A WRATHFUL GOD & THE ATONEMENT

What about them?
Isaiah 59:19 kjv
19. So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.

I think the army of the end time is what we await.

People (and regretfully me at times) take an Old Testament scripture dress it up and try to make it fit the New Testament.

Total depravity may be one I recognize. At the time of the flood total depravity existed, but the flood took care of the (total). Some sin still existed but not total dominion in every aspect in life. We have been through this before.

The slave/servant story depends on knowing a lot of rules of the bond servant. Today we do not see those rules in action. We do not make our own salvation agreement, but Jesus took care of our need.

As a type and shadow the scripture I gave fits, but we can not put ourself in the story. Only Jesus fits. Which is what you asked for in the New Testament. Just do not fail to see the Old Testament story as a learning tool to see what Jesus did..

I will shut up.

You worry me Gordon.
You see the world in a very negative light.
You see believers in a negative light.

I think everyone on this forum knows that the evil one is the prince of the air. But why give him the glory?

Jesus said if we walk with Him we will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life.

Persons join forums for different reasons.
We try hard not to attract those that like to argue because they cause division and unpleasantness.

I have my reason for being here.
Why are you here?
The world is entirely wicked:

1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

1 John 5:19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.

If you are correct that I see believers in a negative light, that would be believers in darkness, of this world. ( we wrestle against the rulers of the darkness of this world, creating spiritual wickedness in high places/where believers in light are supposed to be.)

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Why do you think the multitude of scriptures warning of the antichrist spirit at the end, ( the devils spirit) are giving glory to the devil ?

There are no positive scriptures for the end times, why do you want to turn the warnings God has given to us, into nothing ?

Satan is warned directly in the Epistles and of his ministers, to all be as light, yet their works are works of darkness. If you think that all of the warning God has given us is not appropriate for you, it is as far as God is concerned, as that is why we were told about these times, right now, with many many details, which I have to share daily, as nobody else has any pleasure in it, instead it worries them.

2 Corinthians 11:13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

This forum is designed for division, i t allows trinity discussion, which directly opposes the oneness and peace of God, along with baptism talk, ( baptist separated belief) and all the things God said would be in the end of the world, debate, contention, dispute, that is the fruit of the years and years of discussions, looking at this thread right now, it is strife and people of strong opinions, that just want to wrestle against each other, what more do you think it is.

What does sin entered the world mean?
Does the world sin?
Can the world receive judgement and end up in heaven or hell?

Does God so loved the world mean He loves the clouds and mountains and some world paradigm or other?

Is the bible about the relationship between God and man? Or between God and the world?

I wish you'd get it out of your head that we believe in the sin nature as an excuse to sin.

Doesn't Romans 1:20, or so, state that man is without excuse?

Do you think so lowly of us, your brothers in Christ, to believe that we search for an excuse to sin?
Sounds like questions and strifes of words to me/reason to keep the forum alive.

1 Timothy 6:4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,

Men of the world have their portion in this life, they wont see the next, and the reason is they do not do what is instead heavenly, ( not of this world) where the Kingdom of Christ is from.

Psalm 17:14 From men which are thy hand, O Lord, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.

John 18:36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

Again here it is written in scripture.

Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned.
Romans 5:12

  • just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men

…through one man sin entered the world

Through one man, Adam, sin entered the world. The world refers to people; the human race.

God so loved the world; the human race.

Please explain how sin entered the human race, the entire human race, if not through procreation?

Hint: this is why Jesus was born of a virgin.

JLB
Sin entered the world by everything that Jesus is not, disobedience, unfaithful, unholy, coveting, dishonesty, hearing evil instead of good.

That is why Jesus is born in holiness, as man began in unholiness, because the knowledge of the Holy is understanding.

Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

Now we are predicted everybody goes about in the same disobedience and unholiness:

2 Timothy 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

The blood of the covenant sanctifies us, to make that into unholiness, ( through being disobedient as Adam was, coveting, unthankful) means we are worthy of death for doing all of those things despite the Spirit of grace.

Hebrews 10:29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

You guys can declare this a good thread, but it is yet another that has what understanding evident in it ?

Simple explanations are not welcomed, that is what is present here unfortunately.

This is the model of atonement that I set forth:
The ransom payment of Jesus' life was paid to satan in exchange for our life. His life for our life. But by doing so Jesus placed himself in the position of suffering the wrath of God that satan and his slaves deserve where we once stood before he switched places with us. And so Jesus was there in our stead to receive the wrath of God and receive the just wages of sin. And he did. But since he himself didn't actually sin in service to satan, death could not hold him and he rose to life again to rule and reign in the kingdom of God where we who he redeemed from the kingdom of darkness will dwell along with him forever and ever.
It's called the Ransom Model.
This is what the church believed until about a thousand years later when someone set forth the Penal Substitution Model, which most Christians subscribe to today.

I think penal substitution is the worst heresy ever invented, because the cross of Christ shows Jesus holding back his wrath from people committing crimes against him. Crimes according to the Torah.

According to the Torah, shedding innocent blood is sin. Jesus said if people don't repent of sin they're damned. God is no substitute.
The problem with the Penal Substitution model is that if the blood of Jesus was a payment you made to God to avoid the penalty of the debt you owe him then it would be impossible for God to reinstate that debt, just as Jesus said God will do under certain circumstances:

32Then the master summoned him and declared, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave all your debt because you begged me. 33Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant, just as I had on you?’ 34In anger his master turned him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should repay all that he owed. Matthew 18:32-34

I agree with you. The "price our Lord paid" was to be mocked and abused by sinners. And why? It's simply the "cost" of loving people who hate you. Jesus perfectly displayed how much he and our Father love us.

I respectfully disagree. If he cared about what people thought of him, mocking would hurt. He did not have the fear of man and did not care what people thought of Him. True prophets of God do not care what people think of them personally. They care what God thinks of them. I think you are thinking what the worst would be for you if you were in his place.

The price our Lord paid was the personal loss he experienced during the whole procedure and afterwards. There was to be, of course, gain, but the loss was real and he felt it deeply.

The only true ministry is the one of afflictions, endurance, ( wide path to destruction many are on. Matthew 7:13.) few follow it.

Also, they no longer endure sound doctrine, but they hear these strange type of people, with itching ears, so they hear their fables and turn from the truth by it.

2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

Here is what the fear of the Lord is people, because it stops the ears itching, ( For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears. 2 Timothy 4:3.)

It makes the ears calm, easier to hear, and slower to need to speak:

James 1:19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

keep the tongue from that evil ( of being quick to speak) and the lips from speaking guile.

The tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity, it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature, and is set on fire of hell.

All of the animals have been tamed in the world, but the tongue of man cannot be tamed. Why ? Because it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

Psalm 34:11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?
13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.
14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

James 3:6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

James 3:7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:
8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

So people who are quick to speak have itching ears, ( otherwise they would be slow to speak) they do not keep their tongue from evil, or their lips from speaking guile.

They also are said to be unruly. They are without the fear of God. ( as to control the tongue is to learn the fear of the Lord.)

Leviathan is the crooked serpent, who is king over all the children of pride, they are all without the fear of the Lord. ( their tongue is set on fire of hell.)

Job 41:1 Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down?

Job 41:33 Upon earth there is not his like, who is made without fear.
34 He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride.

Isaiah 27:1 In that day the Lord with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.

God takes away those who rejoice in pride, ( who have Leviathan their king who beholds all things high, over all the children of pride/who are quick to speak, slow to hear.) and then they are no more haughty. ( they learn the fear of the Lord, and do not heap teachers to themselves, having itching ears, turning from the truth, to turn to fables.)

In the middle is left an afflicted and poor people, who trust in the name of the Lord, ( not trusting in the crooked serpent.) they are the remnant who do not do the iniquity of the children of pride, because they do not speak lies, nor have a deceitful tongue.

Zephaniah 3:11 In that day shalt thou not be ashamed for all thy doings, wherein thou hast transgressed against me: for then I will take away out of the midst of thee them that rejoice in thy pride, and thou shalt no more be haughty because of my holy mountain.
12 I will also leave in the midst of thee an afflicted and poor people, and they shall trust in the name of the Lord.
13 The remnant of Israel shall not do iniquity, nor speak lies; neither shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth: for they shall feed and lie down, and none shall make them afraid.

Then there is Man's reasoning VS God's knowledge

Those scriptures do not explain the fear of the Lord but show, instead, the results of having the fear of the Lord. I know you are trying to attack the rest of us writing posts although you write do many posts it is rather hypocritical.

Nevertheless, for those interested, the fear of the Lord is caring more what God thinks of you and your behaviour than what people think of you and your behaviour. The latter is called the fear of man. That is easy to see as when you are contemplating doing something and you are worried what people will think of you, that is the fear of man. The fear of man keeps christians from speaking out when they should. The prophets of God did not have the fear of man and were not afraid to say what would please the Lord, as that was stronger in their hearts.

When one has the fear of God in the heart, one is careful as to what one says as described in the scriptures above.

The fear of man keeps christians from speaking out when they should. The prophets of God did not have the fear of man and were not afraid to say what would please the Lord, as that was stronger in their hearts.

When one has the fear of God in the heart, one is careful as to what one says as described in the scriptures above.

Those scriptures do not explain the fear of the Lord but show, instead, the results of having the fear of the Lord. I know you are trying to attack the rest of us writing posts although you write do many posts it is rather hypocritical.

They ( FILTHY DREAMERS) also speak evil of dignities, what evil do they not fulfil. ( THEY DISPLAY THEY HAVE NO FEAR OF GOD BY CONFIRMING THEY ARE NOT AFRAID TO SPEAK EVIL OF DIGNITIES.)

Romans 1:29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

2 Peter 2:10 But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.

Jude 1:8 Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.

No fear of God, again by them being seen as fierce, false accusers and despisers of those that are good.

2 Timothy 3:3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
