is hell real? and if so is it eternal?

I still love her though :)) was pressuring me into it with this horrible doctrine, and I ALMOST thought I was making a mistake by doing so thinking "What kind of God am I repenting to?"
EXACTLY!
You cannot cope with the TRUE God of scripture, so youve repented to the god youve created for yourself.
Some of us are different.
Some of us repent REGARDLESS of whether our HUMAN perceptions 'like' all the details or not.

But after doing a lot of research my mind is at ease so much, and if anything it makes my love for God grow immensely, and in turn it allows me to share that love with others.
You dont love a man by lying to him and duping him into believing that what Gods word SAYS isnt true.
That is outright hate because you are causing him to believe a LIE !

The question I asked is a very good one of self-reflection. Christ requires us to live selflessly, and if a Christian who believes in this doctrine isn't willing to give up their eternal happiness in exchange for the release of suffering souls, because they think their happiness is more important than millions of people suffering, then it's easy to see what kind of person they really are, and how much they really value selflessness and living for others. And if that's a case, can they really even truly call themselves a disciple of Christ?
If you TRULY were 'selfless' gent, youd accept GODS TRUTH even when 'self' doesnt like some of the details.
That you had to create God in YOUR OWN image shows precisely how selfish you truly are.

And I see that you are doing exactly what you accuse me of. Making personal jabs and insults....but you do it like shad does by making it sound like some generalization when we all KNOW who it is you are referring to here...we're not stupid, gent.

To WM:
I do not mean this is an insult at all either,
I wouldnt worry yourself about insulting me....I dont take the thoughts of false teachers very seriously, quite frankly.

but Christ did tell us to rebuke others for their sins, and our words are a reflection of our soul.
no, friend....they arent where Gods truth is concerned.
My 'soul' doesnt like ET any more than anyone else....but I cannot deny HIS TRUTH because I want to be selfish and CHANGE what it says to suit what MY senses prefer.

Essentially what wm is saying is "You don't agree with me and take my word for truth so you must be a blind fool."
...yawn....you sound like your comrade in arms shad at this point.
If you think you'll dupe the reader with this political tripe, think again. They arent that ignorant, gent...they can SEE that your error has been exposed and refuted here....
But what I'm trying to say is "You don't agree with me because you're not willing to live totally like Christ."
Please...your using emotional and political tactics just to sway a vote your way.
Firstly it isnt going to work. The readers here are far more intelligent than you give them credit for and they OWN a bible and can check what we each claim like the Bereans did.

some deny both, others say that its temporary.
Yes and yes.

Once again another thread turns into a battle of who's right and who's wrong. We really need to build up and encourage each other in the faith. Can I ask, what good so far has come from all this quarelling? I bet the enemy smiles when things like this happen. We need to ensure that we always have Gods will at the centre of our heart, not just the impulse to prove ourselves right. This 'My God', 'Your God', 'False God' - there is but ONE God, let us all always remember that. ONE way that is right, God's, not ours, regardless how much we think we know.

Now onto the topic, if I may. Scripture clearly indicates an eternal punishment, but why is that our focus? Our focus should be do to the Fathers will. Jesus gave us the blueprint to follow, so we must follow that and carry our cross. Who are we to question God? I mean, honestly? Who are we to determine what anyone's judgement should be? How can we say we don't want to be in heaven when we've never been there? How can we question Gods ways? We should be thankful for this life, for the opportunity to know the Father, we have NO RIGHT to demand or expect anything from God. We should make every effort to love him, every minute of our life. Whether off topic or not, we need to turn our focus on loving God and doing what pleases him, instead of this back-and-forth battle about what's going to happen to us. Do you trust God? Do you trust his mercy? His judgement? His ways? Then live like it! We speak confidently about what will happen to the wicked as if we are righteous ourself! We quote scripture to support our claims, yet our actions are self-righteous. LOVE God, follow his Son Jesus Christ, seek, pray, help, build up, encourage, offer advice, all with the mind and heart of Christ.

Sorry for the rant.

All praise and glory to God the Father and his Son Jesus Christ.

Is Hell real?

According to the Bible, yes it is.

"And THE EARTH OPENED HER MOUTH, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods. They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive INTO THE PIT, and the EARTH CLOSED UPON THEM:" Numbers 16:32-33

Is it real based on secular evidence? Yes, I would say so.

From Dr. Rawling's book "Beyond Death's Door":

"Each time he regained heartbeat and respiration, the patient screamed, "I am in hell!" He was terrified and pleaded with me to help him. I was scared to death. . . Then I noticed a genuinely alarmed look on his face. He had a terrified look worse than the expression seen in death! This patient had a grotesque grimace expressing sheer horror! His pupils were dilated, and he was perspiring and trembling — he looked as if his hair was "on end."
Then still another strange thing happened. He said,"Don't you understand? I am in hell. . . Don't let me go back to hell!" . . .the man was serious, and it finally occurred to me that he was indeed in trouble. He was in a panic like I had never seen before."

---

Is it eternal?

Matthew 25:41: "Then He will also say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels

Dan 12:2: "Many of those who sleep in the dusty ground will awake – some to everlasting life, and others to shame and everlasting abhorrence"

Matthew 25:46 "These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

Rev. 14:11 "And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever; they have no rest day and night, those who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name."

---

In response to the idea that God is to "nice" to damn His children to eternal fire...

God is just, we all know this. The just thing to do for sinners who do not repent and seek salvation is eternal fire. God loves us so very much He let His own Son die on a cross for our salvation. He let His Son be pierced by metal nails and hang on a cross till He was dead. This is HOW VERY MUCH He loves us! He has given the unsaved a chance, and if they do not wish to receive this majestic gift He has given, then they will face the consequences. God is so loving and kind and nice that it only takes faith and a prayer to be saved from eternal damnation!

God gives everyone a chance, and those who deny Him choose eternal fire.

Romans 1:18: "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,"

Romans 1:21: "For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened."

Romans 1:25: "For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen."

What about those who have never even heard of our Lord Jesus Christ? Are they screwed because no one ever brought the Truth to them? Nope!

Romans 1:20: "For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse."

Also death is death, you can't redifine the word to fit your own disgustingly sadistic doctrine.
I believe it is you and not Wm. Tipton who is attempting to redefine death. In your attempt to justify your theory of annihilationism it is necessary for you to define death ALWAYS as a physical death. This is not what scripture says. Spiritual death is simply a separation from God. This is from Vines Hebrew/ Greek Dictionary.

thanatos (2288) "death"---(b) the separation of man from God. "Death" is the opposite of life; IT NEVER DENOTES NONEXISTANCE. As spiritual life is "conscious existence in communion with God," so spiritual "death" is "conscious existence in separation from God."-- Vines Concise Dictionary pg. 83 (Caps are mine)

This is the second death--eternal separation from God. Scripture says there are 2 options, Kolasin aionion or zoen aionion, eternal punishment or eternal life, a conscious existence in communion with God or a conscious existence in separation from God.

uh, no.

the bible is clear that sin has its consequences,
death, and subuquent judgement.

no man on earth can really be sin free. only christ did that, and he suffured and paid for our sins at the cross, but this a discussion on that.
the afterlife for the unbeliever is what we are talking about.
I could be wrong, but I think I’m probably right. Either way, you want to repent of your sin, right?
hell on earth is nothing(the tribulation) compared to eternal damnation.

I completely agree with you. What I am about to pose is not an argument, but an attempt to further my understanding of the Lord's glorious Word!

How does eternal separation from God hold up next to Psalm 139:8?

7 I can never escape from your Spirit!
I can never get away from your presence!
8 If I go up to heaven, you are there;
if I go down to the grave[H7585], you are there.

H7585 - Sheol - hades or the world of the dead (as if a subterranian retreat), including its accessories and inmates: - grave, hell, pit.
