I would pay more for car insurance if I move just two miles to the south. that area isn't much bigger then where I live now. I wouldn't change where I work. with homeowner insurance I would pay more for living near a beach, older home etc. type of dogs. its betting either way.

That third one is a fantastic point bro.
I took my mom and aunt to Harrah's casino today in Chester PA, and I always just stand around and wait for them to finish and I take them home. My mom lost about 200 today, the money that she was hitting on the slots, she would put it back. My aunt won only 100 and something bucks today. Sometimes when I take them they win, or when my mom goes to Atlantic City she hits for a good amount sometimes. But TOG popped a good question in that quote up there.
 
I don't gamble in the common sense. I've never purchased a lottery ticket that I can remember. I'll never forget the time a colleague and I had to go to Los Vegas for work. He likes to gamble. The night we arrived we went down the the casino to have dinner. Afterward, he stopped to play a slot machine. In very short order he built up his account to over $400.00. He asked if I was going to gamble to which I replied that I don't like to gamble because it never goes well.

He pestered me off and on all week while we were there. Finally on the last day, I had some money left over from my meal expense account so I told him I'd prove it to him how poorly it will go. I took $20.00 and began playing the slot machine of his choice. The $20.00 was gone in less than a dozen pulls of the arm. I look to him and said, "I rest my case!"

I wouldn't say playing the Lottery is outright sinful, just inherently risky. What if you win?

How does the pastor refraining from buying a lottery ticket stop a poor person from buying one?

On a lighter note, if you want to gamble then bet on a sure thing, next paid day take $20 $50 and give it to your local mission its a win win situation..

I can't say that I've given this area a lot of thought, but I'm inclined to believe that Christians are better off, or rather 'right', to stay away from playing the lottery or any other form of gambling. Even if it's just on occasion.
