"David" a man after "GODS OWN HEART"

Some believers understand that every Word of God is applicable to them as opposed to falling into the denial pit...

There's a principal that Jesus showed us, that those who deny Him (His Words) will be denied before God and the messengers that are sent to them may not be all that accurate, even though they sound good on paper.

Smooth prophets and prophecies aren't much different in their actions and intentions today than they were a few thousand years ago.

Act 13:22

And when he had removed him, he raised up David to be their king; to whom also he bare witness and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My heart, who shall do all My will.

David (well-beloved, dear)

I have some ideas about why God "elected" David, I do think his name gives a strong clue. For God is Love and to have a heart for God, one would and must desire to be loved.

I think John uses the term "the disciple whom Jesus loved" in speaking of "himself"? Is there a hidden strength in David and John? For when all the others left the Lord at His Cross, only John remained, and was not afraid!

1Jn 4:17

Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
1Jn 4:18

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
1Jn 4:19

We love him, because he first loved us.

Only John was able to stand on that great and terrible day!:chin

Psa 2:1

Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
Psa 2:2

The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,
Psa 2:3

Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
Psa 2:4

He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.

I believe one of the things that show the heart of David is a fearless attitude? For he even had killed the lion and the bear as a mere shepherd boy. I have always loved the way that David overcame Goliath, I think we would missed much if we accounted it as human bravery or strength. Davids strength was the Lord, and he was the "Lords anointed"

1Sa 17:34

And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father's sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:
1Sa 17:35

And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.
1Sa 17:36

Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.
1Sa 17:37

David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee.

The heart of David, is a heart that has no fear of man nor beast!

Psa 17:7

Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them.
Psa 17:8

Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,
Psa 17:9

From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.
Psa 17:10

They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly.

To know the Love of God, is to know God!
David (beloved of God)

Eph 3:17

That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
Eph 3:18

May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
Eph 3:19

And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

Dont be deceived, God is Love, and those who know Him, know His Love!

David was also a cold blooded killer who committed premeditated murder and adultery. Similar observations can be made about many Old Testament figures.

Yes! Gods mercy is amazing! He restored David and made him great among all men!
Psa 51:4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
Psa 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
Psa 51:6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
Psa 51:7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Psa 51:8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
Psa 51:9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
Psa 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
Psa 51:11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
Psa 51:12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
Psa 51:13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
Psa 51:14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.
Psa 51:15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.
Psa 51:16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.
Psa 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

Yes! Gods mercy is amazing! He restored David and made him great among all men!

God also killed a baby, Davids son, over David's sin, caused David's wives to commit adultery over David's sin and promised that the sword would never depart his house and that EVIL would be raised from same, which assuredly came to pass.

"Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife. Thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun.

God also sent the messengers of death which killed THOUSANDS of Israelites over David's sins.

Grace, grace you say unto any man's evil? Those 'blessed' men of the Lord?

Far far far from true.

Yeah, that Grace. The Grace that cuts no corners off to excuse the wicked.

I know smaller God is mad, and so are you!

Well He is not mad at me, He is very pleased with me and all those who are pure in heart!

I know smaller God is mad, and so are you!

I expect God to be and to work against sin and evil. Why would that make me mad?

Well He is not mad at me, He is very pleased with me and all those who are pure in heart!

heh heh heh. You do provide entertainment. I'll give you credit for that.

Eph 3:16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
Eph 3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
Eph 3:18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
Eph 3:19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.[/U]
Eph 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
Eph 3:21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

The Biblical text also says that the devil is pretty good at quoting scripture.

Yes, but a "righteous man" lives by every Word that proceeds from the Mouth of God!

Are you suggesting that your devil is 'righteous'.

Besides I suggest that Jesus said that none of us are righteous other than God.

Are you suggesting that your devil is 'righteous'.

Besides I suggest that Jesus said that none of us are righteous other than God.

2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
2Co 5:18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
2Co 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
2Co 5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
2Co 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Rom 5:18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
Rom 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

BACK TO THE TOPIC

Rom 4:6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
Rom 4:7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
Rom 4:8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

David knew the Righteousness of faith

Psa 23:1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
Psa 23:2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
Psa 23:3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Psa 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Psa 23:5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Psa 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

At The Lords Table, we see those who are His and those who are not?
For those who know Him, His mercy and Goodness are the bread of Life!
For those who have hearts as Judas, the Lords table, His Word and Gospel, become a snare unto them. For here is where they all betray Him.

Joh 13:25 He then lying on Jesus' breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it?
Joh 13:26 Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.
Joh 13:27 And after the sop Satan entered into him.
Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.
Joh 13:28 Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him.

"John" knew and "David" knew? We who know His Love, can see who the betrayers are!
For when they come to His table, thier true hearts are revealed!

Then how does this theology gell with Jesus saying that no one is good except God?

2Co 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

1Co 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

I am nothing of myself, but in Him I am Righteous!

Php 3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

As I said - how does your theology gell with Jesus saying that no one is good except God?

And please don't quote scripture - anyone can do that.
