Did God create hell?

Yes it's a place torment! What you're not understanding is that when you compare God to hell, they are the complete oppossite of each other. God is love/satan is hatred - God is peace/satan is fear - God is humility/satan is pride - God is joy/satan is torment - Heaven is joy/hell is torment. etc etc... - thesaurus..com Grappler.
Are you deliberatly being obtuse or do really not have a clue to what i am saying?lol I will break this down very simple. God is the creator of the universe and all there in...do you believe and understand this? I am going to go out on a limb and say that you agree. Hell was or is (depending on how you look at it) also created by God. The scripture says in a prophetical sense that it is a place prepared for the devil and his angels. Do you understand that God prepared that place? Are you still with me? Ok..God is all powerful...he doesn't have to torture unbelievers for eternity if he doesn't want to. According to my views of scripture he does not...according to your views of scripture God allows people to suffer in unimaginable torment (some of your family and friends by the way) for ever and ever and ever. While you are in the Kingdom some people that you loved or liked in life are screaming in agony....at least according to your view. Nice huh?

Because scripture is clear on this topic I think this is an emotional doubt issue. I found this on Apologetics 315 site.

How To Deal With Emotional Doubts

Our thought life is central to living a vibrant Christian life. In Romans 12:2, Paul says that the way we resist the pattern of this world is by renewing our minds. Now he could have said a lot of different things instead of mind—heart, emotions, worship—but he didn’t. The reason is that what we think about and what we believe are critical to how we live. Dallas Willard, a Christian philosopher who has done a lot of work in the area of spiritual formation, offers penetrating insight into the interplay of thoughts and emotions:
Our thoughts are one of the most basic sources of our life. They determine the orientation of everything we do and evoke the feelings that frame our world and motivate our actions. Interestingly, you can’t evoke thoughts by feeling a certain way, but you can evoke and to some degree control feelings by directing your thoughts. Our power over our thoughts is of great and indispensable assistance in directing and controlling our feelings, which themselves are not directly under the guidance of our will. We cannot just choose our feelings.
We don’t have direct control over how we feel. But we can indirectly affect our emotions by thinking in certain ways. If we want to get at the root of the emotional doubt, then we have to change our thinking and stop allowing ourselves to believe lies. We must tell ourselves the truth—God’s truth—until we accept it. Again, this is not a one-time remedy; it’s a habit we need to build into our life.

In light of this, I hope that you will no longer feel ashamed when you experience doubt, nor idly sit by and allow emotional doubt to paralyze you with fear. I will let the poignant words of Oswald Chambers conclude our discussion: “Unless we train our emotions they will lead us around by the nose, and we will be captives to every passing impulse or reaction. But once faith is trained to control the emotions and knows how to lean reso- lutely against weakness of character, another entry way of doubt is sealed shut forever . . . Much of our distress as Christians comes not because of sin, but because we are ignorant of the laws of our own nature.”

How do you know who God is when you can't even tell me who Jesus Christ is? Please! Christianity 101. The first step is getting out of kindergarten.

Wow! I guess we better back up. I thought the topic of this thread was about Hell. But if you don't know who Jesus Christ is we better cover that first. Jesus Christ is the Son of God...to put it short and simple. Wait a minute...maybe you should just start a new thread about "who is Jesus" because that is a good topic....nothing to do with the topic of this thread...just saying. Now do you want to continue discussing a loving God allowing the unimaginable torment of unbelievers for eternity or do you want to discuss something else?

Universalists have a differant gospel message. They worship a differant God. They refuse to allow God to be who He clearly claims to be in scripture. Universalists only want a "loving" God. They ignore is holiness, justice and righteousness which are in complete balance with is love.

When people belittle hell they belittle sin and the cross. It all goes hand in hand.

Discussing a loving God that created a hell, you would have to know who Jesus is first in order to know why he created a hell. Jesus Christ is the Son of God, ok so how would a sinner obtain salvation and eternal life?

Uh...let me take a guess...accept Jesus as his saviour?

Do they?lol I don't know much about Universalists. So i take it they don't think torturing someone for eternity is consistent with God's character either huh? So do you think after eons and eons have elapsed and we are hanging out in Heaven that some of our "unsaved" friends are still going to be screaming in agony? As we banter back and forth it just occured to me that neither you nor urk wanted to know any scripture that allows the possibility of the torment and agony of the unsaved coming to an end...strange.

Maybe because we're too busy trying to keep you from the agony. Post#49. Grappler, did you also know that the devil is also known as the 'accuser'?

You belittle eternal hell every single day of your life. If you truly believe that an eternal torture chamber exists, you should be spending every waking moment frantically trying to save as many souls as you can. Just remember, this life is infinitely short compared to eternity.

You don't act like it, so why keep saying it? You're only fooling yourself.

No Grappler, accept Jesus as your savior. What must you do in order to accept him, what action do you need to take?
I have already accepted Jesus as my saviour years and years ago...maybe you better accept him as your saviour especially since you believe that if you don't you will suffer eternal torment.:yes

If you already accepted him, then what action did you take? If I'm a sinner, then why aren't you telling me what to do to obtain salvation?

Where's the scripture? maybe because we're too busy trying to keep you from the agony. Post#49.
There's plenty of verses that teach you to repent. Grappler, did you also know that the devil is also known as the 'accuser'?
Finally! someone actually asked for scripture. Ok lets start with just one for now but it is the most popular verse in the bible. John 3:16. Whoever believes in the Son (that would be Jesus) will be given what? Yes! everlasting life. And to those who don't? Yes! they will perish. Now according to you people that want an eternal burning Hell those who don't believe are also granted everlasting life...everlasting life in unimaginable agony. Now if you believe in the Son you get what? eternal life. If you don't believe in the Son you get what? eternal life in Hell. Wrong...they perish...cease to exsist....destroyed...second death....get it?:-)

If you already accepted him, then what action did you take? If I'm a sinner, then why aren't you telling me what to do to obtain salvation?
Lol you are just dying to open another can of worms aren't you? You can't stick with this topic but you want to go to another topic. Believe me when you are through talking about your eternal hell then we can move onto the topic of salvation...but for now lets just stick to a loving God allowing unbelievers to live eternally in a torture chamber.

Now according to you people that want an eternal burning Hell those who don't believe are also granted everlasting life

Who said that we want hell for unbelievers, all this time we've been trying to keep you from hell. I didn't create hell. God did!! Grappler, you're acting like Satan doesn't exist or doesn't have a home?

Whoever believes in the Son (that would be Jesus) will be given what? Yes! everlasting life.

Yes, but are you also confessing this too? Romans 10:9 Do you think Jesus is God deity or just the son?

Matthew 25:41 - Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.
Revelation 20:10 - The devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

If I were you, I'd be worried about hell eventually coming into existence. Again, is Jesus God deity or just the son?

Lol you just quoted two verses that are prophetic do you understand that means the future? Do you understand that means that hell does not exist yet? Why would i worry? Ever read John 3:16? My Lord Jesus promised me that i would have eternal life.:yes
