Is it unBiblical to drive over the speed limit?

Ask yourself, would you want someone else driving overly fast or dangerously fast in the vicinity of your family and friends? Consider what the Bible says on this in Matthew 7:12:

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

and Luke 10:25-28:

On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. "Teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?"

"What is written in the Law?" he replied. "How do you read it?"

He answered: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind' and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' "

"You have answered correctly," Jesus replied. "Do this and you will live."

So as Jesus said, one of the two most important things to do is to love your neighbor as yourself, and this means refraining from acting in ways that would place them (and yourself) at risk of injury.

This is a universal concept. See the ethic of reciprocity (or the Golden Rule).

Isn't that kind of unpleasant for people living in Iran or North Korea? The rulers of those countries seem to fear those who do right, and execute them in many cases.

Confession: I also tend to match the speed of other drivers when the majority are over the limit.

Well we all say America had Christian founding; However, many of the people back in the day did mob/vigilantic behavior in the name of God often times. Was this justified?

Not at all! I drive faster on the freeway if needed in order to keep up with traffic. It could be wrong ethically, but I don't believe I am sinning for doing so.

I drive over the speeding limit all the time without knowing it. I usually go along with the traffic
its safer that way. But passing cars is a no no. You shouldn't put other people God's children in danger/ :naughty

J/k, but seriously it drives me crazy when people fly up behind me and ride too close because they think I'm going too slow. Usually I'm either doing the speed limit or 5 over, depending if I'm in a residential area or not. I don't think that if you're going a couple of miles over it is a sin per say, but if your doing so puts someone in danger then it is wrong.

We are told to submit to the proper authorities - except when it goes against what God would have us do. That is why I (and many other Christians) don't have any problem at all with smuggling Bibles into places like China, where Bibles are banned.

The question is: Does one's guardian angel ever travel faster than the speed limit? I mean, I wouldn't want to be barreling along at like 70 mph, and then get into some real danger, just to find that my guardian angel was obeying the traffic laws and was about 1/2 back down the road.
