Bible Study 71 Days in Isaiah

Day 43 Opps! I got ahead of myself. mistakenly I read to V.8. John the Baptist prophesy is here, not in Day 42. and a great statement about God's Word "will stand forever".

V.10 "Behold, the Lord comes with might", I sometimes forget that Our Great Almighty God owns everything, is in control of everything, and will protect His own children with great might.

Vs. 10 & 11 displays the Great compassionate God Who tenderly cares for His children.:clap

:hips then you are why i got mixed up :hysterical hopefully i am back on track today... This has been a real blessing to me, this study.... If we were in a room together we would end up with one person leading the study. That is a good thing most the time... The forum format better allows for different thoughts and sharing amongst those with Christ as center but still having different thoughts...
Thank you Lord for Your word and this internet, bringing parts of Your body together we would have never met other wise....

No Chopper, you are correct. V8 was included in Day 42. I sincerely need help in understanding how/why this relates to John the Baptist. Reba, sees it too, I don't. Help please. Thanks

Isa 39:8 Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.

Isa 40:3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

This is the verse Deborah13

Joh 1:21 And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.
Joh 1:22 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?
Joh 1:23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.

Sheesh....I should have read today's before I asked again. Sorry.

Day 43 40:1-11

Isa 40:2 Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD'S hand double for all her sins.

So this verse stood out to me because of the 'double portion'. I thought two things, as to history, Jerusalem was taken into captivity twice because of their sin. But then it says 'speak comfort to Jerusalem'. So that is like Job,
Job 42:10 And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.

Then the very next verse is the prophecy of John the Baptist and the proclamation he brought about the giving/coming of the Messiah, certainly a blessing to those who would believe. Before they had the oracles of God, now they would have the living oracle of God, in the flesh.

Oh yes! I am enjoying this as well....When this one ends, we should start another. It certainly is a good way to communicate. Deuteronomy was suggested for me to study a while ago, can't remember by who, but I learned a lot from that study. When this one ends, perhaps we could start one in that Book, Chapter by Chapter.

I'd be happy studying any one that is suggested. :)

Isa 39:8 Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.

This is a quote from Matthew Chapter 3 Verse3 "For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah when he said, "The voice of one crying in the wilderness: Prepare the way of the Lord; make his paths straight." Now in Isaiah 40:3 it says "A voice cries: In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God". See the similarity? That is what I was referring to. I'm glad you asked that question, that's how we all grow and learn.:yes

I, too, am learning & re-learning quite the lot during this study of Isaiah. And I like the idea of taking on Deuteronomy next. Spiritual growth & understanding ... what a blessing this is!
