Is hellfire real?

its not then a literal fire, is there brimstone and planets and such like in this world? I know that the jews say but how does "death", the place called sheol which has the same thing of fire that torments be burned?
Whoa, it is a literal fire. But there's something unusual about it, as it comes up through you as well as enveloping you.

ok I can today burn satan and he would be bothered by that?i disagree in that view in that I have have heard of people trying to burn Ouija boards and they don't burn. what will correct is that there is a type of fire and so forth. remember that the lake of fire? its the very lake we call the dead sea. that lake until recently as mid 1800s would emit sulfur ash and catch fire and not go out for days. its started doing that again.

Never mind what I think will happen in hell.Lets look at Scripture which is the truth.
Matthew 3:12
Matthew 25:41
Mathew 25:46
2 Thessalonians 1:9
Revelations 14:10
Ah, but your opinion is so important to me, Kathi! Plus, isn't there some question about what happens post-Judgment? The present Hades (also known as Sheol) and all its inhabitants gets tossed into a bigger hell, Gehenna. So if the damned must burn forever, do they then keep burning and final Judgment is just a change in zip code? Supposing you do keep burning, will you still "feel" it?

1. Yes, I believe even Satan is "bothered" by being on fire. 2. I never heard about that Ouija board thing, but it would not contradict my idea; imagine if you were the Ouija board, you would burn and burn but not be consumed. You would certainly be bothered, to no end.

I believe that is why demons have such an attitude problem, and no mercy in them. They are themselves in anguish, know there is no end and nothing they can do about it but drag God's special creation (humans, made in His image) down with them (misery loves company).

the problem with that is, the Ouija board doesn't burn, doesn't catch fire. the fire doesn't last, it cant be lit!

otherwise I could force satan to flee with a simple torch. but we know that weapons of this fleshly nature cant touch him.

I think we're really getting way out there where the buses don't run. I'm going to get off here, tell you what. I just wanted to propose a basic theory that maybe answered the OP's original question. It is not a complete theory, and was not presented as such.

I try to use jewish thought as they basically teach what one of you said. a type of fire, a type of earth, sun and heaven exists in another realm. that is what I believe. though I do believe that the earth will be restored not destroyed. that is why I suggested a study of sheol, paradise and hades.

I'm not up on Jewish teachings at all, but what I hear is quite interesting. Are you messianic Jew, then? I used to watch Sid Roth a lot.

How do you know that?I know you have never been there :lol

My opinion and speculating the truth is not important. What is important is Scripture and what God has to say.

Tell me about it.
This would be off-topic here, but I could start a different thread somehere else. How would everyone feel about me doing that? I don't really care either way. I know I am supposed to evangelize, but I don't really enjoy talking about it.

Why don't you start a new thread about your experience.I would like to hear every detail. If it makes you too uncomfortable to discuss it maybe you would rather not do that. But if you choose to do so maybe the mods could tell you where to put it.

If a moderator suggests a place it would be appropriate, I guess it wouldn't be a problem to share my experience. Be forewarned, though, it's not quite as dramatic as Bill Wiese or MK Baxter. It's all up close and personal, however.

I should also warn that my account would include at least one item that many if not most people here would find extremely controversial. I have no wish to challenge anyone's belief system, and thus another reason for my reticence.

I don't bother with nde. if they were true there wouldn't be a contradiction of the descriptions. unlike the gospel where its a different view the visions of heaven or hell aren't the same.

a vision yes but to actually go there? not likely. john was in heaven and if you notice he was there and didn't mention what is often passed as heaven from nde. he also had the same vision as the other prophets. some differences as he saw more indepth but not so much to dismiss them.

no, what I have said I haven't heard from messianic jews. they wouldn't do the kaddish nor teach sheol as a purgatory. that is from chassidics jews.

I think it is fair to hear Kevin's story.
