"David" a man after "GODS OWN HEART"

:thumbsup Good morning Deb13:wave All by promise, God will raise up those who have a "heart" to build the "House" of HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS!

David sinned grievously and Psalm 51 is evidence of his grief and repentance. He was still a man after God's own heart, and for the likes of me, this is very encouraging to think of God's immense patience with sinners.

Blessings.

:thumbsup Good morning Deb13:wave All by promise, God will raise up those who have a "heart" to build the "House" of HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS!

David may have had a heart to build a House for God, but if you remember, because of his actions, he was not allowed to build the Temple, Solomon was given that task. Actions, works, have consequences, whether they be good or bad.

Well I think my friend "felix" has interrupted the thread. If you will look back, the conversation has all been drawn from the Psalms into our own relationship with God. Which I believe is the correct use of the Psalms for us today. I believe David represents to us several NT truths? First he is clearly a "picture of the coming King", Our Beloved Christ!:-)

Also I believe David represents the "New Creation" man, "the spiritual man" of the New Covenant

He not only is a picture of a coming king, he is a coming king...

Jer 30:7 Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.
Jer 30:8 For it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more serve themselves of him:
Jer 30:9 But they shall serve the LORD their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up unto them.

In the Millenium, David will be king over all the tribes of Israel, the twelve (Matthias in Judas place) will rule each over a tribe. Christ is to be King of kings, there will be kings under Christ, but they will be subject to Him.

David may have had a heart to build a House for God, but if you remember, because of his actions, he was not allowed to build the Temple, Solomon was given that task. Actions, works, have consequences, whether they be good or bad.

I do not dispute that! David's "seed" had to build the house? Who is that" seed"?:wave

Solomon built the physical Temple and he was a type of Christ who is building His Spiritual Temple. Just about everything in the Bible is type and anti-type.

I guess we have to look at David in all the types he represented?

We might say, he is a very deep subject:-)

Psa 92:1

A Psalm or Song for the sabbath day.It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High:
Psa 92:2

To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night,
Psa 92:3

Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound.
Psa 92:4

For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands.
Psa 92:5

O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.

Psa 92:6

A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand
this.

How bitter would this life be apart from His Love and kindness?
Apart from His Love no man can know Him!

Eph 3:16

That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
Eph 3:17

That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
Eph 3:18

May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
Eph 3:19

And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
Eph 3:20

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,:thumbsup

Psa 12:1

To the chief Musician upon Sheminith, A Psalm of David. Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.
Psa 12:2

They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.
Psa 12:3

The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:
Psa 12:4

Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?
Psa 12:5

For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.
Psa 12:6

The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

Your Lord is very jealous of your love, O believer. Did he choose you? He cannot bear that you should choose another. Did he buy you with his own blood? He cannot endure that you should think that you are your own, or that you belong to this world. He loved you with such a love that he would not stop in heaven without you; he would sooner die than you should perish, and he cannot endure that anything should stand between your heart’s love and himself. He is very jealous of your trust. He will not permit you to trust in an arm of flesh. He cannot bear that you should hew out broken cisterns, when the overflowing fountain is always free to you. When we lean upon him, he is glad, but when we transfer our dependence to another, when we rely upon our own wisdom, or the wisdom of a friend-worst of all, when we trust in any works of our own, he is displeased, and will chasten us that he may bring us to himself. He is also very jealous of our company. There should be no one with whom we converse so much as with Jesus. To abide in him only, this is true love; but to commune with the world, to find sufficient solace in our carnal comforts, to prefer even the society of our fellow Christians to secret intercourse with him, this is grievous to our jealous Lord. -C. Spurgeon

Psa 37:1

A Psalm of David. Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.
Psa 37:2

For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.
Psa 37:3

Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
Psa 37:4

Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Psa 37:5

Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
Psa 37:6

And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
Psa 37:7

Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

"Commit thy way unto the Lord."Roll the whole burden of life upon the Lord. Leave with Jehovah not thy present fretfulness merely, but all thy cares; in fact, submit the whole tenor of thy way to him. Cast away anxiety, resign thy will, submit thy judgment, leave all with the God of all. What a medicine is this for expelling envy! What a high attainment does this fourth precept indicate! How blessed must he be who lives every day in obedience to it! "Trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass."Our destiny shall be joyfully accomplished if we confidently entrust all to our Lord. We may serenely sing -
"Thy way, not mine, O Lord,
However dark it be;
O lead me by thine own right hand,
Choose out the path for me.
Smooth let it be or rough,
It will be still the best;
Winding or straight, it matters not,
It leads me to thy rest.
I dare not choose my lot,
I would not if I might;
But choose Thou for me, O my God.
So shall I walk aright.
Take thou my cup, and it
With joy or sorrow fill;
As ever best to thee may seem.
Choose thou my good and ill."

The ploughman sows and harrows, and then leaves the harvest to God. What can he do else? He cannot cover the heavens with clouds, or command the rain, or bring forth the sun or create the dew. He does well to leave the whole matter with God; and so to all of us it is truest wisdom, having obediently trusted in God, to leave results in his hands, and expect a blessed issue.- C. Spurgeon

Rom 4:6

Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
Rom 4:7

Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
Rom 4:8

Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

Psa 32:9

Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.
Psa 32:10

Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about.
Psa 32:11

Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.

David knew that which Abraham knew, that faith in the heart purifies the heart! This is the "Old Paths" that were never closed. Enoch walked in Faith, and pleased God!

Gal 3:6

Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
Gal 3:7

Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
Gal 3:8

And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
Gal 3:9

So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

1Sa 16:7

But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.
1Sa 16:8

Then Jesse called Abinadab, and made him pass before Samuel. And he said, Neither hath the LORD chosen this.
1Sa 16:9

Then Jesse made Shammah to pass by. And he said, Neither hath the LORD chosen this.
1Sa 16:10

Again, Jesse made seven of his sons to pass before Samuel. And Samuel said unto Jesse, The LORD hath not chosen these.
1Sa 16:11

And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither.
1Sa 16:12

And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the LORD said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he.
1Sa 16:13

Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.

How Good is our God? Men will always seek that which looks good to the eyes. This is how Saul became King! But God raises up men in hidden places, He always works from the heart outward!

"Clean the inside of the cup, then the outside will be clean also"

Yes.

But the Scriptures also say:

2 Thessalonians 2:11 "And for this cause GOD SHALL SEND THEM strong delusion, that they should believe a lie."

And,

John 9:39 "And Jesus said, 'For judgment I have come into this world, that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may be made blind.'"

And,

Matthew 13:10 "And the disciples came and said to Him, 'Why do You speak to them in parables?'"

Matthew 13:11 "He answered and said to them, 'Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, BUT TO THEM IT HAS NOT BEEN GIVEN.
Matthew 13:12 For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.
Matthew 13:13 Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.'"

Matthew 13:14
"And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says:
'Hearing you will hear and shall not understand,
And seeing you will see and not perceive.'"

And,

Isaiah 3:1 "For, behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water,
Isaiah 3:2 The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient,
Isaiah 3:3 The captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counsellor, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator."

It is "the Lord Of Hosts" who has "taken away the whole stay of bread and water." It is because the "Lord Himself has deceived a prophet" that many are confused:

Ezekiel 14:9 "And if the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the LORD have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel."

The Truth is "the sum of God's Word" and not just 'some of God's Word'.

Psalms 119:160 "THE SUM of thy word is truth; And every one of thy righteous ordinances endureth for ever."

Add to that the words of our Lord Himself,

Matthew 4:4 "But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by EVERY WORD that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."

So when you twist His words to make a "sound bite" for the purpose of conforming to your "forum comeback," as you did, then "out of your own mouth" you make the Word of God void and of none effect. :nono2

None of your scriptures relate in any way with the point I made or of the topic of this thread? Now some of you just kinda float around the forum, looking to start trouble and strife? maybe you are not trying to do that? but some do:-)

If you have a point on this thread, I will be glad to respond!

Uh, no. He's right. So is wayseer.

The 'key' of David both LOCKS doors and UNlocks them. That is the witness of understanding the whole counsel of God, even the 'bad parts' personally, as David also clearly showed in his own life.

That 'key' to the kingdom was also shown in Peter, where the Word of Truth was in his mouth from heaven one minute and in almost the next breath, SATAN himself was speaking through Peter's own mouth.

That KEY is the same as THEE PARABLE to understand all parables in Mark 4.

If you look at the progression of this parable in Mark 4, it is those who HEAR and understand the first 'leg' of the parable personally are also the ones called to progress at each stage of TRUTHFUL GROWTH.

Most believers instantly transform themselves into the LAST stage and completely REJECT the first stage, and in that they provide entertainment to those who see it properly:

I like to see it as the 'these are they' exercise in understandings. For the record I accept the first, second and third leg of the parable PERSONALLY from 'hard experiences.' And hope to find some WHEAT on the STALK worth harvesting at the end in His Eyes.

Mark 4:15

And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.

Mark 4:16

And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness;

Mark 4:18

And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,

Mark 4:20

And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.

Nearly every believer thinks themselves automatically at this last state, when in fact in order to 'get there' they have to be led to TAKE the first stage FIRST.

And it can be pointed to all the day long and most will NEVER get it, not even in a lifetime.

I think its very amusing when some claim the "whole counsel" of God?
when its clear that some do not even understand the basics of salvation!

No, I think I will stick to the Gospel that saved me, and gives me the Kingdom of God!:thumbsup

Some believers understand that every Word of God is applicable to them as opposed to falling into the denial pit...

There's a principal that Jesus showed us, that those who deny Him (His Words) will be denied before God and the messengers that are sent to them may not be all that accurate, even though they sound good on paper.

Smooth prophets and prophecies aren't much different in their actions and intentions today than they were a few thousand years ago.
