Hi D,
If you doubt the afterlife, you will NOT be seeing any darkness...
If you darkness it means your still conscious and living after you've died.

Here's the solution to the problem....

You need to make up your mind as to WHO Jesus was.
Was He God?
Was He a liar?
Was He a crazy man that thought He was God?

If you believe Jesus was God, then you have to believe what He taught.
Jesus taught that there is life after death and that we go someplace to spend the rest of eternity.
Those that have faith in God and obey Him are considered to be children of God.
Children of God will go to spend eternity with Him.

If you believe Jesus was crazy or a liar, then you should pay no attention to what He taught.

Well?

Contemplating mortality is normal especially at your age. I dunno ?‍♂️

Jesus Christ is pretty explicit about what happens to us after death. Judgment paradise or hell. Turn to Him before you turn to any mere human being for reassurance or understanding…

Does God love you?

Do you love God?

If you can answer a confident "Yes!" to these questions, you have absolutely no need to fear your eternal future with your Heavenly Father.

You know, the best answer to these doubts and fears you have is the Truth. At the core of each of them is the invitation to believe a lie, you see. Are you making any effort, then, to know the Truth? Do you ever bother to memorize God's word, the Truth, as it applies to your questions and concerns? Do you study the Bible? The only way you're going to become stable and confident in your life as a Christian is to invest in God's word. It's your "milk" and "meat" spiritually; the Light and Guide that God has given you by which to navigate life; the source of your beliefs and practices as a child of God (Matthew 4:4; 1 Peter 2:2; Psalms 119:105, 130; 2 Timothy 3:16-17). And so, if you've got a flimsy, shallow grasp on what it says to you, well, you're going to remain a leaf blown about by every wind of doubt and fear that touches you. Is this really what you want? If not, get into God's word and begin to feed daily on it. And then, having "eaten" it, live it out!

Doubt only comes by Satan planting doubt in our minds. To know the truth of the word of God will set you free from all doubt. After this body dies it has no more thoughts or consciousness, but laid to rest unto the coming of the Lord where we will be resurrected and caught up to meet Him in the air and forevermore will be with Him.

1Cor 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
1Cor 15:51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
1Cor 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
1Cor 15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
1Cor 15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
1Cor 15:55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

1Th 4:13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
1Th 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
1Th 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
1Th 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
1Th 4:18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Now go read Revelation Chapter 21 for this is where our afterlife will be for eternity that even now we yearn for that day when Jesus returns on the last day and we being a live or in the grave will be caught up to Him and ever more will be with him in paradises for all eternity.

Come quickly Lord Jesus.

There is nothing wrong with doubts or questions, so long as we are prepared to find answers.
Just what does Jesus say about the after life?
In his story about the rich man and the bigger, when they died they were both Immediately in there destinations.
John 14:2+3 about heaven having lots of rooms and that Jesus not only is readying then, but that he wants us to be with him.

It's a fact that those of us who are alive don't really know what happens when we die.
We believe that we know, we have to trust in Jesus.
