Well, when I did visit the COC down the street several years ago this is the impression they left me with.

I want a church with the depth and accuracy of Biblical knowledge of the COC with the passion and joy of the charismatics. I don't think it exists(?)

I've pretty well given up on the charismatic churches. They seem to be majoring in experiences at the expense of knowledge. It's scary. I need to be around level headed people. Not uneducated extremists.
All of this is part of the reason I ended up at a Vineyard.

Listen to the words. This should be a CELEBRATION! Do any of the faces reflect that sort of thinking? Where the voices go up (possibly indicating joy) notice that it is all in trained unison, as the song leader directs them to be louder at certain parts. That is kind of sad.

I have found that Charismatic Churches, Baptist Churches, Church of Christ Churches and all the rest, even Catholic Churches, have issues from church to church. A Great friend of mine is a Missionary in Antigua, Guatemala and he serves under a Charismatic Organization but he is one great Servant of God. When we make decisions about this Church or that Church we must be careful not to paint with too broad a brush, heck, there are some very good Catholic Believers, they just aren't members here.

Where are all the witness's for the accounts of mohammad and Joseph Smith and the JWs
They have all created fantasy tales because there is no substance to the claims they make. They are usually, very, self promoiting and like Professional Surfers, they are going to ride that Wave until it no longer will sustain them and it has always been then that their entire worlds collapse.

I don't believe the Church of Christ are a cult. We used to have a few in this forum that were frequent posters, if I remember correctly.

They don't believe that musical instruments should be used in a church service. They do however sing hymns.
I have a good friend that is a Church of Christ pastor. He is a very dedicated Christian. I don't believe that the Church of Christ is a cult. However, I was in church one time when he preached and I realized that our voices are instruments. I don't understand why they won't allow instruments in when our voices are instruments of the Lord. Also they believe in baptismal regeneration. In other words, you don't go to heaven unless you a baptized. That is something they stole from the Catholic Church. That is a false doctrine, but I don't believe the church is a cult.

I agree and not all of their pastors teach baptismal regeneration. It is not only hard to lump all the pastors of any association tightly together, it is a form of our own bigotry to attempt to do so.

I am not sure if all pastors teach baptismal regeneration, because I have only limited experience with the church. I know that the Duck Dynasty people are Church of Christ and they believe in baptismal regeneration. The friend of mine also believes in baptismal regeneration. I thought it was a tenet of church doctrine. I am not bigoted against them or the Catholic Church. No church is perfect. If it were no human would be able to join it because then it wouldn't be perfect.

It is but as men of the Word that study read, pray and submit, God works and some will, invariably change their teaching to what the scriptures teach to be true. It is just impossible to sweep all the trash under the same carpet without tripping people.

I went to a Church of Christ a couple of times. A good friend of mine is a COC preacher. I was just raising my hands and praising God anyway no matter what was happening around me. The people were very nice to me and my friend is very anointed. I'm not sure he realizes it though. I don't really like the fact that they don't have instruments in the church, but it didn't stop me from praising the Lord. Perhaps if I went on a regular basis they would want me to stop. All churches have problems with doctrine and theology. We live in a fallen world and it will be that way until Jesus returns. I wish for His quick return so He can clean this mess up.

I dont even know whats going on in this crazy world im just telling everyo to call out to Jesus even if they dont know who he is, just call out his name and i promised he would answer. The faith i have is that the real Christ will answer them as i have promised through his promise.

Yes, you can be fairly certain that you would soon be trained in the "proper" way to stand, to hold a song book, to keep from looking at others, never to smile.... in short, to their way of thinking, "worship."

Nope! If you were to go more often you would cause that Assembly, in that building, to loosen up and praise God from the heart.

Could be, but since I only go about once a year, they can't stop me. Not sure they could if I went there. Do you know how many people came up to me after the service and told me that the church needed me to become a member? It was actually kind of funny if it weren't so sad.

Yeah, all joking aside, it really is. I only set foot in a CoC anymore for an old friend's funeral, or if I am visiting old friends who still go.

With a broad stroke of the brush, I disagree. While what you say may be true in some c of c congregations, you'll hear clapping and see raised arms at ours.

It's not wrong if we don't use instruments is it?
