Amen. That’s a good analogy of what the Lord means by hating your family.
Simply put to love your family less than your love for the Lord.
I don’t know what that is.
I just read what the scriptures say and study the scriptures and ask the Holy Spirit to lead and guide me into the truth that the scriptures teach.
Then are ye bastards and not sons !

6For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
7If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
8But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.
If the Lord chastens all whom He loves, and if He Loves all men without exception, then all men without exception are chastened of the Lord. Now if that is True, then why did this inspired writer of Hebrews say, If ye be without chastening, then are ye bastards and NOT Sons ! How could he write such a comment if He believed that God Loved all men without exception ? If he believed that, then was he careless and foolish to say some could be bastards and not Son. For how could a possibility of that even happen,if God Loved all men without exception ! The reason why he said it however, is because he knew that God did not Love all men without exception. 4

Yes He does mean hate our families when they are in rival with His Gospel, then are we to reject them in that regard, have no fellowship with them. Say for instance ones mother, who he loves naturally of course, is involved with a false religion, a false gospel, that person is to be hated/rejected for Christs name sake, you cant tell your mom you love her in the Lord, that would be major compromise. David hated men who took the Lords Name in vain , that's a godly hate of that person Ps 139:19-22
19 Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men.
20 ;For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain.
21 Do not I hate them, O Lord, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?
22 ;I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.

In the Jewish culture, those that would turn away from Judaism to follow the Lord were persecuted by their own family in an attempt to turn them back to Judaism; a religion that denies Jesus as the Messiah.
Jesus was teaching His disciples in order to prepare them for such persecution.
Here is the warning to Jews in the first century from the book of Hebrews.
For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame. Hebrews 6:4-6
Fall away is an extremely serious word which means to renounce Jesus as Messiah and return to Judaism; a religion that denies Jesus as Messiah.
Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us. 1 John 2:18-19
Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. 1 John 2:22
To go out from us is specific language to returning to the antichrist religion of Judaism that denies Jesus as Messiah.
Once a person who has been born again and given the Holy Spirit, if the turn back to Judaism they can never be brought back to repentance; they can never return to the LORD since they have put Him to an open shame.

Jesus is not talking about having hate in your heart for the people above. All He means is that Jesus must have priority over them.
Your retired Mother who doesn't go to Church, always wants to come over and visit on Sunday morning. You have a choice - put your Mother first and skip Church to please her, or tell her no, I go to Church on Sunday morning, putting the Lord first. If you do that, your Mother will say "you don't love me anymore," or something like that.
Your 14 year old daughter wants to go to a night time party where there will be high school boys there and maybe drugs.
She says "if you love me you will let me go." You say no because and quote some Scriptures. She runs to her bedroom and slams the door and says "you don't love me anymore" or maybe "you hate me."
That's kind of what Jesus is talking about. You take seriously what the Lord says about your responsibilities in being a husband or father and do what is right, even if they don't like and think you are acting like a **s hole.

I'm not skipping through any rose field and I don't know many Christians that are.
I also had spoken of God's justice.

He loves His creation (us) but He is also just and will give to each
man what he deserves.
