Re: -How Does God Desire The Keeping Of HIS &th Day Sammath-

Rev 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

This is a clear reference to obeying what He commands as we see from the garden.

Adam did not obey His command to not partake of the tree...

Jesus said - why do you call me Lord, and not do what I say.

I find this prevalent among those who insist on keeping the law of Moses, which makes no provision for relationship with God, but only external rules to follow.

Abraham walked in His Presence.

Abraham obeyed His Voice.

Abraham obeyed His commands, from a living relationship.

Nobody who walks with God has any desire to kill murder, steal or lie...

The ten commandments are God's law that should be obeyed, but were designed for stiff necked, stubborn, lawless people who have to be reminded of what is good and what is evil.

knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,1 Timothy 1:9

The unfortunate and sad truth is, that most "law keepers' have no desire to walk with God and to hear His Voice, and to do what He commands.

They validate and measure their salvation by doing the external fleshly requirements of an obsolete law, and spend their time condemning others who "measure up" to their standard.

14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. 15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. John 14:14

For man shall not live by bread alone but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.

Jesus made a clear distinction between Moses writings and His Words -

46 For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me. 47 But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?" John 5:46-47

Who's speaking at Mt. Sinai? Why that was Jesus Christ prior to His human birth. So, the Commandments that Christ, Himself, spoke on Mt. Sinai were really a mistake and He changed His mind? He decided to do away with them and give new ones? Are you sure He has not changed His mind again and now given something different in the last 100 years? This christ seems pretty changeable, whereas the REAL Jesus Christ says...

Mal 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Now as far as the Law of Moses...

Exo 24:3 And Moses came and told the people all the words of the LORD, and all the judgments: and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which the LORD hath said will we do.

Whose Law? The LORD's.

Lev 23:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Lev 23:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.
Lev 23:3 Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.
Lev 23:4 These are the feasts of the LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons.

Whose? The LORD's and who was doing this speaking? Why, it was the same one who became Jesus Christ.

Hmmm, Are you saying that Moses made this all up? Or is the Book of the Law the word of God?

Rom 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

Now what scriptures were written aforetime?

Rom 16:26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:

Now if you want to argue that this is just about the prophets...

Deu 18:15 The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;

It refers to Moses also.

2Ti 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

What scriptures did Timothy know from childhood that were able to make him wise unto salvation? The New Testament was written in the 50's to 60's throughaobut 96 AD. A little past the childhood of Timothy.

2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

I'm assuming the translation you use says something like this...

2Ti 3:16 Some scripture is given by inspiration of God, but not the Old Testament, and some of it is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: but nothing written prior to about 50 AD.

Re: -How Does God Desire The Keeping Of HIS &th Day Sammath-

2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

The fact that you quoted this scripture shows that you didn't "see" what I wrote.

Again, please consider what Jesus Christ Himself said as he distinguished between Moses writings and His Words.

46 For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me. 47 But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?" John 5:46-47

Can you see the distinction between Moses writings and His words.

As it is spoken of Isaiah by the prophet -

1 "Behold! My Servant whom I uphold, My Elect One in whom My soul delights! I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice to the Gentiles. 2 He will not cry out, nor raise His voice, Nor cause His voice to be heard in the street. 3 A bruised reed He will not break, And smoking flax He will not quench; He will bring forth justice for truth. 4 He will not fail nor be discouraged, Till He has established justice in the earth; And the coastlands shall wait for His law." 5 Thus says God the Lord, Who created the heavens and stretched them out, Who spread forth the earth and that which comes from it, Who gives breath to the people on it, And spirit to those who walk on it: 6 "I, the Lord, have called You in righteousness, And will hold Your hand; I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people, As a light to the Gentiles, Isaiah 42:1-6

Isaiah spoke of His Law while under the law of Moses, and the scripture can not be broken.

By saying His Law, the Holy Spirit is indicating the New Covenant will be establish by a different law than the writings of Moses.

... For the priesthood being changed, of necessity there is also a change of the law

Re: -How Does God Desire The Keeping Of HIS &th Day Sammath-

So Numbers 15:27-35 is a done deal, when one is openly a sinner. (but just love him)

Numbers 15
[27] And if any soul sin through ignorance, then he shall bring a she goat of the first year for a sin offering.
[28] And the priest shall make an atonement for the soul that sinneth ignorantly, when he sinneth by ignorance before the LORD, to make an atonement for him; and it shall be forgiven him.
[29] Ye shall have one law for him that sinneth through ignorance, both for him that is born among the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them.
[30] But the soul that doeth ought presumptuously, whether he be born in the land, or a stranger, the same reproacheth the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

[31] Because he hath despised the word of the LORD, and hath broken his commandment, that soul shall utterly be cut off; [[his iniquity shall be upon him]].
[32] And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day.
[33] And they that found him gathering sticks brought him unto Moses and Aaron, and unto all the congregation.
[34] And they put him in ward, because it was not declared what should be done to him.
[35] And the [[LORD said unto Moses, The man shall be surely put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp.]]

And this is the same Christ God as seen in Acts 7:38. [With Love] But who does He love? Check Lev. 16:8-26

[8] And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the LORD, and the other lot for the scapegoat.
[9] And Aaron shall bring the goat upon which the LORD's lot fell, and offer him for a sin offering.
[10] But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness.
[11] And Aaron shall bring the bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and shall make an atonement for himself, and for his house, and shall kill the bullock of the sin offering which is for himself:
[12] And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before the LORD, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the vail:
[13] And he shall put the incense upon the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is upon the testimony, that he die not:
[14] And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times.
[15] Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the vail, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat:
[16] And he shall make an atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions in all their sins: and so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation, that remaineth among them in the midst of their uncleanness.

It kind of reminds me of a James 1:15 fatal sin! Lets just say that the 'sinner' came to offer the Lamb at the court and then told the Lord that this is good enough (Rom. 8:1) for this is all that is required! [FINISHED] No more need of a verse 14 Lord!

--Elijah
Not keeping a literal Sabbath is not a damnable offense anymore that this should apply in some way.

We do not maintain covenant with God anymore through the Mosaic covenant's worship stipulations. We are now in covenant with God through the NEW Covenant, Jesus Christ. That being true, there is no more need for the worship procedures, and the timetables to perform them in, to maintain covenant with God.

Christ's work on the cross forever and perfectly does what the ceremonial stipulations sought to do but could not do for fallen man. That being true, they have been laid aside as unneeded and obsolete for those who have been brought near to God through the new way of faith in Jesus Christ.

A useful analogy is not having to use grandpa's '55 Buick to go to work anymore because you have a 2013 Chevy to do that for you now. It's not that grandpa's Buick has been destroyed and abolished. It's just not needed anymore. You have a better way to do what the old way used to do for you. Now it sits obsolete and unneeded next to the hen house and makes for interesting discussion about the way things used to be.

I do have to disagree here. Does murdering separate one from God? Idolatry? How about habitual liars? Are they welcomed into the Kingdom?
No, of course they are not welcome in the kingdom. These are not worship laws connected with the old covenant of temple, priest, and animal/grain sacrifices.

When the old covenant of temple, priesthood, and sacrifice was made obsolete, so were the worship laws connected with that system, that way of relating to God. Faith in Christ represents a better covenant of Temple, Priest, and Sacrifice that made the old covenant of temple, priest, and sacrifice obsolete and no longer needed. And in the wisdom of God the New fulfills the old, not abolishes it. And why not, since the old was the shadow and pre-figure of the New.

Either you didn't "see" what I wrote or you can't "see" what I wrote.

Actually, I did see what you wrote, it is just that what you wrote is not substantiated by scripture...

Deu 5:29 O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!

Psa 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
Psa 19:8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
Psa 19:9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
Psa 19:10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Psa 19:11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
Psa 19:12 Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.
Psa 19:13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.
Psa 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

Lev 26:3 If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them;
Lev 26:4 Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.
Lev 26:5 And your threshing shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto the sowing time: and ye shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely.
Lev 26:6 And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid: and I will rid evil beasts out of the land, neither shall the sword go through your land.
Lev 26:7 And ye shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword.
Lev 26:8 And five of you shall chase an hundred, and an hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight: and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.
Lev 26:9 For I will have respect unto you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and establish my covenant with you.
Lev 26:10 And ye shall eat old store, and bring forth the old because of the new.
Lev 26:11 And I will set my tabernacle among you: and my soul shall not abhor you.
Lev 26:12 And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my people.
Lev 26:13 I am the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you go upright.

Deu 28:1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
Deu 28:2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.
Deu 28:3 Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.
Deu 28:4 Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
Deu 28:5 Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store.
Deu 28:6 Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
Deu 28:7 The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.
Deu 28:8 The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
Deu 28:9 The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways.
Deu 28:10 And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee.
Deu 28:11 And the LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
Deu 28:12 The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.
Deu 28:13 And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:
Deu 28:14 And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

Sounds to me like if people would obey God, they would not be able to outrun the blessings...

Deu 28:2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.

Did you notice that Moses wrote about Christ? That it was Christ who dictated to Moses the Law? That the Law was about Christ? Where do you think Moses got the Law he wrote?

Since this thread is about the Sabbath, Who gave the Sabbath and who's is it?

Gen 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
Gen 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
Gen 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Now Moses was 2500 years in the future when the Sabbath was created. This is the creation of the Sabbath...

Exo 20:1 And God spake all these words, saying,

Notice who is speaking here? Moses? No, God!

Exo 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Why remember something that is brand new?

Exo 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

Exo 20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

Which day is the Lord's (Jesus Christ was speaking here).

Exo 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Here He plainly refers the creation week and that the Sabbath was the seventh day of creation week. The very day that He blessed and made holy.

Isaiah spoke of His Law while under the law of Moses, and the scripture can not be broken.

By saying His Law, the Holy Spirit is indicating the New Covenant will be establish by a different law than the writings of Moses.

... For the priesthood being changed, of necessity there is also a change of the law

JLB

You are reading something into the New Covenant that just is not there...

Isa 42:4 He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.

law:

H8451
תּרה תּורה
tôrâh tôrâh
to-raw', to-raw'
From H3384; a precept or statute, especially the Decalogue or Pentateuch: - law.

The Torah. He is speaking of the Torah here.

And as far as the change in the law, that is the law concerning the priesthood. All you must do is read the context...

Heb 7:9 And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham.
Heb 7:10 For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him.
Heb 7:11 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?
Heb 7:12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.
Heb 7:13 For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar.
Heb 7:14 For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.

What had to be changed? The law concerning who can be a priest...

Num 18:1 And the LORD said unto Aaron, Thou and thy sons and thy father's house with thee shall bear the iniquity of the sanctuary: and thou and thy sons with thee shall bear the iniquity of your priesthood.
Num 18:2 And thy brethren also of the tribe of Levi, the tribe of thy father, bring thou with thee, that they may be joined unto thee, and minister unto thee: but thou and thy sons with thee shall minister before the tabernacle of witness.
Num 18:3 And they shall keep thy charge, and the charge of all the tabernacle: only they shall not come nigh the vessels of the sanctuary and the altar, that neither they, nor ye also, die.
Num 18:4 And they shall be joined unto thee, and keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, for all the service of the tabernacle: and a stranger shall not come nigh unto you.
Num 18:5 And ye shall keep the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the altar: that there be no wrath any more upon the children of Israel.
Num 18:6 And I, behold, I have taken your brethren the Levites from among the children of Israel: to you they are given as a gift for the LORD, to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.
Num 18:7 Therefore thou and thy sons with thee shall keep your priest's office for every thing of the altar, and within the vail; and ye shall serve: I have given your priest's office unto you as a service of gift: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

This is why the law had to be changed (which you are reading as the entire O.T. was done away). The law plainly states that Priests can only come from the tribe of Levi and must be, by DNA, the sons of Aaron. It is evident that our Lord sprang from the tribe of Judah of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning Priesthood. Since Christ will NOT VIOLATE His Law, He (and only He, no matter how much you wish to) had the authority to change it.

The Ten Commandments were not ceremonial Laws concerning the Priesthood and the Tabernacle/Temple worship service. They are the Laws that determine right from wrong, that define righteousness and sin.

Jethro, I see this and understand that the ceremonial Laws CANNOT be applied as they were written. They were written for a physical Priesthood that was by DNA limited to a tribe and a family. In this discussion though, we are talking about the Sabbath, which predates the ceremonial Laws of some of Exodus and some of Leviticus by 2500 years. The Sabbath was created and put into effect at creation week...

Exo 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Exo 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

This He did at creation week, not at Sinai.

Re: -How Does God Desire The Keeping Of HIS &th Day Sammath-

Lev 26:3 If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them;
Lev 26:4 Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.

You can post 2 paragraphs or 10 paragraphs.

It won't change the simple truth that Jesus gave us, which is validated by the prophecy of Isaiah, as well as the writer of the book of Hebrews.

Without faith, it is impossible to please God, for the law is not of faith.

So, you can focus your life on keeping the law of Moses, if that is what you consider to be required, as Paul teaches us, Let each be fully convinced in his own mind.

The law of Moses, or His Law?

Re: -How Does God Desire The Keeping Of HIS &th Day Sammath-

There are some who are blind here and some who are not.

Only time will tell in each one's life where they will end up.

I for one believe and know that the Ten Commandments are God's divine Law for mankind to live by, and I will do just that, there is not a single human being in this world that can cause me to change my mind about it. And I have no interest and trying to convince anyone else about keeping them. To each his own, as in the days of the judges.

Anyone separating and dividing the Ten Commandments only deceives themselves. Those here who abide in all ten of them know that and will not change their convictions.

I am more than glad to be guilty of this statement.

There will be no retraction.

In other words, don't confuse me with facts, my mind is made up? what I have shown with an abundance of scripture is that the Law of Moses is the Law of God. It was given to Moses by God and was recorded as the Law of God and referred to in the New Testament as the scriptures that make one wise unto salvation. OK, I'm done here. There is ignorance and willing ignorance and they are two different things.

John 14:14

This still does not clarify how to keep the Sabbath.
Everyone wants to say we need to keep it, but no one says how we are to do that.
Those who insist we need to keep the Sabbath, I want an answer.
I want you to tell me just how you keep the Sabbath.

Allenwynne drop on down to the bottom of the post for how God desires His 7 Day Sabbath to be kept.

___________

He does not leave out what He has given us who LOVE him to do!! Do we LOVE CHRIST accurately, nothing held back? This is the last question!

We can read Isa. 58...
[10] And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noonday:
[11] And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

[12] And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.

[13] If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:

[14] Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

And this will be our LOVING duties in our heavenly home. Still we will be doing the work of building our country home. (read Isa. 65:18-26) And on His 7th Day Sabbath we will travel to Jerusalem to Worship our Lord! (IN NEW Jerusalem. Isa. 66:22-23! ...and there is the sunset to MARK our Days!)
OK: Back to Isa. 58 with INSTRUCTIONS!
!x-usc:cid:19F7723D675146FAADECA4721C5B9FAF@NBHammondPC

[12] And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.

We see in Daniel 7:25 why this is so. Dan. says...
[25] And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

So we see what the Lord requires. The Remnant to do this duty from an honest heart filled with love! And this is the work that is to be seen...
[13] If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:

Christ was was said to be a breaker of His Eternal law when He and His disciples went through a corn field and had gotten enough food for that 7th Sabbath Day. And Isa. 58? (Has Isaiah saying, that is ok! as a True Prophet of God.. 1 Cor. 14:32) See **Lev. 19:10 !

And next...
‘from doing thine own pleasure’. OK. Here we find all things that are not Godly things to do are to be [put] aside! Inclusive? ball games and the like, news papers reading. Anything that can be done on the other six days are to be put aside.
And the ox in the ditch? Surely is in need of help!
Along with the sick & afflicted.

And surely all who love the Master will be known then!

Do you cook?
Do you keep to your rules every Sabbath?

Re: -How Does God Desire The Keeping Of HIS &th Day Sammath-

Actually, I did see what you wrote, it is just that what you wrote is not substantiated by scripture...

knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,1 Timothy 1:9

This scripture substantiates exactly what I said.

Did you notice that Moses wrote about Christ? That it was Christ who dictated to Moses the Law? That the Law was about Christ? Where do you think Moses got the Law he wrote?

19 What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator.

Did you notice that Christ added the Law to the Covenant that He made with Abraham.

Did you notice that the Law was added UNTIL the seed should come.

Did you notice the word UNTIL. The word UNTIL denotes that the Law was TEMPORARY.

Did you notice the word ADDED. Added means the Law was a PART of something else.

That is why The Lord who added the Law, spoke these words out of the mouth of Isaiah -

4 He will not fail nor be discouraged, Till He has established justice in the earth; And the coastlands shall wait for His law."

The law of Christ, as he taught us in Matthew 5:21-23

21 "You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not murder, and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.'

Moses Law!

22 But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, 'Raca!' shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, 'You fool!' shall be in danger of hell fire.

The law of Christ!

And what did Christ command?

Exo 20:1 And God spake all these words, saying,
Exo 20:2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

This was the One who became Jesus Christ speaking here, and then He goes on to give the Ten Commandments.

Adam did not obey His command to not partake of the tree...

Adam and Eve did not obey the Commands of God, they chose to believe Satan and take to themselves the prerogative of determining right and wrong. You know, the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.

Jesus said - why do you call me Lord, and not do what I say.

Interesting you should quote that, I find that very much to be true…

Mat 19:16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
Mat 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

And you know that He is speaking of the Ten Commandments by the verses that follow.

I find this prevalent among those who insist on keeping the law of Moses, which makes no provision for relationship with God, but only external rules to follow.

It is very important to label the Law the Law of Moses, because if you recognize the fact that it is the Law of God, it makes it difficult to speak against it, but…

Exo 24:3 And Moses came and told the people all the words of the LORD, and all the judgments: and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which the LORD hath said will we do.
Exo 24:4 And Moses wrote all the words of the LORD, and rose up early in the morning, and builded an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.

Etc.

The comment that you made about making no provision for a relationship with God is an interesting statement. God knows what is right and wrong. He desparately wants the best for His children…

Deu 5:29 O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!

And His Laws produce the best for His children…

Now David is promised to be king over all of Israel in the resurrection, so he might actually have walked with God…

Act 13:22 And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.

And how did he feel about God’s Law?

Psa 119:1 ALEPH. Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD.
Psa 119:2 Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.
Psa 119:3 They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.
Psa 119:4 Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.
Psa 119:5 O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!

Psa 119:9 BETH. Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.
Psa 119:10 With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.
Psa 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Psa 119:12 Blessed art thou, O LORD: teach me thy statutes.

I could post the whole Psalm here but rather, why don’t you read it for yourself?

Abraham walked in His Presence.

Abraham obeyed His Voice.

Abraham obeyed His commands, from a living relationship.
Yes he did…

Gen 26:5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

This is the Same Lord who spoke the Ten Commandments from Mt. Sinai, who spoke all the Law to Moses, the Word who became Jesus Christ and inspired Paul to write…

Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Nobody who walks with God has any desire to kill murder, steal or lie...

Really? Wonder why Peter warned us of this?

1Pe 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
1Pe 2:10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
1Pe 2:11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

Hmmm, nobody who walks with God would desire to sin?

Jas 4:5 Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?

1Jn 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

Rom 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
Rom 7:15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
Rom 7:16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.
Rom 7:17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
Rom 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
Rom 7:19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
Rom 7:20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
Rom 7:21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
Rom 7:22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:

If what you say is truly the case, you better let Peter, James, John and Paul in on the secret. They seem to be ignorant of it.

The ten commandments are God's law that should be obeyed, but were designed for stiff necked, stubborn, lawless people who have to be reminded of what is good and what is evil.

Would you please show me a scripture that says the Law is made for stiff necked, stubborn, lawless people?
As far as teaching what is good and evil, that is exactly the intent of the Law…

Rom 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,1 Timothy 1:9

The unfortunate and sad truth is, that most "law keepers' have no desire to walk with God and to hear His Voice, and to do what He commands.

Interesting, very interesting. First of all, quote all of it…

1Ti 1:5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

The word end here is…

G5056
τέλος
telos
tel'-os
From a primary word τέλλω tellō (to set out for a definite point or goal); properly the point aimed at as a limit, that is, (by implication) the conclusion of an act or state (termination [literally, figuratively or indefinitely], result [immediate, ultimate or prophetic], purpose); specifically an impost or levy (as paid): - + continual, custom, end (-ing), finally, uttermost. Compare G5411.

Same exact word used exactly the same way here…

Rom 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

And here…

1Pe 1:9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

Means the end result, the product.

1Ti 1:6 From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;
1Ti 1:7 Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.
1Ti 1:8 But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;

The Law is what? Good? Yes!

1Ti 1:9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
1Ti 1:10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;

The Law is made to define what is sin, what is evil and exact a penalty for it, where as a righteous man is not subject to the condemnation of the Law because he has not transgressed it.

They validate and measure their salvation by doing the external fleshly requirements of an obsolete law, and spend their time condemning others who "measure up" to their standard.

I will thank you to not judge my motives here. Salvation is the free gift of God and God will judge, not me.

Jesus made a clear distinction between Moses writings? Who do you think told Moses to write what he wrote?

Exo_16:11 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Exo_25:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

It might be quite instructional here for you to look at the words Lord spake in a concordance and see what Moses wrote and who actually spoke the words.

Hmmm,

Luk 1:6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.
Luk 2:22 And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord;
Luk 2:23 (As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;)

Who’s word is the Law of Moses? Luke says right here it is the Law of the Lord.

4 He will not fail nor be discouraged, Till He has established justice in the earth; And the coastlands shall wait for His law."

The law of Christ, as he taught us in Matthew 5:21-23

You forgot to quote the verses prior to…

Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Mat 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

I also noticed that you have no idea what Law was added…

Deu 5:22 These words the LORD spake unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me.

Now God’s intent was that people obey His Ten Commandments. Problem is most don’t. so what was added?

Jer 7:22 For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices:
Jer 7:23 But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.
Jer 7:24 But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward.

Why wouldn’t they hearken?

Heb 3:10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.

Why did they err in their heart?

Deu 5:29 O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!

They were not given the Holy Spirit to enable them to obey…

Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:
Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

Here God plainly says that He would do away with the Law? NO! Plainly says He will write His Laws in our hearts and minds. This is the New Covenant…

Heb 8:7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
Heb 8:8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
Heb 8:9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
Heb 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
Heb 8:11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

The fault was not with the Covenant nor was it with the Law, it was with the people…

Heb 8:8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

Help me out here and help me to understand how the Law was added because of sin. That makes absolutely no sense. First of all, if the Law was not in force, there was no sin…

Rom 4:15 Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.

Rom 5:13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

Now when is sin imputed? When there is Law…

1Jn 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

So, let me get this right, you say there was first a covenant but there was sin. Since there was sin Law was added. But what we just read was that there is no sin when there is no Law. So there was no sin but you said the Law was added because of sin. Hmmm, very confusing.

What was added was the Law of sacrifices for sin. Why was it added?

Gal 3:19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
Gal 3:20 Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.
Gal 3:21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.
Gal 3:22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
Gal 3:23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
Gal 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
Gal 3:25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

It was added as a bloody reminder that sin requires blood (the life is in the blood) and the wages of sin is death. Now here is the Law that was added…

Heb 10:1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
Heb 10:2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
Heb 10:3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
Heb 10:4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
Heb 10:5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
Heb 10:6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
Heb 10:7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.
Heb 10:8 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;
Heb 10:9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.
Heb 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
Heb 10:11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
Heb 10:12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
Heb 10:13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
Heb 10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
Heb 10:15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,
Heb 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
Heb 10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
Heb 10:18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
Heb 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
Heb 10:20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
Heb 10:21 And having an high priest over the house of God;
Heb 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
Heb 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
Heb 10:24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:

Understanding Law and Grace takes much more study that reading one liners. Much of the book of Hebrews is dedicated to the subject of sacrifices and the Priesthood. It must be read in context and then plainly shows that the Law of the Priesthood and the Law of Sacrifices was changed by Christ. Not done away, the word change does not mean cease to exist. What the book shows is a different, spiritual application of the Laws.

JLB

Hmmm, Christ came to give the spiritual application of the Law. He takes the Law and ADDS to it the spiritual understanding. He is fulfilling this…

Isa 42:21 The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable.

Magnify:

H1431
גּדל
gâdal
gaw-dal'
A primitive root; properly to twist (compare H1434), that is, to be (causatively make) large (in various senses, as in body, mind, estate or honor, also in pride): - advance, boast, bring up, exceed, excellent, be (-come, do, give, make, wax), great (-er, come to . . estate, + things), grow (up), increase, lift up, magnify (-ifical), be much set by, nourish (up), pass, promote, proudly [spoken], tower.

Honourable:

H142
אדר
'âdar
aw-dar
A primitive root; to expand, that is, be great or (figuratively) magnificent: - (become) glorious, honourable.

Christ came to magnify, to make large, to advance, to promote the Law and make it magnificent, glorious.

Re: -How Does God Desire The Keeping Of HIS &th Day Sammath-

I also noticed that you have no idea what Law was added…

17 And this I say, that the law, which was four hundred and thirty years later, cannot annul the covenant that was confirmed before by God in Christ, that it should make the promise of no effect. 18 For if the inheritance is of the law, it is no longer of promise; but God gave it to Abraham by promise. 19 What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator. Galatians 3:17-19

The Law of Moses was added to the Covenant The Lord made with Abraham.

No amount of twisting of God's word will change that fact.

The Law of Moses has vanished away, what remains in God's Law that Abraham walked in and obeyed.

The Ten Commandments reflect a portion of God's Law that we need heed and obey.

However, the ten commandments are not all that the Lord requires.

You keeping that pesky fourth one are you?

However, the ten commandments are not all that the Lord requires.

Ya think?

Hmmm, the Law of Moses is vanished away, huh?

1Co 9:6 Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power to forbear working?
1Co 9:7 Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?
1Co 9:8 Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also?

Now why in the world is he asking this question to a gentile church in Corinth?

1Co 9:9 For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen?

Written in what Law? The Law of Moses.

1Co 9:10 Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.

Oh my, here is Paul saying that the Law of Moses is written for our sakes no doubt. The Law of Moses was simply what Moses recorded of what God said.

You keeping that pesky fourth one are you?

No. I rest on Saturday.

But I don't assume that is all that is required from God.

I am more interested in, "You shall have no other gods before Me".

There is no telling how many ways that I am blind to what that means, the way He intended it.

I know I am desperate for My Savior, every moment of every hour, of every day.

I don't let Him forget it, either.

The Sabbath is the least of my concern.

Loving people, the way He intended, is more on the top of my priority list.

Keeping all ten of the Commandments is my priority...

1Jn 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
1Jn 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

God does not leave the definition of love cloudy and vague neither does He leave it up to us to define how to love Him (the first four) and how to love our neighbor (the last six). Deciding how to love Him and our neighbor on our own was tried once a long time ago...

Gen 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Gen 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
Gen 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

How'd that work out for them and us?
