How to get people to really enjoy a post/thread.

I like it when Claudya posts, because I get to see my favorite avatar on the board another time. Claudya, that picture looks like it could be a poster for a movie! :thumbsup
Ohh that's awesome! :lol I would certainly be the villain of that movie! :swords
BTW, I would lose that NWT you own and stick to the real thing. just sayin'...
I'd hate to throw a Bible away, even if it's a strange one. But I don't use it a lot nowadays, and if I do I take it with a grain of salt.
And although the teachings of Jehova's Witnesses may be wrong, the effort they make going from door to door, trying to tell people about God, is admirable. Wish us "normal" Christians had the enthusiasm and endurance for that kind of work. So I have some respect for them.

Claudya:

A Christ-less Bible is strictly speaking a contradiction in terms.

Paul to the Romans speaks of those who have 'a zeal...but not according to knowledge' (Romans 10.2). The zeal which you mention can be a challenge to effort on the part of those who do seek to declare the 'whole counsel of God' (Acts 20.27) and the love to sinners by the glorious Son of God and Savior.

Yeah, Handy lives in the mountains too. Nice area for sure! Not all of Idaho has mountains just like not all of Washington rains a lot lol! Well, I don't want to rail the thread, but Ontario is pretty nice too. I've been up there twice.

Claudya,
Don't worry about the KJV because it even gets me once in awhile lol. I trust it more for reference in study, but my daily reader and where I spend my time is in the NIV.

Stovebolts: Maybe there's particularly a lot of tattoo parlors in Idaho, too, because handy said that several (middle aged) women at her local church have decided to have it done. Though I'm sure it's not unusual any more.

I do like the KJV myself and use it a lot. A lot of the Bible study helps that there are, whether printed, or on the Web, are based on the KJV.

(A lot of the commentaries also.)

Blessings.

I am truly sorry if I offend you all. My posts have been long and rambling, sometimes with no real subject. My husband always insists I
get to the point, too. Oh, well. I will try to remember that there are guys like him on this forum.
And I really try not to accuse people but try to warn them that they have chosen treacherous, dead end roads.
But I do feel convicted to the core because I totally lack tact.
Now that I have my new glasses I will try to look up the references.
I don't remember verse numbers. Please accept my appologies.

Stove, We found our baby and mamma moose in northern idaho. We thought we were a safe distance away. Bably was poking his ears up
through the tall reeds like a jack rabbit. Suddenly Momma appeared about 50' behind my hubby. He ran for the car while I backed up to
meet him and we got out of there. Meanwhile mamma disappeared into the sparse trees. No underbrush. It is still a mystery to me how something so large can disappear so fast. It was like the time we saw a large herd of elk disappear into sparse timber. Where can they
possibly hide? We were only about 75 feet away.

Great story, Carolyn! :)

Sounds like all sorts of interesting things happen in Idaho.

Blessings.

Carolyn, My brother just moved to Grangeville.... up wards Lewiston....

Hehe, good to know that native speakers struggle with it, too. It seems to me, that the 1611 King James translation is further away from today's English than Luther's 1545 German translation is from modern German. Maybe your language has come a longer way since the middle ages.
I,too have made some very opinionated statements about KJV. I speak western USA, and KJV is not written in my native tongue! But I don't
like Shakespear either.

reba: Is this Lewiston, NY? I've been there; a very interesting and historic village on the Niagara River.

Blessings.

Nope Idaho

I love the KJ cause Dad always read it and I am used to hearing it... Scripture quotes for another translation just don't sound Biblical :)

I was just saying this to some people. ;)

Here is my latest pet-peeve... When some members have the audacity to post that someone doesn't believe Jesus or scripture because they interpret the Word differently. That is a ludicrous thing to imply.

And Hells Canyon runs from Lewiston to Baker City OR, approximately. or the border between WA, OR and ID. We lived in Lewiston for a short while.

reba:

Oh okay, sorry. Yes, we were talking about Idaho, weren't we.

I think there's another Lewiston someplace in Maine, which is just about as far away as you can get from Idaho in the lower 48.

(Mr Ton must have been a great guy... :) )

Blessings.

Carolyn:

Sounds a great, scenic location. What a strange name! Hell's Canyon, Idaho. Kind of sounds like Teapot Dome, in Wyoming; wide open spaces and awesome nature. I saw on the map a William P. Borah Peak or something; must have been named for the Senator from there.

(Maybe you lived in there before the various tattoo parlors opened that handy in Idaho indicated several of the women at her church there have visited, though. But I should keep quiet, I guess.)

Blessings.

Your point Mike?

Your point Mike?

No one has time to be told they don't believe what Jesus said simply because they have a different interpretation. Maybe they are simply incorrect, or maybe, just maybe, YOU are incorrect.

Not "you", reba. :lol

We all boarded a train going to Struckum...suddenly the driver went towards Gaza...:dunno :shrug :confused

Yes, it has a memorability to it, doesn't it.

I don't like the "Holier than Thou" post that puts others beliefs down without even seeing why or how they believe what they do. We are to discuss what we believe and have respect for what others believe even though we might not always agree with each other, but need to walk in love of each other.
