Inherint contradictions teaching Faith Alone

1 John 3:9 - No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

No one who practices sin will remain in Christ.

Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us. 1 John 3:24

Thank goodness, if we should sin, we can confess our sins and be forgiven and cleansed.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9

Obeying the Gospel is how we are saved.
We obey the gospel (Romans 10:16) by choosing to believe the gospel (Romans 1:16) by trusting in the death, burial and resurrection of Christ as the ALL-sufficient means of our salvation. (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)
You “believe” what the Gospel says, but if you don’t actually do what it says, then your believing is useless.
I not only believe what the gospel says about the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I also trust in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ as the ALL-sufficient means of my salvation. If you fail to do the latter then your believing is useless.
Repent is the command of the Gospel.
Repent (change your mind) and believe the gospel.
Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 2:38
Water baptism "follows" having repented and believed the gospel. (Acts 10:43-47; 11:17,18; 15:7-9)
Obeying the Gospel is how we receive the Holy Spirit.
For the umpteenth time, we obey the gospel (Romans 10:16) by choosing to believe the gospel. (Romans 1:16)
And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.”
Acts 5:31
We receive the Holy Spirit when we believe the gospel. (Ephesians 1:13) Not to be confused with multiple acts of obedience/works which follow believing the gospel.

Only genuine believers obey Him unto salvation (Romans 10:16) and after salvation. (1 John 2:3; 3:9,10) Unbelievers obey a false gospel and a false religion that is motivated by pride and self righteousness.

No one who practices sin will remain in Christ.
Show me the word "remain" in 1 John 3:9. John said no one who is born of God practices sin. Period.
Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us. 1 John 3:24
Descriptive language and only those who have received the Holy Spirit abide in God. 1 John 2:3 - By this we know that we have come to know Him, (already know Him/already saved/demonstrative evidence) if we "keep" (Greek word "tereo" - guard, observe, watch over) His commandments. 4 The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep (guard, observe, watch over) His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
Thank goodness, if we should sin, we can confess our sins and be forgiven and cleansed.
So, every time you sin you lose your salvation and don't get it back until you confess your sin and if you overlook or forget a sin you are toast?
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9
1 John 1:9 is in contrast with 1 John 1:8 -if we say that we have no sin, (present tense) we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us and with 1 John 1:10 - if we say that we have not sinned, (past tense) we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

Believers "confess" (Greek - homologeó) speak the same/acknowledge/agree with God's perspective about their sins and have a settled recognition and ongoing acknowledgment that one is a sinner in need of cleansing and forgiveness in contrast with saying that we have no sin or that we have not sinned. (1 John 1:8-10)

Amen. So true.

And also in Ephesians…

For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not be partakers with them. Ephesians 5:5-7
We see a description of the unrighteous/sons of disobedience in Ephesians 5:5-7 and the righteous are told to not participate or even associate with them/keep away from those kinds of people. Now in verse 8 we see a description of the righteous. For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.

We obey the gospel (Romans 10:16) by choosing to believe the gospel (Romans 1:16) by trusting in the death, burial and resurrection of Christ as the ALL-sufficient means of our salvation. (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)
You believe in faith alone.
Faith alone is not found in scripture.

I not only believe what the gospel says about the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I also trust in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ as the ALL-sufficient means of my salvation. If you fail to do the latter then your believing is useless.
You believe in faith alone.
You state that faith is all sufficient.
Could you post some verses?
I don't believe this is what Jesus taught.
Repent (change your mind) and believe the gospel.
Actually, REPENT means a little more.
Repent means, yes, to change the mind....
but this changing of the mind requires ACTION....
Repent means to CHANGE DIRECTION....
It means changing your walk toward satan...
TURNING AROUND
and WALKING THE OTHER WAY toward God.
Again, it requires action.

IF it is only MENTAL...then also the demons believe (same idea).

When we change our direction and WALK toward God...
it means that we agree to OBEY God.

If we do not obey God...our walk becomes disrupted.

HOW do we obey God?
By doing what God taught us...
Jesus taught us.

Water baptism "follows" having repented and believed the gospel. (Acts 10:43-47; 11:17,18; 15:7-9)
There you have it....
IF we add baptism to salvation (which is correctly added)
Then FAITH ALONE ceases to exist because you have ADDED something to FAITH.

So faith is NOT all-sufficient as you've stated above.
For the umpteenth time, we obey the gospel (Romans 10:16) by choosing to believe the gospel. (Romans 1:16)

We receive the Holy Spirit when we believe the gospel. (Ephesians 1:13) Not to be confused with multiple acts of obedience/works which follow believing the gospel.
Unfortunately for you MMD...
GOOD WORKS,,,ACTS OF OBEDIENCE
MUST
follow our decision to believe....
because believe means to obey.

And Jesus taught that if we do not have good works, or fruit from our believing...
we will be cut off.
John 15:2 NASB
2 "Every branch in Me that does not
bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit.

Note that not only will an unfruitful branch be taken away...
but God prunes so that MORE fruit will be produced.

Note that the branch is "IN ME"
IN JESUS
It is a BELIEVER....

Unbelievers are NOT IN JESUS.

Only genuine believers obey Him unto salvation (Romans 10:16) and after salvation. (1 John 2:3; 3:9,10) Unbelievers obey a false gospel and a false religion that is motivated by pride and self righteousness.
Genuine believer is a term not found in the NT.

please read it as plainly as Jesus meant it.

We obey the gospel (Romans 10:16) by choosing to believe the gospel

Sorry sir, but the context and language of Romans 10:9-17 is unmistakable.

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

  • if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead

Believing in your heart alone is not the biblical pattern.

Believing in your heart, and therefore obeying the Gospel command to repent is how the scriptures teaches us to be saved.

Biblical believing carry’s the idea of the action of obedience;
the obedience of faith.

again

For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”
Romans 10:13

Based on your belief system there is no need to call on the name of the LORD to be saved.

What is the name of the LORD; YHWH the LORD God, that we call on, that we confess as LORD?

Jesus.
  • for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved

let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. This is the stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’ Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
Acts 4:10-12

We see a description of the unrighteous/sons of disobedience in Ephesians 5:5-7 and the righteous are told to not participate or even associate with them/keep away from those kinds of people. Now in verse 8 we see a description of the righteous. For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.

We are warned to not be partakers of the wrath of God along with them.

Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not be partakers with them. Ephesians 5:5-7
This is not talking about believers partaking in the wrath of God with unbelievers. Partakers here pertains to not participating or even associating with them/keep away from those kinds of people.

Don't forget verse 8 - For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.

2 Corinthians 6:14 - Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?

This is not talking about believers partaking in the wrath of God with unbelievers.

Therefore do not be partakers with them.

Who is Paul writing his letter to, and thus addressing?

The Christians at Ephesus.

Paul is warning the Christians at Ephesus not to be partakers of the wrath of God, along with the sons of disobedience.

Them = sons of disobedience

Don't forget verse 8 - For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.

2 Corinthians 6:14 - Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?

Yes. All warnings to Christians.

Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, Colossians 3:5-6

Sorry sir, but the context and language of Romans 10:9-17 is unmistakable.
Romans 10:16 is crystal clear and so is Romans 1:16.
that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
  • if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead
Believing in your heart alone is not the biblical pattern.
Confessing with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believing in our heart that God raised Him from the dead are not two separate steps to salvation but are chronologically together. The word of faith is in our mouth and heart TOGETHER. (Romans 10:8) Confession is a confirmation of faith and not a work for salvation. No one can say Jesus is Lord except BY the Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians 12:3)
Believing in your heart, and therefore obeying the Gospel command to repent is how the scriptures teaches us to be saved.
Repentance (change of mind) precedes believing the gospel. (Acts 20:21)
Biblical believing carry’s the idea of the action of obedience;
the obedience of faith.
The obedient act of choosing to believe the gospel is not to be confused with multiple acts of obedience/works which "follow" and are produced out of faith.
again

For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”
Romans 10:13
For a person who comes to the realization that he is lost and in need of Jesus Christ to save him, (Romans 3:23; 6:23) he may obtain salvation only by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. (Ephesians 2:8,9) One needs to understand that Jesus Christ, God in human form, took his sins and paid the penalty for his sins by His sacrifice on the cross of Calvary, was buried, and rose again the third day, and they need to make a genuine and willful decision to totally trust in Jesus Christ as the ALL-sufficient means of their salvation. In doing so one is calling on the name of the Lord. (Romans 10:13)
Based on your belief system there is no need to call on the name of the LORD to be saved.
False.
What is the name of the LORD; YHWH the LORD God, that we call on, that we confess as LORD?

Jesus.
  • for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved

This is in regard to progressive or ongoing sanctification for believers and not losing salvation. The sons of disobedience are the unrighteous who practice such sins. The righteous/those who are born of God may stumble at times but they do not practice sin. (1 John 3:9) and will not experience the wrath of God. (1 Thessalonians 5:9)

Romans 10:16 is crystal clear and so is

Yes it is.

Believe and therefore obey.

If believe wasn’t inclusive of obey then why mention obey.

Believe in our heart AND confess with our mouth.

Not just believe in our heart.

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

Not a warning of suffering God's wrath for Christians.

Yes. Plain and simple.

You have deceived yourself with empty words. You refuse to believe the truth.

Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not be partakers with them. Ephesians 5:6-7

  • Therefore do not be partakers with them.

Who does THEM refer to ?

Who is Paul writing his letter to ?

BE HONEST.

The good works we do are evidence to who?
To oneself primarily; to others secondarily.

God does not require evidence,,,
He sees our heart.

Is the evidence for man?
I do good works for the Kingdom of God...
to make it be a better place...
to love my neighbor, which includes everyone, IF I can by helping out in any way I can.

Jesus said we are to be a light for the world...
and salt.

This requires taking action....
If someone knows we are Christian, AND, they see us doing something good....
it gives GLORY TO GOD..
I don't believe I need to prove to my neighbor that I'm doing good works.
And, if a person claims to be a Christian, but doesn't do what is commanded, then their neighbours know their faith is false.

Mat 7:15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.
Mat 7:16 You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
Mat 7:17 So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit.
Mat 7:18 A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit.
Mat 7:19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
Mat 7:20 Thus you will recognize them by their fruits. (ESV)

In fact, Jesus said to pray in our closet...
to give secretly...
so as to not make a show of it, or be proudful of it.
If so, glory would go to us instead of to God.
Of course, but I don't see what this has to do with anything I said.

I don't believe EVIDENCE has any role in this discussion.
It has a role in this discussion because too many are still conflating works being evidence for salvation with works being necessary for salvation.

To BELIEVE means to OBEY.
And I do think you know this.
Obedience is evidence of belief.

Agreed. What has this to do with doing good works?
Nothing. It's just part of the passage.

Agreed.
If a person does not believe,,,he cannot be saved.

One must believe and obey to be saved.
To add "obey" is salvation by works. Where does that passage say "obey"? It only says that one must believe to be saved.

Whoever BELIEVES in Jesus is not condemned.

Are you saying that FAITH ALONE with nothing else, is sufficient for salvation?
Would you say this is true just at the moment that we become aware and become saved...
or do you believe FAITH ALONE will be sufficient for our entire walk with God?

THIS is what is being discussed.
SOLA FIDE,,,in its true meaning...is not found in the NT.
That we are justified (saved) by grace alone through faith alone is the NT teaching, and is exactly what sola fide means. A person who is saved does good works out of obedience to Christ and are evidence of their having been saved. I don't understand why this discussion keeps going in circles about this, given how clear the NT is.

Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,
Eph 2:9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. (ESV)

Tit 3:4 But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared,
Tit 3:5 he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,
Tit 3:6 whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,
Tit 3:7 so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
Tit 3:8 The saying is trustworthy, and I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful to devote themselves to good works. These things are excellent and profitable for people. (ESV)

And John also wrote his gospel because of heresies that were circulating already and to let us know that Jesus is God.

As God...we should be obeying Jesus.

Jesus said:
Matthew 16:27
27 "For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and WILL THEN REPAY
EVERY MAN ACCORDING TO HIS DEEDS.

Paul said:
2 Corinthians 5:10 NASB
9 Therefore we also have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him.
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each
one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

Every time we see the word BELIEVE, we have to stop and consider what is being said.
BELIEF ALONE is not in the NT.
It's throughout the NT.

Mar 1:15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”

Joh 1:12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,
Joh 1:13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

Joh 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up,
Joh 3:15 that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.
Joh 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Joh 3:17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Joh 3:18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
...
Joh 3:36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.

Joh 5:24 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.

Joh 6:40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”
...
Joh 6:47 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life.

Joh 7:38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’”

Joh 20:31 but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

Act 4:4 But many of those who had heard the word believed, and the number of the men came to about five thousand.

Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

Rom 3:22 the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction:

Rom 10:9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

Gal 2:16 yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.

Gal 3:6 just as Abraham “believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”?
...
Gal 3:22 But the Scripture imprisoned everything under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.

Etc. (All ESV.)

Where does Jesus say that salvation is by faith alone?
I can't find it...it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
I gave several verses above. Faith and belief are often used interchangeably. To believe in Christ is to put one's faith in Christ.

Atheists can have love for others.
I'm sure many atheists have done much more for humanity in general than I ever could.
Of course, but they don't claim to have faith in Christ.

I'd say that having love for one another is fruit of believing (for a Christian)
Which is what I said.

and I'd say that love covers a multitude of sins and also a multitude of help we are not able to give to others.

But God knows our heart and cannot be mocked.
Of course.

You believe in faith alone.
Faith alone is not found in scripture.
Faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation is found in scripture. (Romans 3:24-28; 4:5-6; 5:1; Ephesians 2:8,9 etc..). Faith (rightly understood) in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. You just don't understand.
You believe in faith alone.
You state that faith is all sufficient.
Could you post some verses?
I don't believe this is what Jesus taught.
Romans 3:24-28; 4:5-6; 5:1; Galatians 2:16; Ephesians 2:8,9; Philippians 3:9; 2 Timothy 3:15 etc..). Saved through faith "apart from additions or modifications" hence, faith alone.
Actually, REPENT means a little more.
Repent means, yes, to change the mind....
but this changing of the mind requires ACTION....
The ACTION which follows repentance is the fruit of repentance (Matthew 3:8) but not the essence of repentance.
Repent means to CHANGE DIRECTION....
It means changing your walk toward satan...
TURNING AROUND
and WALKING THE OTHER WAY toward God.
Again, it requires action.
That is the demonstrative evidence of repentance. Acts 26:20 declares, "I preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds."
IF it is only MENTAL...then also the demons believe (same idea).
It's one thing to believe mentally in our head that the death, burial and resurrection of Christ "happened" and it's another thing to trust in the death, burial and resurrection of Christ as the ALL-sufficient means of our salvation. The demons believe the former but not the latter.
When we change our direction and WALK toward God...
it means that we agree to OBEY God.
Obedience is the fruit of repentance and faith.
If we do not obey God...our walk becomes disrupted.

HOW do we obey God?
By doing what God taught us...
Jesus taught us.
The life of the believer is characterized by obedience (1 John 3:9-10) yet none of us are perfectly obedient 100% of the time. (1 John 1:8-10)
There you have it....
IF we add baptism to salvation (which is correctly added)
Then FAITH ALONE ceases to exist because you have ADDED something to FAITH.
Salvation by faith + baptism is salvation by faith + works. (false gospel)
So, faith is NOT all-sufficient as you've stated above.
Faith is sufficient because the OBJECT of our faith (Jesus Christ) is the ALL-sufficient means of our salvation. Christ's finished work of redemption is sufficient and complete to save believers. (Romans 3:24-28) No supplements needed. Apparently, you do not believe that Jesus Christ is sufficient for salvation, so you "add" your works.
Unfortunately for you MMD...
GOOD WORKS,,,ACTS OF OBEDIENCE
MUST
follow our decision to believe....
because believe means to obey.
4100. pisteuó -
Strong's Concordance
pisteuó: to believe, entrust
Original Word: πιστεύω
Part of Speech: Verb
Transliteration: pisteuó
Phonetic Spelling: (pist-yoo'-o)
Definition: to believe, entrust
Usage: I believe, have faith in, trust in; I am entrusted with.

Obedience which "follows" is works. (Romans 4:5-6; Ephesians 2:8,9) Works-salvationists cannot seem to grasp this.
And Jesus taught that if we do not have good works, or fruit from our believing...
we will be cut off.
John 15:2 NASB
2 "Every branch in Me that does not
bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit.
In John 15:2, Jesus mentions branches that bear no fruit and branches that bear fruit, but Jesus says nothing about branches that bear fruit but then later stop bearing fruit.
Note that not only will an unfruitful branch be taken away...
but God prunes so that MORE fruit will be produced.
In John 15:2-6, the branches that bear fruit and remain are genuine believers (like the remaining 11 disciples). The self-attached branches that bear no fruit and do not remain are not genuine believers (like Judas Iscariot).
Note that the branch is "IN ME"
IN JESUS
It is a BELIEVER....
When Jesus spoke these words in John 15, how many people at that time, prior to Him being glorified, had received the Holy Spirit and were baptized by one Spirit into one body? - "the body of Christ?" (1 Corinthians 12:13) -- NONE.

John 7:38 - He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. 39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

So "in me" is part of the metaphor of the vine (in the vine) and not in the body of Christ under the new covenant which was not yet fully established.
Without that vital union with Christ, there can be no spiritual life and no productivity. Those who profess to know Christ but whose relationship to Him is self-attached, Christ neither saved them, nor sustains them. Eventually, the dead self-attached fruitless branches are cut off.
Unbelievers are NOT IN JESUS.
As Greek scholar AT Robertson points out - there are two kinds of connections with Christ as the vine (the merely cosmic which bears no fruit, the spiritual and vital which bears fruit). Probably (Bernard) Jesus here refers to Judas.

Genuine believer is a term not found in the NT.
A believer is a believer.
The word GENUINE is not necessary to describe a believer.
Not all belief is the same. A genuine believer believes in Jesus Christ unto salvation. (Acts 10:43; 13:38-39; 16:31) The demons believe "mental assent" that "there is one God" (James 2:19) but they do not believe in/on the Lord Jesus Christ and are not saved. (Acts 16:31) Let that sink in.
Instead of adding words to scripture...
please read it as plainly as Jesus meant it.
Properly explaining scripture is not adding words to scripture. Your "face value" interpretation of scripture that fails to interpret scripture in context and also fails to properly harmonize scripture with scripture before reaching your conclusion on doctrine culminates in works righteousness which seems to tickle your ears.

Yes it is.

Believe and therefore obey.
Obey by choosing to believe. Not to be confused with multiple acts of obedience/works which follow.
If believe wasn’t inclusive of obey then why mention obey.
The King James Version renders this same verse as: He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that "believeth not the Son" shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. The NIV says "rejects the Son" and the HCSB says, "refuses to believe in the Son." To refuse to believe in the Son is to disobey, rebel, be disloyal and refuse conformity. Strong’s definition of apeitheo is "to disbelieve willfully and perversely." *In the context of 3:36, to "not obey the Son" means to reject the Son by refusing to believe in the Son.
If John wanted to make obedience the central theme in salvation here, he would have said: "He who believes and obeys the Son has eternal life," but that is not what John said. To obey the Son here is to choose to believe in the Son. Why wasn't obeyed mentioned in John 3:15,16,18; 6:40,47; 11:25,26?
Believe in our heart AND confess with our mouth.

Not just believe in our heart.

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
I already covered. You are trying to turn confessing with our mouth into a work for salvation. Again, confessing with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believing in our heart that God raised Him from the dead are not two separate steps to salvation but are chronologically together. The word of faith is in our mouth and heart TOGETHER. (Romans 10:8) Confession is a confirmation of faith and not a work for salvation. No one can say Jesus is Lord except BY the Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians 12:3)

BE HONEST.
You continue to misinterpret what Paul meant by "partakers" with them. Paul did not mean partakers of the wrath of God with them. He meant not participate or even associate with them/keep away from those kinds of people. I believe the truth. I am being honest. You are being biased.

AMPC - So do not associate or be sharers with them.
NASB - So do not be associated with them.
NRSV - Therefore do not be associated with them.
CEV - So don't have anything to do with anyone like that.
NLT - Don’t participate in the things these people do.
