Oooh...

See here is where your position shows its weakness, Robert. Yes Christians are saved by grace, but you can't teach that they should not possess the virtues of Christ. There are too many scriptures that fly in the face of it.
Do you think that position does not show the very same weakness ?

The endless disputes of the forum are the weakness of the blind leading the blind into the ditch.

No showing sincerity to acknowledge the truth either is witnessed, ever. ( being implacable)

Romans 1:31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

Romans 1:31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

Robert and I were being entirely cordial with each other, and polite. You on the other hand go out of your way to post others when they have NOT addressed you, and in an entirely different spirit. So who's implacable? The only thread I did address you on was the one where you were down-mouthing the entire forum and the entire staff here. Don't kid yourself, Gordon, you're the one being implacable. I normally almost never read your posts because it's usually nonsense, so I have no problems simply ignoring you, so again, who's being implacable here, and who is simply setting you straight before going back to ignoring everything you post?

I think the call it "Christianez". Wouldn't it be nice if we all spoke the same thing? 1 Corinthians 1:10.
Sure would sir. The Bible calls it babylon the great, no doubt because of the confusion at the origin of babylon. That verse is an identifier of God's people Robert, although basically a common sense scripture, if a group is not speaking the same things, then they are divided. Teachings are the primary identifier of God's people, the main fruit.

The reason that the just live by faith and not by rules, laws or religion is because there is no other way for them to live.

Paul said, "For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believes" Romans 10:4.

If Paul is right and I believe that he is, then there is no other way to be justified than by faith, mainly faith in Christ and his Gospel. Paul also said, "For he that has entered into his rest he also has ceased from his own works, as God did from his" Hebrews 4:10. Is Paul trying to tell us that works are not required for salvation?

If Christ is the end of the law for righteousness and all sin has been atoned for, 1 John 2:2. then what is there left for us to do? The answer is nothing, this is why the just shall live by faith, Romans 1:17. In Romans 4:5, Paul said, "But to him that does no works, but believes on him that justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness".

In the New Testament the word "Work" is related more to Christ's work than it is to our works. Christians do good works, not to be saved, but because they are saved. "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God has ordained that we should walk in them" Ephesians 2:10. This is a normal part of the Christians life.

The reason that Christians do good works is not to please God. God is already well pleased with his Son Jesus Christ. God sees us as perfect and complete "In Christ" Colossians 2:10. We do good works because we are witnesses for Christ and his Gospel, just like Jesus said we would be, Luke 24:46-48.

"For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is everyone that does not continue to do all of the things which are written in the book of the law to do them" Galatians 3:10.

The Pharisees took over 600 laws and rules from the Old Testament and called it the Torah. Jesus was not well pleased with that. There are actually 2,000 rules and laws in the Old Testament. The words "Law and "Religion" mean the same thing. When one is doing their religion, they are doing the law. When one is doing the law they are doing their religion. The law demands that we do something. The law is any religious thing that we do. Paul is saying that if you don't do the whole law, which includes the 2,000 commandments you are under the curse. James said, "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point he is guilty of all" James 2:10.

Paul continues. "But that no man is justified by the law (religion) in the sight of God, it is evident: for, "The just shall live by faith" Galatians 3:10.

Salvation has never been by laws, rules or religion. In the Old Testament God's people were always justified by faith. They had faith in God's promise of a savior. They looked forward to when their Messiah would appear. We look back to when he was here. We are all justified by faith without works or obedience to the law.

And the law is not of faith: but the man that does them shall live in them, Galatians 3:12.

When one becomes a Christian God writes his law on their heart by the Holy Spirit. The become "New Creations" in Jesus Christ, 2 Corinthians 5:17. The Holy Spirit is God's mark of ownership. Whatever good that comes out of the Christian life is to the glory of God. "For we are his workmanship created in Jesus Christ unto good works, which God has ordained that we should walk in them" Ephesians 2:10.

"Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, cursed is everyone that hangs on a tree" Galatians 3:11.

To be under the law or subject to it is to be under a curse. To be free from the law is to be free from sin and the condemnation of sin. in the judgment many will be found to be under the curse because they are not in Christ, instead they are trying to become justified by the law and religion. This is why Paul said, "Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin" Romans 3:20.

Justification is a legal word that is frequently used in a court of law. Funk & Wagnalls Dictionary describes justification as 1. The act of justifying or the state of being justified. The word "justify" is described as 1. To show to be just, right, or reasonable; vindicate. 2. To declare guiltless; absolve.

Paul said, "But to him that does no works, but believes on him that justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness" Romans 4:5.

Jesus justifies the ungodly because the ungodly cannot justify themselves, because "There is none righteous, no, not one" Romans 3:10. "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23.

Christians are justified by the doing and the dying of Jesus and not by the works of the law. This is why Paul said, "Therefore, by the deeds of the law (what we do) there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin" Romans 3:20.

No one has ever been justified by works, laws or religion. The Old Testament saints were justified by faith in God's promise of a savior, Romans 4:1-6. New Testament saints are justified by the doing and the dying of Jesus, Romans 3:26.

This means that salvation is totally and completely outside of ourselves and is only found in the work and the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the one that justifies the ungodly, and reconciles us and the world unto God, 2 Corinthians 5:18-19.

It would not be confusing if all His followers follow His teachings which is Jesus' law.

Robert, to teach that there are no longer any commandments, and Christians simply are what they are, runs completely contrary to both the Gospels and the epistles. If it were simply a matter of "be indwell by the Holy Spirit," there would be one admonition and one admonition only, but there is not.
Yes , his antinomian ideas are not in line with the gospel of the Kingdom.

What is a Christian? A Christian is one that is trusting in the work and the person of Jesus Christ for his salvation and has no confidence in the flesh (religion) Philippians 3:3. "By the deeds of the law (what you do) no flesh will be justified in his sight: for by the law (what you do) is the knowledge of sin" Romans 3:20.
