And on the seventh day God rested from creation

Meaning if you existed before your birth in heaven. He had to make you as your personality would be nothing like your parents, good or bad .

I'm out .

Heresies

The mormons teach much of what you say and I bet you are getting it from them

You can't ignore where this is going .
You have said we are Gods before

.

maan, I never met a mormon in my life. I guess that kid was really lying. I watched a testimony of a little giirl who was taken up in spirit , and got showed around the nursery and the withing roof where kids wait their turn to be born and some kids were looking at pictures in an album at parents they could be born to.
Ok, she was prolly the antichrist incarnate. Dang she had me fooled, huh?

That so called fable isn;t any weirder thann that boatload of crap that our government shovels. Aliens my butt, ha! Demons is more like it.

I dont have biological kids .
Can't have kids when your wife doesn't have a uterus .she had kids before I was well 9.

There ya go.basing doctrine on a vision that can't be verified on biblical do

This is why I don't buy them

Each one is different

Remember the kid who described Jesus type of skin color ?.

Jesus isn't bound by time .
We are .

Yet you say that Jesus didn't know us in past tense .quoted verse is to one was born already .

We don't say I know you before were born .

It's bad English .God knows us ,saw it all before it happens .

He said, I knew you before I formed you in the womb. "You" is a pretty big Pronoun, Brother. To say He was only at the idea stage, (He knew how He wanted to make you), then the sentance is not grammatically correct. An "idea" is not "you". "pre-existing knowledge" is not "You".

It seems like only basic comprehension is needed to see that the structure of the sentance is laid out to describe "an individual" and more than an esoteirc idea or knowledge alone. I knew you. I Knew you. I knew You. I KNEW YOU.
Show me where my basic English skills are lacking, because that is what it says. To me, and to you.

Joseph Smith had visions etc and used the Bible to create his view .

We call that Mormonism

Jesus visiting America and uses the other fold verse .

This is why Im skeptical of visions .I'm not suggesting some aren't true but many are .

God exists out of time .

Your grasp of anthropic ideas is limited.

All the Good or bad I do is known (past)as God can't learn anything He knows it all .

Thus I knew you before I formed you

Exegisis not eisigis .you like many pentacostals get so caught into visions that you ignore this .

Bible above all.

I think that scripture says

1 John 3:1-2
1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.../

This suggests that we have not seen Him in His true form. When Jesus manifests Himself to someone, He appears to them as a man. So they don't freak out maybe? And if different things are in different peoples hearts, and the Lord knows what is in their hearts so He coud choose to appear differently to two different people, according to what is in the individuals heart and how to get them to receive Him as what they expect to an extent at least.
I can't make rules for God, that he must choose this skin tone or that skin tone, lol.

I havent had any visions. I've never said that I had a vision. If I do have a vision, I'll share it. Unless He tells me not to!

Again missing what I said ,you choose .

God didn't need to have it said ,surely as many like you took the vision literally Jesus had this look.the Bible says little on appearance.

I don't get caught into that .

We don't need to .thus my point seeking visions for fables or pondering them and making doctrines on them is a problem.

Hey Edward jasonc This is a little off-topic

Yeah this kind of thing is what happen on those Christian sites sometimes. Those darn Christians, huh? Wait, I thought you said you could handle Christians? Even enlighten them, lol. So why the big deal?

I find the original topic to be out of place on a website such as this. Your entire premise is to teach that Christ was a myth and did not exist....to a bunch of Christians!! It's an antithetical topic that isn't worth discussing and is certainly outside the norm of the usual type discussions found on Christian web boards. I think you made a bad choice. Some wonder why you haven't been banned yet. It could still happen if you get to uppity with tripe philosophies. I thin it's apparent that they are being very very patient with you.
(that's a lot of compassion if you think about it.)

I'm sorry little brother. You can have your thread back.

You know, Christian apologists read books by people like these Christ myth scholars, and then post refutations of them. It is worth discussing.

A likely story. One guy tried to tell me that I should buy a satanist bible and study it so I could more efficiently debate them....Do you think we are stupid? Let's dabble in this stuff so we can talk about it...bite me!

How are porn addicts created? Simple, they start watching porn a little bit, hey she's cute...
How are drug addicts made...oh let's try some of this and feel good...

How come i'm not addicted to Meth? How come I don't have any problem with watching porn?
Wll the reason is I don't do meth, not even once or twice. And I don't watch porn. Not even once.
And I don't discuss trash topics.

Time would be better off watching Cartoons than discussing that crap.
Then ignore the list. Just like I told hawkman, don't read any of it. It's just here as a resource.

I've read many books from all three positions: Christian, mainstream (there was a real Jesus, but not as in Scripture), and Christ myth. I've read N.T. Wright's massive book The Resurrection of the Son of God, which most Christians have not read.

And why did I do this? To get properly educated on the subject, to come to a conclusion based on reason and evidence and backed up by scholars and experts.
As an atheist there are thing you will never understand . You will need to be a Spirit Filled Christian to understand .

John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

1 John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

This is a catch-22. I've done my research. I've come to my conclusions.

By the way, Thomas Brodie (who wrote Beyond the Quest for the Historical Jesus) is a Christian and a Dominican priest who has taught the Bible and written biblical commentaries. Don't assume that an author is atheist just because he's on here.

Earl Doherty's faith does not come into his own book at all; in fact I don't even recall him even mentioning in it what his religion may be or if he even has one.
