How to get people to really enjoy a post/thread.

I don't like the "Holier than Thou" post that puts others beliefs down without even seeing why or how they believe what they do. We are to discuss what we believe and have respect for what others believe even though we might not always agree with each other, but need to walk in love of each other.

for his glory:

Yes. it's been said that when we point the finger, a few other fingers are actually pointed back in one's own direction...

This is why it can be hard for the preacher, sometimes: he proclaims something that applies to the audience, but in fact he is, and should be, all too aware that it applies in the first instance to himself.

(What is your impression of the King James, BTW - as per reba's comments. Can't remember if I have asked you.)

Blessings.

Hehe, good to know that native speakers struggle with it, too. It seems to me, that the 1611 King James translation is further away from today's English than Luther's 1545 German translation is from modern German. Maybe your language has come a longer way since the middle ages.

Many of our KJV is the 1769 version with more modern text to it then that of the 1611 which I also have online, but very hard to understand the old style English. I also like the Jerusalem Bible to study from.

Stove, We found our baby and mamma moose in northern idaho. We thought we were a safe distance away. Bably was poking his ears up
through the tall reeds like a jack rabbit. Suddenly Momma appeared about 50' behind my hubby. He ran for the car while I backed up to
meet him and we got out of there. Meanwhile mamma disappeared into the sparse trees. No underbrush. It is still a mystery to me how something so large can disappear so fast. It was like the time we saw a large herd of elk disappear into sparse timber. Where can they
possibly hide? We were only about 75 feet away.

As you can see, we wern't more than 20 feet from the baby and he was coming toward us. My son thought it was the neatest thing and he wanted to pet it. The baby probably would have if I hadn't shoed it off. There wasn't really anywhere to run if Momma would have showed up... and she did later on.

Your probably familiar with Lo Lo pass. I used to haul out of Potlach (Lewiston) all the time and we've got stopped several times on that pass because they were just standing in the road, and I've been warned NOT to honk at them. It just irritates them. Semi's have been known to get attacked for honking at them.

When I lived in Spokane, it seemed every year a moose would find its way into the city. I remember one year when one made his home in a nursery until it ate so much it was costing the nursery.

Reba, I can't tell you how many times I've hauled grain into Grangeville....

No one has time to be told they don't believe what Jesus said simply because they have a different interpretation. Maybe they are simply incorrect, or maybe, just maybe, YOU are incorrect.

Not "you", reba. :lol

ohh Mike, your going to Hell for that! :D

My first time there will be in May... It is Mothers day, mom went with our brother.... the weather should be ok here, so we can leave the house with out it freezing ... I want to see the area ! Family etc!

He is one of the Doctors at the hospital there..

Lo Lo Pass: sounds a good name, anyway. I think it must be near the old, historic Wells Fargo route, anyway.

I'd like to visit one day; we'll see, anyway.

And Hells Canyon runs from Lewiston to Baker City OR, approximately. or the border between WA, OR and ID. We lived in Lewiston for a short while.

Lewiston is a nice town, but I always wondered how you all put up with Potlatch. Wow! That was pretty intense. When I hauled tanker, I used to deliver to Potlatch once a week.

Or is that why you only lived there a sort while LOL!

Well, have fun! Not much around, not really even any pretty mountains from what I remember. Your really out in the sticks!

reba: Hope it's good for you guys; you can still have snow in May in some places...(says he, from north of the border).

Blessings.

I don't know about the Wells Fargo Route, maybe part of the Lewis and Clark Trail though. Can't remember if Lewis and Clark went that way or stayed farther south. I do know they wen't through Lewistion.

I would haul Lumber from Lewiston to the East Coast and I'd go 95 to hwy 12. Lolo pass is a very steep grade. I actually pulled another semi up that hill from a dead stop. We were both right at 80,000 lbs. State trooper didn't even think I could do it. I had an old Cummins 335 punched out and running hot. Had a 13 speed with 520 gears. Yup, got 160,000 lbs rolling from a dead stop on a steep hill (I think it's steeper than 6%) and pulled it almost a mile to the top where we could get it out of the way.

Well, interesting. Sounds like a tough but rewarding route, anyway.

Like a lot of folk I've driven on the I-95, though not as far west as you have.

Haha! I 95 is not the same as hwy 95. Interstates that run north and south end in odd numbers. Example

Would be I 5 runs from ca. To wa. The further you go, the higher the number. I 75 is to the east of I 5 and 95 is urther east than 775.

Same goes with east and west interstates. I 10 goes through ca, az, nm texas. 40 goes through the middle and 90 is up noth.

Never looked into the Jerusalem Bible. So I just read up on it and learned that J.R.R. Tolkien contributed to it by translating the book of Jonah. I found it on the internet somewhere, it's really a beautifull translation!

Claudya:

I think its head translator or contribtor was Monsignor Alexander Jones. An able team was used to do it, I think. I reckon it does also need to be borne in mind that in places Roman Catholic presuppositions may appear in the Jerusalem Bible.

Interestingly, the son of J R R Tolkien was a monk.
