Are Muscular women attractive?

Honestly, as a fifty year old male, somewhat experienced in the (mine) field of female ways and thinking, I think that, generally speaking, the women who wants to build men's muscles would not make a good wife or girlfriend for a Christian man.

How so? Where is the connection to christianity? I have yet to find a Bible verse saying "Thou shalt not let your wife hit the gym." So how is a woman's desire for fitness related to her potential husband's faith life?

Thought a teenager's perspective would be nice in this tread lol, I don't think muscular woman are attractive (e.g. six pack ripped abs etc.) but I don't think a girl who's just as skinny as a twig is attractive either. And I really have to agree on the guitar part, especially if they sing as well! That can really make my legs wobble. Hahahaha.

Hahahaha that would be a funny thing if that was in the 10 commandments.. gyms would be so so crowded.

..So, dear farouk, do you like muscular women?
Claudya: I'm not sure that I need to develop my views and sensibilities enough to the extent of even being able to offer an opinion.

I do think men should be careful before making comments of the jocular/derogatory kind about women's appearance, though.

Hm God using reverse psychology? Interesting idea. Maybe the command given to Even and Adam not to eat from that tree of knowledge was reverse psychology too... God wanted the first humans to grow up and have a real human life instead of sitting in paradise lazy, stagnant and without purpose forever. :D

The coming of sin was a dreadful event in human history.

Sounds like you just have no special preference in regards to the topic. That's okay. :yes

Yeah, that's right, and I'd want to add that humans shouldn't be derogatory about any other human's appearance in general.
Guys keep in mind that those female body builders have done a lot of hard work and made sacrifices to get the bodies they wanted. Respect that hard work, or at least respect them as fellow humans.

However, I wasn't totally serious. Just a humourous addition to Skillets and Edward's idea that the Bible may have reverse psychology effects on many people.

Claudya: I find it odd when men complain about women bodybuilding. The woman of Proverbs 31 certainly used her arms and her strength. Today, many women bodybuilders at competitions wear high heels and bikinis; whether or not these items are 'sensible' or not, they would presumably be described as 'feminine'.

I can't say that body building women look bad or anything like that, it's just not my preference in a womans looks. It seems a little un-natural or odd to me. I can respect their effort and dedication for what they want to do with themselves, their choice. I just don't find it physically attractive for me.
@Edward : I think you've hit the nail on the head, so to speak, in that female bodybuilding doesn't have to be viewed in terms of whether men will ogle the process with supposed satisfaction. Adults are adults, including women; let adults pursue their own path, as long as it's not immoral, unhealthy or harming others. (We had the same sort of consideration on the thread about tattoo; if some women want them, they are going to get them; their tattoos are not for the 'benefit' or detriment of men.)

Blessings.

Now you know this goes waaaaay beyond just fitness.

IMO, much of this is motivated by pride and arrogance, and woman's angry resentment of man's God given role as head. Underneath it all it's really nothing more than rebellion against the what God established . That's the connection to Christianity.

This is just one of the ways the Genesis 3:16 curse on women gets acted out. She's doing this to exert her strength, and her freedom and independence from men. It's a protective device as much as it is a bold statement of her independence from men.

Angry, defensive pride and envy is hard to bear in any relationship, but especially from a woman in a marital relationship. To me there's nothing worse than a proud women always angrily operating on her agenda to assert her equality (independence) from men and the authority of God who established the order of that headship. Maybe what these women fear most is being weak--for everything that 'weak' means to the woman who resents being subject to a man.

Now, don't attack me if you feel tempted to do that. Just share your opinion, just as I have, and let's leave it at that.

..

I would think that few people on here would want to deny the Biblical seriousness of sin.

Yes you are probably right about people on here. I wouldn't deny the seriousness of human failure and suffering at all.
It's going off topic, but just to shortly explain the idea behind it: Some people don't understand the events in Genesis as a report of actual historical events, but as an allegorical story of some episode in humankind, possibly some major step in humanity's evolution. One can argue if that evolutionary step (maybe the begin of human self awareness and morality, and thus also of failure, violence and evil, and thus consequently our separation from God?) was necessary as a part of our growth as a species.

It seems a little un-natural...
I don't think a normal woman can develop muscle mass like a man without steroids. That's what gets me about this whole thing. They're very purposely trying to develop large muscle mass. It isn't just happening because they're going to the gym to stay fit. Any male body builder will tell you that. Oh, how they wish just staying in shape built a body builders physique! No. It takes hours a day of hard, dedicated work to do that.

Of course. Just think twice before marrying one of them, men. I'm serious.

I don't believe that accommodating the evolutionary hypothesis is actually helpful.

One reason why a female would want to look muscular? Who does she want to look like? Her fellow females? NO: females naturally are not muscular. They wanna look like guys?

A man attracted to a female that has his kind of build? This whole thing makes my brain think northwise.

They can build a fair amount (genes can play a huge role in this) of muscle, but they can't do it as easily as males since they don't have as much testosterone, and the main thing is their breasts decrease since they are made mostly out of fat (doesn't apply to all though. I have a cousin who is pretty muscular and she still has normal breasts). As for bodybuilding, it is very difficult if not imposible to stay at top without some kind of steroid.

I guess the Proverbs 31 woman used the strength in her arms.

I guess the underlying logic of Jael killing Sisera in the Old Testament was that she had the strength and resourcefulness to do it.
