Bible Study 71 Days in Isaiah

Day 24 Isaiah sees the downfall of Babylon. I see the future of America in Babylon.:cries
how, Babylon fell in the days of Daniel. we kinda never honestly were really a Christian nation. we had honor its values but that doesn't mean squat to god. just because a man like the torah doesn't mean he is saved

Day 25 What was lighthearted is now confusion and fear. Apparently Americans are guilty of what Jerusalem was guilty of, self salvation without a need for the living God.

1Sa 13:13 And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the LORD thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would the LORD have established thy kingdom upon Israel for ever.
1Sa 13:14 But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee.

Isa 22:21 I will clothe him with your robe and fasten your sash around him and hand your authority over to him. He will be a father to those who live in Jerusalem and to the house of Judah.
Isa_22:22 And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.

Rev 3:4 Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.
Rev 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
Rev 3:6 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
Rev 3:7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;
Rev 3:8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

Mat 21:33 Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country:
Mat 21:34 And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it.
Mat 21:35 And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.
Mat 21:36 Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise.
Mat 21:37 But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.
Mat 21:38 But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.
Mat 21:39 And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him.
Mat 21:40 When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen?
Mat 21:41 They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.
Mat 21:42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
Mat 21:43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.
Mat 21:44 And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
Mat 21:45 And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them.

Day 26 Tyre, a business center of many nations comes into judgment, then is redeemed. This reminds me of how much the USA, China, & Japan has merchandise flowing in and out, making them very prosperous without Almighty God. It's unfortunate that our Country doesn't look back to our founding fathers and see how much our Country has been blessed because of their love for God however it might have been. Today, there is no fear of God in that He might judge this Nation for expelling Him from all prominent places.

Would it be that in our darkest hour, God would send us a great Spiritual revival that would last....This is my prayer.

Day 26 - Isaiah 23:1-18 - I have nothing to add, I think both of you have covered it so well.
Chopper , I agree with you in your prayers for this nation.
reba , thank you for this scripture. The kids didn't go to church this morning. Lexy, has a sinus infection, lost her voice and didn't sleep most of the night. So she couldn't teach her Sunday school class and even as we used this parable for our church/Bible study this morning she kept falling asleep.
But Jake was listening. When I read verse 38 this is what he said, "They wanted to steal the Kingdom from Him! They coveted it."
It brought to my eyes, seeing how the Word of God can speak wisdom to so young a heart.

Blessing of the Lord to both of you, Praise the Lord Jesus

:) I really like MH's commentary. He fills in a lot of the history of what was going on, as well as his interpretation of spiritual signifigence.
you do realize that he died before the completion of his commentary. fellow pastors finished that he influenced. and did so in his name. they wanted his work and name to be spread that it was all him doing it.he also doesn't ,like Clarke take things as much to build a doctrine, they had their biases as we all but they took in the first audience and the events and context so much better then. that is why I like them. my elder who did teach theology likes the older commentaries for that reason.

Yup Jason we are influenced by what is already in our heads....
Deborah13 I read the parable sorta like this:
the first nation was natural Israel
Mat 21:43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.
Now quoting Peter
1Pe_2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

It is so cool how His Word speaks to us differently...

That is how I read it verse 43, too. We talked about that. That the 'nation' in that verse is the true Israel, all believers in Jesus the Messiah, the Church, Jew and Gentile, etc. We talked about who Abraham's Seed is and that we inherit the Kingdom because we are in Him, His Body.
So 1Peter 2:9 has now added to our study. Thank you. :)

Deu 8:19 And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish.
Deu 8:20 As the nations which the LORD destroyeth before your face, so shall ye perish; because ye would not be obedient unto the voice of the LORD your God

Deut chapter 28

Isa 24:1 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.
Isa 24:2 And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him.
Isa 24:3 The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken this word.
Isa 24:4 The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish.
Isa 24:5 The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.
Isa 24:6 Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.

Rev 6:5 And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand
Rev_6:6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.

Isa 24:7 The new wine mourneth, the vine languisheth, all the merryhearted do sigh.

Day 27 - 24:1-20

Isa 24:5 The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.

Heb 13:20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

So what I am seeing here is that as a nation when Israel rejected Jesus as their Messiah, they were rejecting the blood of the everlasting covenant.
This covenant was always between the Father and the Son. In the same way that the covenant made with Abraham was with the one Seed, not many seeds.

Heb_9:19 For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people,

When Moses sprinkle the blood of the sacrifice on the people and the book, this was a temporary (signifying) covering of the covenant blood of the everlasting covenant. Which became sealed at the cross and resurrection of the Messiah.

If anyone sees this differently, please feel free to give me your thoughts. I don't want to get off track here.
Thank you.

Day 27 Here we come to the end. The whole world lies in judgment because they failed to live by God's statues. Mankind heard these statues (covenants) from Noah, David and Moses. Yet the world devised their own set of rules, only to fail in the end. It seems to me that Revelation's tribulation finishes this story.

I don't know the answer to this question, could you give your thoughts on it and why you answer the question
the way you do.
Is the whole world and all the people in it, in the everlasting covenant that Isaiah says was broken in verse 24:5?

I have heard the phrase 'whole world" explained as the land around Israel when it is in this verse
Rom_1:8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.

My best theologian on Isaiah is Dr. Raymond C. Ortlund, The University of Aberdeen. "Human sin defiles the world in God's sight (Num 35:34) Judgment comes as the world defies God's revealed will in order to construct an alternative social order."
