Bible Study 71 Days in Isaiah

My best theologian on Isaiah is Dr. Raymond C. Ortlund, The University of Aberdeen. "Human sin defiles the world in God's sight (Num 35:34) Judgment comes as the world defies God's revealed will in order to construct an alternative social order."

Smile, is that a yes or no? Sometimes I don't get things.

IMO yes. At the time of the prophesy, yes. Could it extend to today? I believe so. The world belongs to Almighty God, in whatever century you look. Adams world was quite small. Isaiah's world was bigger. Ours is much larger. It is all under God's covenant.

Thanks Chopper.
Right now I have a leaning to agree with you. I need to pray about that.

that is futurist in nature, its feaseable but I disagree slightly why ?as an amil we have times of good years or decades and bad. Christ didn't say when he would come, just that the earth would be sin full. we don't know if at time its seemed like noah reached them and they acted ok then went south.

Day 28 Interesting that Isaiah see's Judgment on the known world at that time as well as evil angels in the heavenly realm. The earth's dwellers are defenseless against the Owner of the earth, Almighty God. The destruction of fortified cities prove that God is in control, not man and his defenses....The downtrodden always have a refuge in the Lord. The prideful have only to fear. Rejoicing or terror are the result of how man treats the Almighty. (These are my personal thoughts). Revelation Chapter 21 appears in Isaiah's prophecy.

23 The moon will be abashed, the sun ashamed; for the LORD Almighty will reign on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, and before its elders, gloriously.

Heb 12:18 For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest,
Heb 12:22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,
Heb 12:23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,

6 On this mountain the LORD Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine-- the best of meats and the finest of wines

Rev 6:4 And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.
Rev 6:5 And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.
Rev 6:6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.

Day 28 - 24:21-25:12

Isa 25:7 And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations.
2Co 3:13 And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:
2Co 3:15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.

Isa 25:8 He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.
Rev 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

often when reads isiah and revalation theres a lot of this that you will see.

Day 29 According to Dr. Ortlund, "Chapter 26 shifts from past, present, and future."

My favorite is v.3&4, in that peace is what so many hurting folk need today. Being a Christian Psychologist for so many years, I have recommended John 14:27 as a prescription for so many issues that those coming for help really need. Peace for some never come because they are relying on the wrong things. Trust in the Lord is so important to unlock the peace of the Lord. I suffered from a very deep and frightful depression for years, suicide was on my mind. It wasn't until I began to surrender my life to Master Jesus each and every day that His peace flooded my soul.

1 In that day, the LORD will punish with his sword, his fierce, great and powerful sword, Leviathan the gliding serpent, Leviathan the coiling serpent; he will slay the monster of the sea.

Gen 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Day 30 My research: "Leviathan" myth of an ancient symbol of evil and monstrous horror.

Isaiah forsees God destroying evil finally & forever. Oh what a day when the great trumpet sounds like on the Day of Atonement to proclaim liberty throughout the land (Lev. 25:8-12) and all God's people will be gathered at the Holy Mountain (Rev. 21:9-11). (Combination of words from Dr. Ortlund, and me.).

Day 31 Isaiah see's the City of Samaria with their drunken lifestyle. This always ends up useless to God and man,IMO. Israel fell to the Assyrians in 722 BC (research) Judah in the South are drunk as well, priests & prophets who laugh at Isaiah's prophesy as being foolish....Today's leaders are no different as the world rejects God's wisdom as foolishness. (1 Cor. 1:27)

Opps back to day 30...forgot the post reply button...reply to Choppers post 212

A great dragon ? for me the this fits..in here....
Joh_17:4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
Joh_19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

I agree! When Jesus made that exclamation, that drove nails in Satan's coffin. :sohappy

Isa 28 :6 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste .

1Pe 2:6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
1Pe 2:7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
1Pe 2:8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
1Pe 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
1Pe 2:10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

Eph 2:16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
Eph 2:17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.
Eph 2:18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
Eph 2:19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
Eph 2:20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
Eph 2:21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
Eph 2:22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

Rev 5:4 And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon.
Rev 5:5 And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.

Day 32 "Ariel Ariel" (research) Jamison, Fausset, & Brown. "Ariel Jerusalem. Ariel means "Lion of God," that is, city rendered by God invincible: The Lion is emblem of a mighty hero (2 Sam. 23:20). Otherwise "Hearth of God," that is, place where the Altar-fire continually burns to God (Isa. 31:9; Ez. 43:15,16)."

Verse 13 was so true in the day of Isaiah and his prophesy, but today as well. "Because this people draw near with their mouth and honor me with their lips, while their hearts are far from me". (ESV) I never want to be numbered with the likes of those!
