I appreciate all our effort in creating threads or replying to posts. However, certain posts or threads kind of make me wanna run away from reading them. These: I dread long posts:) I wish all could write like reba...always straight to the point. Also, a posts that has many bible quotes kind of gets me scared:shocked. What other things do you find kind of irritating in a post???

I dread writing long posts worse than you dread reading them!

I dread short posts where people put on a "Thus sayeth the Lord..." attitude but don't put in the effort to show us exactly where and how the Lord sayeth "thus"... Too many times it's because the Lord never actually said it. But nevertheless I will try to keep mine short today. :-)

Ahh, you find yourself in the same boat as I! Usually those types of posts are strung with other scriptures to form a line of thought foreign to the original intent of when the passage was written...

Who are the people? :dunno :shrug :confused

How about our beloved Dora;) She has brilliant posts

I don't like the posts with the arrogant attitude. Our mission statement (found at the top of each page) says we are here to help each other grow and nurture our faith. It seems there are those who are more intent on proving themselves higher or calling everyone else out. Someone makes a statement and others are ready to pounce and label them as heretic, false teachers, etc. rather than keeping open dialogue and helping each other learn. We forget that we are all fallible. I often ask myself, "Where's the love?"

We can defend our faith without cutting down our opposition, can't we? We can correct another Christian without tearing them down, can't we? We can be open to the minuscule possibility that we might need correction, can't we?

Or we can learn to control ourselves and learn when to back out... I don't like the feeling I get when I argue a point, or belabor a point especially when what I write isn't taken as intended and I find myself writing the same thing only in numerous ways hoping to articulate myself more clearly only to become more frustrated. For some of us, it's a matter of just not knowing when to shut up.

Photos/avatars of the people posting, make it more interesting, too: your new photo's background doesn't look like Michigan...

(Maybe it's some place on the Upper Peninsula, though...)

Blessings.

I used to be a truck driver and I loved going over the mountains. Lookout Pass is the boarder between Montana and Idaho. A few years ago my son and I drove back to Washington and climbed to the summit where this picture was taken. It was pretty cool and a baby moose came wandering by which scared me cause I knew momma was somewhere around adn I'm not messing with a momma moose.

Anyway, I always liked spending time on that mountain.. Not sure why, but I just did. When I lived in Spokane, I used to drive to Lookout pass just to go there.

I go with this. What annoys me more also is when someone posts a verse or 2 but nothing else. I find myself screaming "WHY HAVE YOU POSTED THIS WITH NO CONTEXT??????"

S: Oh okay. Good mountain/woodland scenes, anyway; more Rockies than Midwest. I think handy and family are out Idaho way, anyway.

Maybe liberal use of smilies?:dunno

I like the posts without guile. When someone has something to say or is looking for advice without some other agenda (being right or smarter or whatever). After all what do you get from winning arguments? A chance to pat yourself on the back? I like the people on here who know more than me and say appropriate stuff to encourage growth and understanding. Danus and some mods come to mind. I like learning stuff from Tri Unity and some of his posts are awesome and I think church history is interesting. I like the people who encourage and build relationships Farouk and Air Dancer come to mind. Lots more good than bad on here which is why I never left.

Naming names :)

(Embarrassment...)

I dread mediaeval-ish King James style English Bible quotes. It takes me five times as long as modern English to read and understand.
I know for many native English speakers it sounds very poetic and dignified, but for a foreigner it's just an obstacle set up between me and God's message. :(
(But then it's me that chose to post in an English forum, so it's my own fault I guess....)

Claudya:

I guess it also depends on where in the King James you quote from. For example, John chapter one in the King James is in simple and clear language.

I guess you use the Luther 1912 or 1956, in German?

Yeah, Handy lives in the mountains too. Nice area for sure! Not all of Idaho has mountains just like not all of Washington rains a lot lol! Well, I don't want to rail the thread, but Ontario is pretty nice too. I've been up there twice.

Claudya,
Don't worry about the KJV because it even gets me once in awhile lol. I trust it more for reference in study, but my daily reader and where I spend my time is in the NIV.
