Well, you're the one saying we have to believe and ask for Christ in order to be saved.
But how could anyone know to do that if they've been blinded - we are all born blind?
Christ has to first save us for us to see and not be blinded.
By the fact you say and believe that means you still are

Of ourselves, we cannot do that, until saved we remain blind. Only
salvation opens the eyes.

[1Co 2:14 KJV] 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned.

You obviously didn't understand or can't believe 1Co 2:14. You didn't because your spiritual eyes are still blind
as the verse tells us

I am not a Calvinist, I do follow what the Bible teaches.

If God has chosen you to salvation before the foundation, then Christ has died for you and redeemed you, and the Spirit will sooner or later give Faith to believe in Christ 2 Thess 2:13

13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

We are elected unto obedience, not salvation. 1 Peter 1:2
