Sister
jabhat, you might also want to consider the Holy Spirit mentioned as the Supreme Divinity God when mentioned as “The God.” You can read of an example of this in Heb 13:20. “Now
the God of peace (The Holy Spirit), that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant.”
Now let's look at Him who is called
the First and the Last.
I explained you above that He is Jesus in the OT.
But what we see in the NT? You made a reference to Revelation, saying that He is the Father.
Now Let's know who He is....
I quote from the NKJV.
7 Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.
8 “I am the
Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and
who is to come, the Almighty.”
18 I am He who li
ves, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.
Revelation 1
Ok He is Jesus. Look at Him:
12 Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands, 13 and in the midst of the seven lampstands
One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band. 14 His head and
hair were white like wool,
as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire; 15 His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters; 16 He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength. 17 And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last.
Ok Jesus does NOT look like an average man. Why? He is NOT a man at all.
This is His appearance...He already showed Himself to people in such form...
Transfiguration of Jesus: Mark 9: 1-13, Matthew 17:1-13
Matthew 17 (NKJV)
Jesus Transfigured on the Mount
17 Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves; 2 and He was transfigured before them.
His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light. 3 And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. 4 Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, let us make here three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
5 While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!” 6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were greatly afraid. 7 But Jesus came and touched them and said, “Arise, and do not be afraid.” 8 When they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only.
9 Now as they came down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, “Tell the vision to no one until the Son of Man is risen from the dead.”
10 And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”
11 Jesus answered and said to them, “Indeed, Elijah is coming first and will restore all things. 12 But I say to you that Elijah has come already, and they did not know him but did to him whatever they wished. Likewise the Son of Man is also about to suffer at their hands.” 13 Then the disciples understood that He spoke to them of John the Baptist.
Why did Jesus appear in such a form?
Because it was His appearance as He always looked like. How? Do you remember that God is Spirit? I.e. a Spiritual Being?
Vision of the Ancient of Days/God the Father
9 “I watched till thrones were put in place,
And
the Ancient of Days was seated;
His
garment was white as snow,
And the
hair of His head was like pure wool.
His throne was a fiery flame,
Its wheels a burning fire;
10 A fiery stream issued
And came forth from before Him.
A thousand thousands ministered to Him;
Ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him.
The court was seated,
And the books were opened.
...
13 “I was watching in the night visions,
And behold,
One like the Son of Man (JESUS/the SON of GOD),
Coming with the clouds of heaven!
He came to the Ancient of Days,
And they brought Him near before Him.
14 Then to Him
(JESUS/the SON of GOD) was
given dominion and glory and a kingdom,
That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him.
His dominion is an everlasting dominion,
Which shall not pass away,
And His kingdom the one
Which shall not be destroyed.
Daniel 7 (NKJV)
Why? Because
JESUS/the SON of GOD is the KING....He is the King of Israel and our King.
