Well,
This is an internal matter for China. One province overstepped its authority and the residents of Hubei were backing up their own police force.

People just wanted to go back to work...and when the Hubei traffic cops were being arrested for doing their jobs...their people backed them up with a nasty riot.

And all of this is, generally speaking, from a lack of transparency in China...on both ends.

There's a backlash against China right now even over needed medical supplies. Many countries are refusing shipments of testing supplies and masks and etc from there.
They are saying that masks dont fit or have sufficient filters and tests that dont work.

And that's probably true...

But this is going to get ugly before its over.

On cars it used to be reman,expect problems,new was ok.now its both .

I also live in a small valley town of about 5 or 6 thousand.
We started out with 1 who left here to go into a city - I dont' know which one; maybe Pisa maybe Florence....or others, then it became 15 within one week. I believe it's over now and stabilized, but, yes, the town had to be cut off as the article states.

Even my small hometown, which numbers about 400, has 6 cases because the granddaughter works here in a small supermarket.
The contagion rate is alarming.

About half of the donated masks are sub standard. They appear to be having a complicated time restarting their factories, and maintaining quality in them. 19 has totally affected the entire global supply chain. Restarting the US may be similarly complicated.

That has nothing to do with the FDA dithering on K95 approval though. Just test the masks as they come in to find out which factories are able to maintain quality during restart. If half of them are good, that is more than we have now. US factories haven't been able to ramp production of masks to meet demand, and shortages are becoming critical. We have no choice except to import and test masks as they enter the country, if we want to have masks.

Once this 19 situation is resolved, bring back an honest dollar so free market capitalism can once again manufacture stuff in the USA. We don't want to be this vulnerable to imports again. Bank central planning of the economy doesn't work. Dishonest money has led to manufacturing fleeing the USA.

These masks aren't donated...they were bought and paid for. But they weren't what the manufacturers claimed them to be.

They are crap...and coming out of China.

What good is a test that only works 30% of the time?
