In this study, I hope to discuss a vital subject that relates to our spiritual growth and salvation.
Cultivating a love for the truth, in the fear of the Lord.
The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12
What is the truth?
First and foremost we need to understand that the truth is both something as well as Someone.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6
However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. John 16:13
Jesus Christ is the truth.
Every word that proceeds out of His mouth is the truth.
The fullness of the truth is expressed in:
His Gospel
His Doctrine
His Commandments
To those who believe in Him, He said -
Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:31-32
The key to becoming free is knowing the truth.
The key to knowing the truth is abiding (remaining, continuing) in His word; His teaching, His doctrine.
Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. 2 John 1:9
In this study, I hope to stimulate a good discussion that will lead us all to have a deeper commitment and love for the truth.
Be blessed!
