Is believing/faith a work ?

We are elected unto obedience, not salvation. 1 Peter 1:2
Wrong. They are elected unto salvation by God. Through, and in support of that, are GIVEN by Christ, obedience to the faith: GIVEN grace and apostleship so that obedience in faith would be manifested in them -but not because of anything done by them

[Rom 1:5 KJV] 5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:

Hey Roger, I believe his statement is correct, but he doesnt understand it, because obedience to the Faith is the result and fruit of election.

Lol he made the statement out of ignorance, not realizing the obedience to the Faith is Spiritual Salvation, Conversion.

Everyone is elected to salvation, but first, we need to believe and then we need to be obedient unto the Lord. There are a lot of people who fail.

And also very important in that verse (which I'm sure you know brightfame52), is that it confirms the doctrine of election as we understand it to be - that the elect have "received grace and apostleship" by Christ - it is a gift.

It is a gift to those who follow Him all the days of their life.

False statement !
Luke 3:6 And all flesh will see the salvation of God.’”

Acts 2:21 ‘And it shall be that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’

Romans 5:18 So then as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men.

Romans 10:13 for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

1 Timothy 2:4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Titus 2:11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men,

Titus 2:12 instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age,

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

And neither were all the "we" that Paul was addressing
But dont you think Paul was referring to other Apostles when he said we ? All were not Apostles 1 Cor 4:9

For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men.

Careless use of scripture.

Perhaps I'm wrong but in the stating of the receiving of grace, it seems to me that the "we " was intended to include all of the elect - apostles and others elect alike - for obedience to the faith - that through the Spirit, all elect are made obedient.

[1Pe 1:2 KJV] 2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
