15:4 “Pharaoh's chariots and his host he cast into the sea, and his chosen officers were sunk in the Red Sea.
Exo 15:5 The floods covered them; they went down into the depths like a stone.
Exo 15:6 Your right hand, O LORD, glorious in power, your right hand, O LORD, shatters the enemy.
Exo 15:7 In the greatness of your majesty you overthrow your adversaries; you send out your fury; it consumes them like stubble.
Exo 15:8 At the blast of your nostrils the waters piled up; the floods stood up in a heap; the deeps congealed in the heart of the sea.
Exo 15:9 The enemy said, ‘I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil, my desire shall have its fill of them. I will draw my sword; my hand shall destroy them.’
Exo 15:10 You blew with your wind; the sea covered them; they sank like lead in the mighty waters.
Exo 15:11 “Who is like you, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?

I don't think Moses believed that God loves everybody and wants all men to be saved.

I think there’s a misunderstanding about Calvinism…

It isn’t a super special sort of Christianity…

It is Christianity plain and simple.

I got genuinely saved after a diy sinner’s prayer while on bond facing 15 years in prison. On the surface it was yet another “loser getting religion.”

12 years later my life is vastly improved. My faith is still growing and my life bears witness to Jesus Christ and His mercy towards His sheep 🐑.

And that’s the thing…

The sheep know His voice and nothing can snatch a single one from His hand…

But it’s not the individual who chooses to believe and keeps on believing somehow growing ever more iron willed in their chosen commitment to Christ.

I came to my senses because Christ called me to believe upon Him and be saved. I’m not special now and I certainly wasn’t special then…

It’s mercy it’s God’s good pleasure His inscrutable will…

His word will not return void.

Believe is the condition that is required for a person to be saved.

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:14-15

  • A person must believe, in order to be saved.

Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.
1 Corinthians 15:1-2

  • A person must continue to believe in order to continue to be save.

Jesus makes these two points clear -

Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. Luke 8:12-13

  • lest they should believe and be saved.

Believe = saved.

  • who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away.

These in this group did believe with the joy of salvation but when persecution came to them because they were saved, they no longer believe; they did not continue to believe, but fell away.

Believe for a while = saved for a while.

The reason the whole world will not be saved, is because not everyone will believe.

They that dont believe was because Christs Death wasnt for them, they believe not because they were none of His Sheep He died for Jn 1026

26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.

Christs Death must first save a person before they can believe in Him.

The reason the whole world will not be saved, is because not everyone will believe.
And a lot of the reason why not everyone will believe is because they have not heard the gospel.
You cannot believe the gospel if you have not heard it.

1 Corinthians 1:21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.

I got this off of ChatGPT:
As of 2025, estimates indicate that approximately 42% of the world's population, or about 3.4 billion people, have never heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The majority of those who have not heard the Gospel reside in the "10/40 Window," a region spanning from North Africa to East Asia, which includes the largest concentration of unreached people groups.

In these areas, individuals often lack access to Christian resources, churches, or even contact with believers.

Despite these challenges, Christianity continues to grow globally, with current figures showing over 2.64 billion Christians worldwide, accounting for approximately one-third of the global population.

However, the distribution of Christian resources and missionary efforts remains uneven, with a significant portion directed toward regions where Christianity is already established.

If God desires all men everywhere to be saved, why doesn't God give prophets to all these people so they can hear the gospel and be saved?
He did it for the Jews.

Psalm 78:5 For He established a testimony in Jacob, And appointed a law in Israel, Which He commanded our fathers, That they should make them known to their children;

Yes, "everyone" as many as the Lord our God will call.” Acts 2:38-39

Was Jesus crucified?

And a lot of the reason why not everyone will believe is because they have not heard the gospel.
You cannot believe the gospel if you have not heard it.

Of course.

How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed?
And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?
Romans 10:14

And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself.” John 12:32
And if you will peek at the end of the Bible you will see that all kinds of men are actually drawn to Christ.

Rev 5:9 And they sang a new song, saying: "You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,

I think your Calvinism derangement syndrome keeps you from rightly dividing the word of truth.

Thats Salvation, are you an universalist ? The drawn are saved

Please show me the scripture that says those who Jesus is drawing are saved.
