Bible Study Hebrews: Let's talk about it

. In Christianity, we are become "Sons of God", not because after we do, we are willing to live the life, walk the walk, etc.

We are given the right to become sons of God.

12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: John 1:12

reminds me of the old spiritual,
"Children of God, we are marching to Zion, step by step, all the way..."

You are describing discipleship.
Discipleship is the "following", that happens once you become a Disciple.
The "following", has to do with the behavior, but has nothing to do with the position.
In Christianity, we are become "Sons of God", not because after we do, we are willing to live the life, walk the walk, etc.
But rather HE has recreated us within his Grace to be his blood bought own, and that free of charge, free of "discipleship", free of works, free of "law", free of anything related to the idea that we are doing something for it to ither earn it or keep it.

The wisdom of Christianity is in the understanding <> the spiritual awakening to the reality that Righteousness is not something we do, but rather its something that GOD GAVE US., based on what Jesus did for us.
There are no "If we dos" related to this free Gift from God., and that is because there is nothing we could possibly do that could equal the Life of Christ or the sacrifice of Christ.
So, we need not go there to try to "keep it".
We dont keep it, we instead are given it, and once its applied its finished, just as Jesus said from the Cross.
And subsequent to this knowledge that God himself has remade us to be an eternal part of himself, we then choose wisely when as you say we choose to live for him because of what he has DONE for us., and not because of what we are trying to earn as a means to maintain what he has already given.

Christian conduct:
ROM.13:8-10
Owe no man anything, but to love another, for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet, and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
Love worketh no ill to his neighbor, therefore love is fulfilling of the law.

Beautiful !

We are actually close to the compare and contrast issue. The levitical priesthood vs the priesthood of Melchisedec . One is dealing with the flesh (although the law is spiritual) and the other is dealing with the spirit of the mind.

Hebrews tries so hard to draw out the differences. Much as Romans 7 looks at the law (even today) and Romans. 8 that looks at the mind - (for example):
Romans 8:14
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

One is an honest assessment of the flesh, and the other is an assessment of the new man in Christ Jesus.

Hebrews 7:28
For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.

The study of the bible leads to truth. The study of mans comments sometimes leads to confusion. Hebrews is trying so hard to point out issues.

I am just a redneck jerk from Mississippi (in the flesh). The only good in me is Galatians 2:20
Two things can exist at the same time.

See, if a person can ever come to the place to realize that they cant be saved or STAY saved without the BLOOD ATONEMENT, then they will stop trying to depend on anything else.
(they will stop trying to keep themselves saved).
And when a person stops trying to depend on anything else for salvation other then the blood atonement, then they have finally understood "Grace".
And how do i know a person is depending on something OUTSIDE Christ's finished work on the Cross to become accepted by God?
Because they will argue endlessly to add works or law keeping to the Blood Atonement, and in doing so they always run to water, or the Law, or good deeds, or church membership.
You have pretty much summed up what the new founded church did.
They trusted in the work of Jesus for their salvation, received the Holy Spirit of promise, received power from on high, etc.

The problem arose when the possible falling away from that position is presented. The impossibility of that action is discussed, and the ramifications of that action are laid out. Hebrews 6

Where were they tempted to go? You pretty much defined it.

I would stress the blood atonement of Christ. There were all sorts of blood symbols in the law.
