Bible Study 71 Days in Isaiah

Day 39 V.10 The Rabshakeh (high-ranking military Assyrian officer) violates the third Commandment (You shall not take the Name of the Lord God in vain)

Negotiations between Hezekiah and the King of Assyria prior to the invasion of Jerusalem that took place in 700BC (I think).

Day 39 -

I'll just add that when the Assyrian said that the Jews could stay in Jerusalem until they came to get them, my stomach did a flip flop.
Just sit tight like sitting ducks so we can take you away to slavery.

Day 40 It is interesting that KIng Hezekiah sent his senior men to Isaiah and said say such and such to "the Lord your God." Why not the Lord our God?

V.26 reflects predestination; "Have you not heard that I determined it long ago? I planned from days of old what now I bring to pass."

Those in Assyrie who planned to wage war with Jerusalem, God's remnant, they were destroyed instead. Our God is both a destroyer and restorer, fear the Lord.

Day 40 37:1-38

This scripture came to mind as I read this...

Eph 5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
Eph 5:7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them.

The king of Assyria was a vain man. He bragged on his conquests and spoke against the one true God. As Chopper pointed out, it was only because of God he had been a conqueror at all.
Hezekiah wisely told his men not to speak to them, not to take part in a conversation with them.
In this chapter we see that God will be the one to show the Assyrian His wrath against their disobedience and defiance against God.

I especially liked Hezekiah's pray for deliverance. I used this scripture this morning to give my grandson a teaching about praying to God about all things. We read a couple chapters using the NLT because he could understand it. Jake had been concerned about God really hearing his prayers because God doesn't talk back. So he saw a couple of ways God answers our prayers, through speaking to others about our needs and by His direct intervention.

Day 41 An interesting event in Hezekiah's life. His health was restored and the sun dial, what ever that was, turned back as a sign for him....God is great! Is anything to hard for Him to do....NOT!!

Day 41 38:1-20

Isa 38:17 Behold, for peace I had great bitterness: but thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back.
Isa 38:20 The LORD was ready to save me: therefore we will sing my songs to the stringed instruments all the days of our life in the house of the LORD.

Redemption. Praising the Lord for our salvation all the days of our lives.

Day 42 Hezekiah foolishly shows the envoys from Babylon his treasure house (not good) .

A prophesy of John the Baptist shows up.

What a great proclamation, "The Word of our God will stand forever."

Isaiah 35...... Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped. ....
and the ransomed of the LORD will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.

Mat 13:14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
Mat 13:15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
Mat 13:16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

One of my favorites Heb_12:22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,

:amen :woot3

Blessings to you and yours.

From the beginning of time we see the attempts to destroy the people of God ... Something about getting kick in the shins builds strength

32 For out of Jerusalem will come a remnant, and out of Mount Zion a band of survivors. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.
Heb_12:22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,

The only thing getting kicked in my shin that got produced was a big lump. :lol

There is something about the New Jerusalem that makes me want to go there. It's going to be wonderful, I'm sure.

Isaiah 37.
31 Once more a remnant of the house of Judah will take root below and bear fruit above.

Rev_5:5 And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.

Heb_12:22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,
I am not good at English :neutral forget Greek :confused2 but i can tell the verse above says are come aint that a done deal...
Why do we not reign in life do we doubt Him? Are we still looking for our reign to be one of man made palaces all that human king stuff. He gave us His kingdom...

Luk 12:30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.
Luk 12:31 But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Luk 12:32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

Rom_14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Wish i didnt mess up so often...When everyday gets to me it can be ay to easy to loose righteousness, peace, and joy

Isaiah 39

Mat 7:5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
Mat 7:6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

Isa 40 :1 1 Comfort, comfort my people, says your God.

Joh_14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

2 Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed, that her sin has been paid for, that she has received from the LORD's hand double for all her sins.

1Co 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

As Chopper said we see John the Baptist... is coming

Isa 40:8 The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever."

1Pe_1:25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

Isa 40 10-11
10 Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.
11 He shall feed his flock like a shepherd : he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young .

Joh 10:14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
Joh 10:15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
Joh 10:16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

Day 42 38:21-39:8

Isa 39:8 Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.

Hm...I don't understand.....The Lord just said,

Isa 39:6 Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.
Isa 39:7 And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.

And Hezekiah says that's good....there will be peace and truth in my days.
When he was sick, did he run a high fever and do some damage to his brain?
I'm not being snarky, maybe a little but I just don't get it. Does he really not realize they, all the people, are going into captivty in Babylon?

I believe it's a done deal. It's just hard sometimes for me to remember that and sometimes it seems like the light is so far away, just a spec in the darkness. Then I realize I put a bushel over my candle.

Help, please...where do you see the prophesy of John the Baptist? I've read several times and I still can't find it.:shame :helmet
