Many verse show the Lord's hatred for the unregenerate, I understand that.

I do not believe we can fully grasp His love/hate relationship to the regenerate and unregenerate.

Here is where I struggle with God's love.

The rich young man walked away grieving, we know he was not saved.

How do we reconcile verse 21, that Jesus loved him?

Mar k10:17 And as He was setting out on a journey, a man ran up to Him and knelt before Him, and began asking Him, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”
Mark 10:18 And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God alone.
Mark 10:19 “You know the commandments, ‘DO NOT MURDER, DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, DO NOT STEAL, DO NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS, Do not defraud, HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER.’”
Mark 10:20 And he said to Him, “Teacher, I have kept all these things from my youth up.”
Mark 10:21 And looking at him, Jesus loved him and said to him, “One thing you lack: go and sell all you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”
Mar k10:22 But at these words he was saddened, and he went away grieving, for he was one who owned much property.
Mark 10:23 And Jesus, looking around, *said to His disciples, “How hard it will be for those who are wealthy to enter the kingdom of God!”

Thoughts???

If you can't get the answer from my previous post, then you are looking for the answer in your imagination.

Can you answer my question?

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

  • For God so loved the world

Do you believe this statement from our Lord about God loving the world?

I believe Jesus that God loves the world.

Many verse show the Lord's hatred for the unregenerate, I understand that.

Maybe you could share some verses where Jesus said He hated a person.

If Jesus taught that we should love our enemies so as to be perfect as our Heavenly Father, then there really isn’t much to reconcile about God’s love.

Psalms 11:5 Yahweh tests the righteous, But the wicked and the one who loves violence His soul hates.

Proverbs 15:9 The way of the wicked is an abomination to Yahweh, But He loves one who pursues righteousness.

There are many more.

Yes David said the way of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD.

Do you think God and Christ's thoughts are different on doctrine?

🤔 ... perhaps the young man was saved. I grant the case for it is an uphill battle. Perhaps Jesus' statement was a general one concerning the rich and did not apply to this specific person. Gee, most of us Americans are rich compared to this guy. That's not a good omen.
If the young guy went to hell then I don't know of another person God said He loved that is in hell.

🤔 Jacob and the 'young man' I loved and Esau I hated. Love means favored so I think the "young man" has a chance.

The defense rests ... *giggle*

Lets look at Rom 1:8

We are looking at the different ways the word world is used , and exposing the negligence of all those who render Jn 3:16, as meaning that God there is being said to Love all men without exception, when the verse does not say that, it's a lie !

Rom 1:8

8First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.

This actually is more of what John 3:16 means, that God Loved men and women throughout the whole world.

Now here in Rom 1:8 the word world would be limited to the Roman Empire or that region. People in Egypt at that time could care less about their Faith in Christ Jesus and probably never heard of Him. It is even doubtful that every single individual without exception in the Roman Empire is even included in this statement !

Lets look at also Rom 11:12

12Now if the fall of them[ Ethnic Israel] be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?

The word world here means the Gentiles, and it is even restricted in that sense as well, to be only the Elect Gentiles in the world. 4

The world consists of individuals and God loves individuals. If you aren't satisfied with this answer, then I think you read with prejudice.

I asked you to provide verses I asked you to provide verses where Jesus, the Man Jesus Christ, stated where He said He hated a person.
Why did you ignore this one: Psalms 11:5 "Yahweh tests the righteous, But the wicked and the one who loves violence His soul hates"?
"the one" is referring to a person. If you ignore this, then are you not reading with prejudice and have an agenda? Jesus is God, therefore whatever God says in the OT is equally truthful about Jesus. God has wrath, therefore Jesus "the Lamb" also has wrath for evil people and unbelievers.

Another one: Prov. 6:16-19 "These six things the LORD hates... A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren."
Both "false witness" and "one who" is referring to persons.

So here is a question for you: can God love and hate at the same time? If people can love and hate a person at the same time, and we are made in God's image, then cannot God love and hate a person at the same time?

Of course, Jesus taught we should love our enemies, and there is a traditional modern cliche' that says "hate the sin, but love the sinner," which may be true depending on how it is used. It's not an either-or situation, if that's what you are trying to force with your questions.

So then, can God love and hate a person at the same time?

You have your answer.

Jesus is the word.

No scriptures from the Lord Jesus teaching us He hates some people?

That’s what I thought.

Now that you plainly see that God truly loves the world and has called everyone to repent and turn to Jesus Christ to be saved, I hope you yourself will repent for teaching that God hates some people and chooses them for eternal damnation while loving others and choosing them for eternal life.

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9

Yes I agree that God loves the individuals of the world.

Where have I ever said that?

You really should not post lies about people.

I gave you Scripture about God hating the umregenerate and never said a thing about double predestination.

Last I checked, God is Jesus come in the flesh.

So show me some examples Jesus gave where God hates the world of the unsaved.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Why would Jesus make such a statement If God didn't love the people of the world, and desire to see them saved, which is why He sent His son?
