I was banned from this forum:
knittinghelp.com for talking about Christianity.

Sorry. The administrator has banned your IP address.

I tried to get them to tell me what I said that was so deserving of being banned, they never answered.
I talked a lot in the off topic discussions, about politics and comparing paganism against Christianity.

I woke up this morning, and I can't believe how hot it was!
It's a smothering hot, like you can't catch your breath, even in the shade.
Oppressive. I can feel my blood pressure rise after walking across the parking lot.
The UV index is extreme. Very dangerous. Everyone in the neighborhood,
over the age of 20 is staying indoors all day.
Even hubby, who works in this heat, said it was unusually hot and difficult to
move around.
93 in the shade. That means around 125 in the sun.
Pray for cooler temperatures, and rain.

Tried to mail my dad a gift from Swiss Colony, and they wouldn't
mail it, cause of the heat here.

Sorry to hear you were banned Br, but not surprised. I hope these verses both comfort and encourage you...

John 15:18-22
“If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me.
If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin.

I am banned from about 13 forums for talking God.

A priviledge I have not yet been ousted from any site...although some have tried.

Ha, I actually got banned from a UR forum because I said smoking was a sin :-D

Just so nobody gets the wrong idea, we had a URist that was causing a lot of troubles on the forum way back when, so I decided to chase him down and confront him on his own turf. He really was a good kid with a big heart, just a bit misguided as he struggled to understand the death of his girlfriend.

Biblereader,
Where do you live that it's that hot? Is it possible to move to a cooler climate?

I get a little agitated when we as Christians will not be tolerated on other forums for mentioning God, but has anyone noticed an influx of Atheists coming in and bashing us lately? I suppose that's OK? And what blows my mind more is that many of them come in assuming we are all the same, i.e. we are brainwashed, don't question our beliefs, and so forth. What the atheists oftentimes fails to understand is to stereotype Christians all the same way is the same "unthinking" attitude they accuse us of being! That's called the pot calling the kettle black. Still, some don't get it even if a swinging bag of heavy rocks hit them on the side of the head.

And to prove what I just said, I was banned from a Christian forum for acting so-called troll-like. They did not like my British-Israel beliefs although I did nothing to start the thread and only answered respectably IMO. So much for the atheists' theory that we are on the same boat.

Ironically, in another forum, the owner and moderator and a few others embrace my beliefs as well, and actually asked me to moderate which I respectfully declined since my working hours are strange and I feared that certain days I would not do a good job. This other forum allows atheists to ask questions, but will not tolerate attacks and I've seen both threads and users banned for their insolence. This is why I now hang out over there more now than here although this place isn't too bad, and sometimes interesting topics come up e.g. end times or politics that I like to contribute here.

I had nothing to do with it.

On another forum (which I no longer visit) threads were locked (and the poster banned) before I was finished composing my replys just because someone posed a question that made some moderator think the poster wasn't a Christian. The questions were then deleted from the board.

We are all guests where ever we go, so we should not be surprised at what happens when we rub someone the wrong way. I'm glad I found this site. The mods and admins seem reasonable to me (a big thank you to you guys and gals). I do find it traumatic when it happens to me, but what can one do except go elsewhere.

So Jeff, smoking is a sin? I'm doomed because I like a good cigar once in a while. :-D

Ha!

Well then, before I get myself in a pickle, I suppose I ought to explain :-D

As some may know, this will be a repeat. For others, here's my short version.

I smoked for 21 years. The later half I lied to myself and said I only smoked a pack a day. In reality, it was closer to two packs. Sure, I had tried to stop several times, but I never really was able to.

One day, my step daughter wanted to go play catch football out in our backyard and I found out that I didn't have the lung capacity to run full sprint for 15 yards. Now, mind you, when I was a teenager, I jogged upward of 10 miles per day. I used to love jogging and being fit. When I went to "Go Long", it wasn't my muscles that gave out, it was my lungs.

Now then, I've worked hard to have a relationship with my step daughter. Anyone who has step children, especially when the other parent still holds a grudge, knows the difficulty of being a step parent. So... there I was, she actually wanted to spend some time with me, and I didn't have the lung capacity to "Go Long".... She was disappointed and needless to say, our catch football didn't last long.

It was kind of disheartening on my part and as I pondered the situation, I realized how selfish I was being with my habit. For awhile, I knew that smoking as much as I did wasn't good for me, but what I didn't realize was how it would effect those that were close to me, like my step daughter, and my son. Suddenly, I realized that because I wanted to enjoy my smoking, I was stealing the joy away from my children. Because I wanted to smoke, I threw away an opportunity to play with my step daughter... and I knew I was going to steal the joy from my son as well when he got older.

So, there it is. I felt that I was being selfish. The pleasure of me smoking outweighed my children's pleasure and I felt like I was robbing my children because of my selfishness.

In closing, it was the selfishness that was the sin, and for me not to be selfish, meant I had to quite smoking. I've lost track of the years, but I think I"m on about year 5 now without a cigarette. I still don't have my lung capacity back, but at least I can go out for bike rides and so far, my son isn't noticing that I'm struggling to keep up with him...

This is about the same thing I wrote in the forum that I was banned from except maybe I came right out and said that smoking was a sin for me, because I was being selfish. Mr. MoneyPennies reply was something to the effect that he was tired of us fundamental Christians telling everybody that smoking was a sin... (I thought I was actually pretty liberal lol)

So, there ya have it.

Hey guys!

Sheesh, ya know Spugeon smoked cigars too, and he felt condemned at times- feeling he wasn't saved because he persisted in this "sin". Still, his Calvinist views may have added to this attitude, thou I could so easily be wrong in that assumption.

Jeff said; "So, there it is. I felt that I was being selfish. The pleasure of me smoking outweighed my children's pleasure and I felt like I was robbing my children because of my selfishness."

All things are lawful for me,* but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify. Let no one seek his own, but each one the other's well-being. 1 Corinthians 10:23-24

Nothin' like the love between us- makin' the difference tween us and the world, huh?

I smoked for 20 years, but the Lord delivered me from the addiction. I have had 15 years of freedom! YEAH JESUS!

Can I ask what is it (exactly) to be banned? Do they tell you? Are you unable to view the site, or just no longer able to post on it? I could be next, since I am finally moving into some other forums to share Him now, so I guess I want to be prepared, so I won't blush too brightly.

LOL!

OK, this is a warning! You will be banned in 24 hours!

Bonnie, no one's going to ban you. :D

In most cases, people know they're eventually going to be banned. They probably came here after being banned form another site. For me, one would have to be consistently argumentative and would have shown a disrespect for fellow members and especially the Staff.

But most of the time, we just suspend the account for two weeks. 8-)

As for my comment to Jeff, it was made in a kidding manner. I don't feel guilty or convicted because of an occasional cigar. I am single, I don't do it around company that may object and if told I must quit due to health concerns, out they go. ;-)

Hey, we could start a poll! Options are,

Do you want to get Banned?
Yes
No
I"m not sure
Other (Please explain)

Don't get outa hand~ don't get banned. ><>

Hey Vic!
Well, if I have only 24 hours I guess I had best be SAYING something, huh?

Oh . . . I WON'T be banned after all? Gosh golly gee willikers I'm SO relieved. I shall do my very best to always show you the utmost respect sir-Vic. :P
Opps! Don't know just how my face made THAT expression. Hardi-har-har.

Now bout that cigar use . . .

Somehow- I figured you was doin' some kidding there, I TRY to kid around sometimes too~ thou you dudes are way better at funny talk than this ol' gal.

I don't think its the same thing~ cigar smoking as opposed to cigarettes I mean. Cigar smoking is often occasional ( like yours), while cigarettes are a constant daily, minute by minute if-I don't get one soon I'm gonna explode! It is nice to have the freedom to do as we wish while single. Hey, that's one definite plus in living alone ain't it? 8-)

Cause Jesus has pleasures (fun-funny stuff) awaiting us, forevermore! bonnie

Moses and Us Smoking
Concept, condensed/abstract; Erythropoiesis.
Smoking thought to be form of voluntary erythropoiesis.
The volume of natures niacin and other compounds transferred into and out of the blood, increases due to hypoxia.
To some smoking has been determined salutary.

For man to have started smoking, he needed a reason, and the reason is still the same today. Man found that by smoking different substances he could maintain better health, by supplying the body rapidly with needed elements, and at the same time combat many microscopic organisms. The rapid oxidization of the substances, cooks any organisms on the plant while chemically braking down the elements. It was wise for man to begin to use for his betterment, the fact that elements enter the blood system faster through the lungs, and not only does the burning of the bush take the place of digestion, it also saves the energy it would take to digest. Man soon found that he could better control his mind with a more controlled diet. And that each person could seek-out, through experiment, an herb that might help balance his metabolism.

The burning bush has been educational to man, but it has caused man to have to develop his self-discipline, a major move away from the animals. Let us not forget, what got us here, what formed man from the dust of the earth, and without which we would fall back.

The books say when you oxidation nicotine you get a vitamin. The pharmaceutical companies were not an option in the past. There is a lot of evidence indicating the symptoms associated with a deficiency of niacin, are diminished in the smoker. I think that's evidence the smoker is getting niacin.

Not only is a smoker getting a required vitamin, but through the exercise of smoking he boosts his red blood cell count which allows the transfer of needed elements at a higher rate. During the act of smoking, the body senses a lack of oxygen like if you went up into the mountains, and calls for more red blood cells. Hindus have an exercise where they hold your breath to accomplish this.

Smoking can be such an advantage to the individual, to society, that the dark ages in Europe were caused mainly due to the Vatican's efforts toward banning the practice of smoking. To get people to be different from those in the Middle East, the Europeans were asked/made not to smoke. Commercial, cultural, and historical ties to the Middle East were discouraged by religions in Europe. The effects of this politically motivated behavior we now call "The Dark Ages". And tobacco from the New World was the cure.

Nicotine is commercially obtained from tobacco scraps and is used as an insecticide and as a veterinary vermifuge. Nitric acid or other oxidizing agents convert it to nicotinic acid, or niacin, which is used as a food supplement.

NIACIN - Nicotinic acid- Biochem. A colorless, water soluble compound, C6 H5 NO2, prepared by the oxidation of nicotine and forming part of the vitamin B complex, used to prevent pellagra.

PELLAGRA - nutritional disorder caused in large part by a deficiency of niacin, a member of the vitamin B complex, and characterized by skin lesions and by gastrointestinal and neurological disturbances.

The Vitamin D Miracle Cure
"Dr. Reinhold Vieth is a clinical biochemist at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. He's one of Canada's more vocal advocates for increasing the amount of vitamin D we take. Dr. Vieth argues that we evolved under conditions in which we naturally made plenty of vitamin D, but as we migrated towards the poles we began to make less and less. Dr. Vieth says the current Health Canada recommendation for vitamin D intake is about 10 times lower than what we ought to be taking."
