How Much different?

that's up to Yhvh - like the 3 men thrown in the furnace, I depend on the Creator for my care. If I'm thrown in a furnace, I might or might not smoke. Yhvh decides.

Do you smoke cigarettes?
.

Probably a desperate attempt at making his thread more interesting. Sex sells.
Where did you all get this whole idea from? I didnt equate anything to anything.

Some will tell you cigarette smoking is just okay but cannabis is quite bad...

Are the both not horrible to the body a sin?
Is sex less sinful than mild one and porn...

Balls are played on the pitch not off the pitch. I think we have (You and Ob.) have taken it off the pitch

What's the real question here, brother? I smoke cigarettes and was a huge pothead for many years until I gave it up. What would you like to know?
Wanting to know how different a person who does cigarette smoking is from another that does the so-called higher ones

YOU are the one who brought it up, not us. Out of all the comparisons you could have used, YOU are the one who said:
This is similar to asking someone to commit minor fornication. Fornication is fornication.

Ok, this is what I believe Classik is saying:

"Whether you smoke a little or a lot, cigarettes are still dangerous."

"Whether you fornicate a little or a lot, fornication is still fornication."

He used "fornication" the way many of us use the term "pregnant". There's no such thing as being a little pregnant, you either are or you're not.

His message is this:

"There is no safe way to smoke a cigarette."

We have to remember that english is not his first language.

Yes WIP. And my position on this is complex, requires a lot of study off both the scriptures and customs coupled with, "What did they know and when did they know it." Things that God knows. There is, of course, only one unforgivable sin that condemns a man but many folks know and have known that make the number two sin Homosexuality and the scale slides from there.

Growing up, dad wholesaled Cigars, Cigarettes, Pipe Tobacco, Snuff and Chewing Tobacco and there is no way I was sinning until I understood that I was pouring smoky poison into my body. At that point I stopped dipping, chewing, cigars and tossed my pipes. It took three more years for me to end the struggle with the cigs and although I come down on no one for smoking, god had convicted me that I was found in sin because of the damage I was, intentionally inflicting on the temple of God.

As I said, complex until I fully surrendered to God.
Great testimony

You get behind the wheel of a car and you are drunk or you are high....not a good thing. Not only can you kill someone you could get a DUI.

I'm not a cigarette smoker so my thoughts may not be very intelligent but one difference I see between smoking cigarettes verses smoking controlled substances (drugs) is that the high from cigarette smoking doesn't seem to impair one's judgment like the drugs and alcohol can.

One thought that comes to my mind is with alcohol one drink doesn't make one drunk to the point of impairing judgment or affecting one's health. That is, in most cases although there are those that are impaired by one drink. At least three close friends of mine are recovering alcoholics and have been for at least 25 years but all them have told me that if they were to indulge in just one drink they would not be able to stop at just one. In fact, it is even Biblical to have some alcohol. In 1st Timothy, didn't Paul recommend this to Timothy?

Anyway, does smoking one cigarette impair one's judgment or cause a serious health threat? A habitual smoker does potentially endanger his/her health but what about the occasional smoker that may have a single cigarette or two once in a while?

Sugar is not dangerous on occasion and in fact can be healthy in some situations however in excessive quantities poses a serious health risk. Salt is needed for us to survive yet consumed in excessive quantities can be dangerous. We need oxygen to breath in order to survive but too much can be dangerous and even toxic. We are composed of about 2/3 water and we cannot live very long without it but too much can also be deadly.

So, considering the potential harmful side effects of these, one might conclude therefore that the use of sugar, salt, air, or water could be sinful. And what about 2nd hand smoke? If a non-smoker allows himself to be in the company of smokers, would that be sinful? Then let's take it a step further and consider the profession of firefighting....

And what specifically is your stance? Bad or good?
