John was probably given Revelation in the year 65AD. If so, then everything that happens after 65AD can be a 'hereafter'.

That is not what I asked..

I asked you how you came up with the context of Rev 11 being the Jewish civil war when that appears nowhere in the context...?

And for the record.. It's futile to remove the living and powerful word of God from its own biblical context... And when John writes the things which are, they must align with the things which are... Just as his writing the things which shall be hereafter must align with the things which shall be hereafter..

Does his writing of the things which are pertain to the church... Of course it does.. And every other Apostles testimony aligns with the way things are right here, right now...

Does his writing of the things which shall be hereafter align with the other Apostles testimony concerning the future... Well, that's only if you see the living and powerful words of the Apostles applicable to what they wrote concerning the future... And that would of course be the Day of The Lord..

Do the Apostles speak of the Day of The Lord as a future reality... No doubt about it.. Each Apostle which speaks of the Day of The Lord applies it within a future context to the body of Christ, the Lord's church.

IMO this is undeniable... And of course many simply can't fathom the simple truth that The Lord can speak of the future, maybe in the past... But certainly not today..

I guess I just have eyes to see. Also there is the fact that the Jewish civil war happened shortly 'hereafter' John was given Revelation, and the subject matter aligns with what we now know has happened. Then there is the minor clue of the first three verses of Revelation. And there's more...

You certainly have not given any scripture in Revelation 11 that suggests the events of 70 AD.


3 And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth." 4 These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands standing before the God of the earth. 5 And if anyone wants to harm them, fire proceeds from their mouth and devours their enemies. And if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this manner.

If this happened in 70 AD then the whole Roman army would have been wiped out.


6 These have power to shut heaven, so that no rain falls in the days of their prophecy; and they have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to strike the earth with all plagues, as often as they desire. 7 When they finish their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit will make war against them, overcome them, and kill them. 8 And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. 9 Then those from the peoples, tribes, tongues, and nations will see their dead bodies three-and-a-half days, and not allow their dead bodies to be put into graves.

• I have never read anything like these events in the writings of Josephus, who recorded many details of this war.

• Did any historical writer record any of these events?

• I wonder why Josephus failed to record any of these events?

I challenge you or anyone else to show the historical writings from anyone who wrote about:

There is nothing in Revelation 11 that is even remotely connected to the events of 70 AD.

There is no historical writings by Josephus or any other historical writer that records these events.


There is something that John recorded that is important to those that love the truth and who fear God.

For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
