For me...It started with the desire to live in complete obedience to God, but not knowing how.
God brought me into contact with a church where they didn't commit sin, and they showed me all I needed to know to follow suit.
Repentance from sin can and should be permanent.
Baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of past sins, at the same time accomplishing my immersion into Christ and into his death, burial, and resurrection. My "being raised with Christ to walk in newness of life" provided my rebirth.
My water baptism into Christ's sufferings allowed my contact with His sanctifying blood.
Reception of the gift of the Holy Ghost, (accompanied by a sound from heaven and a vision).
The gift of tongues.
Growth in grace and knowledge followed, but daily prayer time set aside for Him helped foster good habits. Like avoiding the places that served only my now dead "flesh".
And carrying my bible nearly everywhere, especially when I went to fast food places for breakfast, lunch, or supper.
Avoiding the people who only wished my failure.
Distancing myself from the things that would have resulted in my eventual destruction, like cigarettes, pot, cocaine, acid, peyote, mescaline, booze, porn, dirty movies and books, etc.
I learned that the things of the flesh cannot reside by those that walk in the Spirit.
And reading!
Oh how I love the scriptures!
I make time to read at least three times a day nearly every day.
It has all resulted in almost thirteen years without sin, to the glory of God.

I am sure I have omitted some things from my "how to" list, so I will be happy to answer any questions my post may generate.

Your desire is right, but also shows naivety. As you will not, lie all those who believe as you do, that 1 john1 8+9 somehow splits and talks to two groups.
John is talking to Christians telling them that Christians recieve themselves if they say they do not sin.

We always need our saviour, we can never boast about being sinless for that is neve true.

Romans 7:21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
Romans 7:22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
Romans 7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
Romans 7:24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
Romans 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

There is a difference between the inner man that is Spiritually renewed, but yet the outside is still flesh where sin dwells. Sanctification flows from justification. It's an on-going process which will not be complete or reach perfection in this life as the process is God's workmanship that is created in Christ unto good works.

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

James 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
James 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

Gal 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. thank you

very inspiring

so would you say focusing on what God said about you and keeping grateful fellowship with Him and His word are what continues to keep you strong in Him and His deep and amazing work in your life?

and avoiding fleshly activities and places keep you out of the path of temptation?

walking in the presence of God for sure is the only way to walk pure

walking in one's own understanding is a fleshly endeavor

i find when i spend many hours in prayer and in God's word and asking Him what He has to say to me today it keeps me in Him and doing what pleases Him

when i hang around negative combative unkind people who say hurtful things to others they disagree with it only opens a door to enter the flesh as these negative ones are in the flesh

i find that once i realize someone is unkind and unfriendly if i no longer open myself to what they have to say i can stay in peace and love and leave them and their unkindness to God

thank you for sharing your testimony

you are a blessing

cool

thank you for listing all the things they taught you to do to follow suit

there is a lot there

if you feel to expound on anything that would be cool but the list you gave makes perfect sense

walking that kind of a life empowers Godliness and demolishes sinfulness

i guess until someone actually puts it into practice as you did they will never know how powerful the points you made are

i can confirm that the type of lifestyle you described is effective in walking in holiness and not indulging sin otherwise this would never have been said 1 Corinthians 15:34

Sorry WIP, but that statement seems to be rather shallow for me. It makes it sound like the only reason you look to Jesus is because of your sin.
The Pharisees were proud of how well they kept the law but what did Jesus say to them?

Now it happened, as He was dining in Levi’s house, that many tax collectors and sinners also sat together with Jesus and His disciples; for there were many, and they followed Him. And when the scribes and Pharisees saw Him eating with the tax collectors and sinners, they said to His disciples, “How is it that He eats and drinks with tax collectors and sinners?” When Jesus heard it, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”
Mark 2:15-17 NKJV

Jesus also shared this parable.

Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’ And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
Luke 18:9-14 NKJV

Please note. I'm not claiming that Hopeful is lying or boasting. Just giving fair warning as Paul did here.

For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.
Romans 12:3 NKJV

Because John also warns us here.

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.'
1 John 1:8 NKJV

Me either.
I think it's much worse.
I think he has allowed an evil teaching to enter his thinking, and evil spirit perhaps from Satan for he continually resists the truth of Gods word and the Spirit of God, and he is affecting others thinking to follow and agree with His evil and this should be stopped and not be allowed to continue before others who follow behind the scenes start believing His abomination of teaching. He twists God's word and so far no one does nothing.
The ADMINISTRATORS here must discuss this and "DO SOMETHING."
His words are an "OUTRAGE" in the face of GOD!!!

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.'
1 John 1:8 NKJV

just a question

of all the Godly lifestyle choices posted in the op what do you find evil?

walking without sin?

are you walking in sin?

if you do the things pointed to in the op do you think they would help you stop sinning as told in 1 Corinthians 15:34 - John 5:14 - 1 John 3:6 - why would there be repeated commands to stop sinning if it was impossible?

should people not be living the lifestyle posted in the op? - how could a person continue sinning if they did so?

YOU ARE BEING LED ASTRAY and you will pay the price dearly as Hopeful will also.
His words are of the devil and have no place on this forum.

God help anyone who accepts his teachings, or anyone who refuses to do anything to stop him.
i think you are misunderstanding what the op is about and also what i posted

think about each point in the op - are they not powerful keys to walking in the Spirit rather than the flesh?

should people not be pursuing walking in the Spirit so they DON'T walk in the flesh?

God help anyone who accepts his teachings, or anyone who refuses to do anything to stop him.
maybe try the lifestyle posted in the op and see how dramatically your life will change for the better

this is the foolishness of theology - people fight over words and totally miss what the other guy is really saying

if you use the points listed in the op to change your lifestyle you will find an increased Godliness fills your life

then you will find out how foolish theology is and how powerful is simply obeying God's word and seeking His grace on doing so

God bless you

i wish the best for you as you walk closely and deeply with God Who loves you and created you for His glory

Truthfrees my brother.
There is a way to present the truth, and it's not being done here.
These posts are truth mixed with HERESY which deceives the reader.

I'm not here to get in a war of "VERSE BOMBING".
For me the topic is irrelevant.
What I'm taking issue with is the Twisting of verses and his resisting God's truth, presented to him over and over by several members here that he refuses to address or accept.

We as "MONITORS" have a responsibility not only to the members here, but also to those who come here and BROWS undercover to learn or experience Gods words of "TRUTH."

There are some followers of Christ who have been called and set aside to be APOLOGISTS, defenders and contenders for the truth, and this must be addressed by the leadership here.

I have reported this to the ADMINISTRATORS and it's in their hands now!!!

It's out of my hands and I am done with this.

God bless you, my brother

what about all that i said to you in my 3 posts to you?

did i not speak straight pure truth?

i understand what the op is saying - it works like he says it works if you try it

just try the lifestyle and perhaps what the op means will become not so twisted after all?

if you are alarmed about walking without sin see one of my posts to you

i asked some questions - i am interested in what your answers would be

i believe scripture should be used to walk closely and deeply with God in a way that pleases Him

i am so disappointed by all the foolish fights and personal attacks slung at people that happens when people go all theological mode instead of practical application mode

let's walk by God's word rather than theorize and fight about it

God bless you with a richness in His goodness and grace for all your needs

let's walk by God's word rather than theorize and fight about it
Truthfrees my dear brother.
I hear a soft gentle spirit in you - Praise God !!!.

There are no opposing idea's presented in anger or being argumentative or Theorizing by me or any of the members who disagree with hopeful.
Scripture is very clear how to approach a brother in love, and if you read my posts, I have done that because of my love for him, not just because I'm supposed to.
I am deeply concerned for this road he is going down and for his salvation. He has chosen a dangerous belief that could bring destruction to him, and bring you destruction too, as you seem to be buying into the "HERESY" he is presenting as truth.

Truthfrees, God bless you, and may your walk with Him continue in the"LIGHT."
