On a lighter note, if you want to gamble then bet on a sure thing, next paid day take $20 $50 and give it to your local mission its a win win situation..

Or buy a person at a restaurant or the drive thru their meal.Anonymously.

those who aren't cubanos and Floridians wont know what jai alai is.

I know what Jai lai is. I used to watch Miami Vice, lol.

Sometimes I buy a lotto ticket when the jackpot is way up there. It's more entertainment for me. I don't buy lotto tics regularly. Gambling is like going to the movies for me. Once in awhile its ok but it's not a way of life.

What would you do with the money if you won a huge lottery?

I knew this would be a lively discussion and I see while I was asleep there has been some very good conversation. Thank you for summarizing my message Jethro, I was feeling a bit heavy and I left that important point off as well as the truth that I no longer place bets anywhere. I don't buy lotto tickets either but if I did and I did win, straight up half would go to ministries other than my own. Most of the other half would go to my Church and to Children's Ministries. But, and this is a big but, you have to buy the ticket first and the only two lotto tickets I've held since my conversion were a misspent Christmas gift from a Japanese friend. I can't ever win because I have beter ministries to invest my money in.

Here ya go reba..

Don't give her any ideas.

What would you do with the money if you won a huge lottery?

Since I occasionally buy Eurojackpot tickets, I've actually given that some thought. I would take enough money aside for myself that I could live off it for the rest of my life, without having to work a regular job, and invest it so that it was secure (gold and silver, for example). Then I would take the rest and start a fund to help people in the third world. I'm not sure exactly how I would help, but things that come to mind are building schools and drilling for clean water.

How does the pastor refraining from buying a lottery ticket stop a poor person from buying one?

If he counseled the poor members of his flock not to buy them, then he had to set the example himself by not buying them, or even accepting them in the collection plate. You can't reasonably expect others to do what you aren't willing to do yourself.

It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak. Romans 14:21 KJV

They say the biggest mistake that those who win the huge jackpots is they change their way of living. Some go broke.

I believe I remember a couple of articles where it is reported most end up in horrible debt. Folks do not understand it but the rich get richer by living well below their income level (like they are broke) and the poor get poorer by living like they are rich.

If somebody drove through my meal anonymously I'd be pretty durn mad.

That does not say that someone is going to drive through their meal.

I have quite a bit more than a "modest" stash. But I have always (except once) bought used cars. I drive them for at least ten years, if they hold up. I seldom eat out at fancy restaurants. (Maybe three times a year) I even tear paper towels in half if that is all I need for a spill. Most of my clothes come from thrift shops. I live in a three bedroom home built in 1954, for which I paid $15,500.

I would not have the steady income from that pile of money if I had spent it as fast as it came in.

They just have to know how to handle it in wisely. They go crazy with it.

Does this mean, in order to convey our intention in our posts, we should actually use the punctuation they taught us in grade school?

In all fairness, she DID try, even if the sentence didn't flow too well.
