There is a decided difference in mankind. God has placed us in three categories…..

Jeremiah 31:27 “Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man, and with the seed of beast.

All of Israel, (the house of Israel and the house of Judah), and the seed of man, (mankind, humanity) and the beast…(the wicked) will be brought together.

Malachi 3:18 Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth Him not.

Again…three categories. Those that “return,†which are the elect, the man child that will be priests of God [Revelation 20:6], and the other two…the righteous and the wicked.

Righteous - #6662 Lawful, just, righteous man

Abraham asked….Genesis 18:23 And Abraham drew near, and said, “Wilt Thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked?

So, there is a difference in the righteous, the wicked and His elect, for His elect are already justified and will not be destroyed. [Romans 8:30] But, what of the thought that only those that believe in Christ will obtain salvation?

Psalms 69:28 Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, And not be written with the righteous

The book of the spiritually living, the book where the righteous names have been written and…those that are blotted out.

Malachi 3:16 Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon His name.

Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

The spiritually living, those that have accepted Christ are in one book. The spiritually dead, which would include the righteous…good people that never had a chance to find Him but are judged on how they lived their lives are in another book and then…there are the wicked.

Malachi 3:18 has it correct by placing all into the 2 categories of the righteous and the wicked; much the same as 1 John 3:1-10 that categorizes all as either sons of God or sons of the devil (see also John 8:31-36 and Rom.6:16-23). But to be even more specific, there are 4 categories man is placed in...the first 2 are in the wicked category and the last 2 are in the righteous category of Malachi 3:18.

Rev.22:11
He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.

I would say two categories, righteous and unrighteous

God bless.

But...Malachi 3:18 shows us there are three categories...not two. There are those that will return and discern, and they discern between the second and third, the righteous and wicked. The same with Rev. 22:11....the filthy, the righteous and the holy.
