Bible Study 71 Days in Isaiah

Reads like a picture of the church the church here in the USA . We have no idea of struggling Christians

I agree. The modern church is so anemic that the Blood of the Christ is hardly or never mentioned. Salvation is old hat, come join our worship team is the big push instead of saving the lost. IMO the church has lost its vision and will be ripe for deception and apostasy.

So many of the churches of today sing the same chorus (or verse & chorus) repeatedly, until the congregation is pretty much brain-numbed. Then a preacher says his bit, and the congregation is enthralled by his words, even though many of them have no clue what he's talking about because their minds are still numb. I refuse to return for a second look-see at churches like that. I really do prefer one where the minister is feeding and encouraging the congregation towards a stronger & more mature relationship with our Lord.

Isaiah speaks clearly to stand guarded against being lukewarm, dependent upon someone else for direction.

Day 34

I think Chopper covered it really well.

I think there may be many pastors who were not called to that position. By the same token there are probably many people sitting in pews who were called.

Oh so true AirDancer. This reminds me of the second Baptist Church that called me to be their pastor. About a Month into being their pastor, I was approached by the head elder and asked not to continue my preaching thru 1 Corinthians. I asked him, "Why? are some being convicted of sin?" His response was "No, we just don't like it". I said, "Well, I think so, and you tell your people that I'm going to crank it up". I did and the trouble began. Eventually that group of about 12 people who had dominated the past preachers and ran the church, literally, were forced out because people heard that there was a new pastor who was a "BIBLE PREACHER", and stood up to all the elders".

God had given me a courage and boldness to straighten out the leadership of that church and as a result, many folk came in and were saved. Praise God for His faithfulness and delivering me from the lion's attack! (Elders).

Day 35 I really liked the the first of Chapter 31. "Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help.....but do not look to the Holy One of Israel or consult the Lord."

That pretty much paints a valid picture of our Nation. All Christians, and me, should focus on V.3 "The Egyptians are man, and not God, and their horses are flesh and not Spirit". The "world" is where our Nation seeks resolutions for problems and wisdom for decisions. Oh that revival would come so that our leaders, local and nationally would seek the Holy One of Israel!

Act 26:15 And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest.
Act 26:16 But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;
Act 26:17 Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee,
Act 26:18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

So true Deb, it's the people who I feel sooo bad for.

Day 36 I didn't get much out of this Chapter except Assyria who has been destroying God's people, will itself be destroyed and God's people will receive not only the spoils of war but natural resources that God blesses.

Jumping ahead i will not be here tomorrow...Feb5

Isa 33:2 O LORD, be gracious unto us; we have waited for thee: be thou their arm every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble.

Heb 12:26 Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.
Heb 12:27 And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.
Heb 12:28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:
Heb 12:29 For our God is a consuming fire.

Thank you Matt Henry

Day 36 - 33:1-24

YLT Young's Literal Translation
Isa 33:17 A king in his beauty, see do thine eyes, They see a land afar off.
Isa 33:20 See Zion, the city of our meetings, Thine eyes see Jerusalem a quiet habitation, A tent not taken down, Not removed are its pins for ever, And none of its cords are broken.

Heb 11:13 In faith died all these, not having received the promises, but from afar having seen them, and having been persuaded, and having saluted them , and having confessed that strangers and sojourners they are upon the earth,
Heb 11:14 for those saying such things make manifest that they seek a country;
Heb 11:15 and if, indeed, they had been mindful of that from which they came forth, they might have had an opportunity to return,
Heb 11:16 but now they long for a better, that is, an heavenly, wherefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God, for He did prepare for them a city.

Joh 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and did tabernacle among us, and we beheld his glory, glory as of an only begotten of a father, full of grace and truth.

esword has been very helpful to me in finding scriptures. Sometimes ones I hadn't thought of and other times ones I had but couldn't remember where they were.

Day 37 The Lord is enraged against all Nations.

This prophesy is also found in Matthew 24:29 and Revelation 6:13, 14.

Even so Lord Jesus, COME!

Matt Henry

They shall possess it for ever. God's Jerusalem may be laid in ruins; but Jerusalem of old recovered itself out of its ruins, till it gave place to the gospel Jerusalem, which may be brought low, but shall be rebuilt, and shall continue till it give place to the heavenly Jerusalem. But the enemies of the church shall be for ever desolate, shall be punished with an everlasting destruction.

Day 38 35:1-10 All passages are from YLT.

Isa 35:4 Say to the hastened of heart, `Be strong, Fear not, lo, your God; vengeance cometh, The recompence of God, He Himself doth come and save you.'

And so He did, a prophecy fulfilled is what I see, as well.

Isa 35:8 And a highway hath been there, and a way, And the `way of holiness' is called to it, Not pass over it doth the unclean, And He Himself is by them, Whoso is going in the way--even fools err not.
Joh 14:6 Jesus saith to him, `I am the way, and the truth, and the life, no one doth come unto the Father, if not through me;

Zec 4:6 And he answereth and speaketh unto me, saying: `This is a word of Jehovah unto Zerubbabel, saying: Not by a force, nor by power, But--by My Spirit, said Jehovah of Hosts.
Zec 4:7 Who art thou, O great mountain Before Zerubbabel--for a plain! And he hath brought forth the top-stone, Cries of Grace, grace-- are to it.'
