I didn't get the quote right, it should have been: "Are Jack Van Impe's predictions Biblical". My comment otherwise stands.

would the anti-impe posters please post some transcripts or quote a book with reference.

ok i will say this. given i dont know yet. some pastors such as mine are die hard pre tribbers and never preach dates and or major events save to show a point.these while i think wrong in eschatology and mine loves the the lord and is sincere. i know him well enough to say what he is or isnt. he may be wrong but he does do what he says and believes the bible. no man is perfect and none have it all right.

if i wanted to be a jerk i could get into all the osas pushers and also calvinists and so forth. so lets not get to divisive.

so i await to see if van impe did prophecy.

Yes. :) And I stick with my previous comment(s) as well. :)

I know Jack and Rexella personally and will vouch for them. Though they are not Presbyterian, nor Baptist, but Assembly of God... they are absolutely spot on biblical. I posted a part of his personal testimony, and can post more if you wish. I do not wish to take your thread... but I simply cannot and will not sit by and allow people who don't know them to bash them (maybe simply because Rexella and Jack are both pre tribulationalists? IDK. )

You can believe and follow the Van Impes without fear of ever been off base in Scripture... any mistakes he generally made, misspoke or otherwise, he corrected/corrects willingly.

He does not give a specific date, but can show you in two different ways from Bible verses of prophecy that something is going to occur very soon. Unless God puts a halt to what is in motion all over the world, and He can...but when His Word which He gave us so we know and understand why all the turmoil ("Comfort one another with these words") so we can be comforted, then his calling is that he shares that. He shares most vividly how the world events follow God's Word.

Be well.

ok thats fine . but while they may be honorable in their walk that doesnt mean they have it right

i love pastor adrian rogers, favorite pastor of all time. he is a baptist and didnt believe as i do on the gifts. do i think he is false prophet ? no.

he also got it wrong on some parts.he is also sbc and was pre tribber and never gave dates at all. none and zilch.just preached the basics.

Jason, in post 13 is a quote from his tv show..

An article in the January-February 1993 issue of Perhaps Today magazine included a detailed chronology to demonstrate that the Lord will probably return in September of 1999:

"Let's figure that out again--1948.5 plus 51.4 equals 1999.9--around September of the year 1999. Now, we are not date-setters! Of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not he angels of heaven, but my father only (Matthew 24:36). But wait! Don't say, `No one can know the APPROXIMATE time when Christ will return,' for Jesus also said in verse 33 that we will know when it is near, even at the doors."

In the Jan-Feb 1997 issue of Perhaps Today Van Impe claimed that the year 2001 “will see the start of the Great Tribulation. Political chaos, natural disasters, nuclear war and the worldwide rise of Islam will usher in mankind's final hour.â€

In 1998, Van Impe had this to say about the 16th century French mystic Nostradamus;

â€Now, Nostradamus said that the king of terror would appear November of 1999. I believe Nostradamus knew his bible and knew what the six-day theory was, and so he could put it all together.†Jack Van Impe Presents October 5, 1998

:(:nono2 sorry, i wont bother with him. sadly i attended a church that lead souls to the lord that used his stuff for possible end time scenarios. the problem i have with the pre trib theory is that it tends to lead to this stuff.

my friend at church does that somewhat. he thinks christ is near because of isreals enemies that are acting up.

exegesis people not eisegis.look at the bible read it then look around.

His prediction of a 'world dictator' came and went, even though he gave himself a 6 year window, claiming in 1997 that it would appear from now- 2003.

Spot on eh? You're seeing spots.

Yes of course we all find those we are comfortable with... But please do not think he looks around and then goes find scripture. He has 14,000 verse in his head plus what he reads in the rest of the Bible. I'm sure many things click faster for him than me, for instance.

As for being awaken in the early hours by God, this is a common phenomena experienced by many in the ministry. We take it sometimes light heartedly as it may be a good time for God to have our undivided attention. (that's a joke folks.)

As Christians we are to forgive when someone apologizes esp. He corrected his thinking and admitted he had not done the right thing at those times. He has been more careful since.

For some here it may be it is just uncomfortable to think if such events etc. but for others of us it is exciting. It is not unscriptural but blessed of God to study and look for His return... Regardless of when you place the events. :)

I have not really read or listened to Jack, I have nothing against him. But my question to those that talk negative about him. Question would be does Jack say " this will happen in 40 years" or does he say "this could happen in 40 years" big big difference.. big
Also if he is leading men/women to Jesus can we say these bad things about him. When I came to Jesus I didn't know beans about anything other than I felt different and knew something changed in my heart and mind.. after that 35 years of sstudying
So i agree with gazelle we should be careful where our rocks that we throw land.

thats the problem this is like who the catholics skirt around the near worship of mary. well we dont know the hour but we can get the day type of thing. i for the life of me when i was a pre tribber didnt watch much of impe or lindsey. i admit that i have. but not on a regualar basis

the signs are already there.

1)isreal is hated
2)america and what seems to be the whole world running to sin
3) false prophets
4) sin run amok
5) wars
6) ad nausem

that is what i needed to see to believe in the idea of the his return was soon. one doesnt even have to listen to impe or hal to get that.look at the paper and or just be alive and these are obvious.these arent really new peter warned his epistle readers that in the last days they would come and even said they were doing NOW.

1This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

2That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
3Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
4And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
5For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
6Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
7But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
8But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
9The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
10But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
11Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
12Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
13Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
14Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
15And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
16As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
17Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. 18But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

so how long has it been since the last days? since the times of the apostles.
now then that has been in some

These end time preachers have learned to be as vague as the astrologers.

Reba please privide links on these
to Dr Van Impe's site or own materials. Many misquotes are on the net .

Has anyone notice these hyperlinks inserted into our posts lead to non Christian web sites - and one in this thread leads directly to a foretune tellers web site - the sort of stuff that scripture forbids. What's going on here?

mutzrein, I believe you are referring to google ads based on keywords on this thread which are not related to this christian website.

So i agree with gazelle we should be careful where our rocks that we throw land.

My problem with false prophets (and the bible has no real mercy for them unless they repent) is that they keep changing their dates. I've read about how in a few of Jack's books he stated back in the 70's that the end/rapture would come before the 80's. Since then he's upped the time table...now it's the end of 2012. All his "predictions" have fallen through. In the 70's he proclaimed there would be massive disaster and the world would run out of food...never happened. And of course is popular Y2K prediction that all the worlds computers would shut down and there would be mass panic. Didn't happen.

My observation of this guy is that he takes the most current events and shoehorns them into prophecy, feeding on the fear and worry of his viewers.

But nothing he says contradicts the Bible, and if there's fear it's on behalf of those who need to accept Christ or become better Christians. "as if snatching them from fire"

He preaches Christ, through and through. If you see him, his videos, his tv program and watch all the way to the end...you will see he gives salvation verses, the message, a prayer for repentance and acceptance of Christ, he calms and encourages the believer. He never ever suggests you have to buy something of his for any element of being a believer.

We are to judge the false prophets...those who preach "another" than Christ. Those who desire to lead people into giving so they can have God's love or miracles, or even salvation. False prophets don't lead people to Christ, and even those in NT times who were not of the "commissioned", when they preached Christ (though they themselves might not have been followers) they were to be left alone...since God's Word does not return to him void.

No, everything Dr Jack Van Impe preaches is to lead the lost to Christ, and to encourage the believers. AMEN TO THAT! :study
