Is this your answer to my questions or another question for me?

If it’s a question, the answer is nothing! That’s the point. It’s a passage that has zero to do with the resurrection of eternal life (or departure from it). Yet you claimed earlier that’s what the passage is about. When it’s obviously not.

Paul’s talking about them not departing from the faith in the things he’s taught them ABOUT whether eating meat and marriage is proper versus rejection of the opposition view (“worthless myths”) as being taught by elderly women, obviously when read in context. 4:1-5 is one big long contextual sentence. With it’s application summarized in v 6-7. It has zero to do with losing salvation in the first place. Yet you ‘tagged’ it as being one one the clearest teaching it. This is why people snip a portion of a verse here and there and insert their own ideas about it’s context and run with it. And avoid answering the really relevant questions surrounding them like the plague.

I would be more than pleased to get back to the OP’s Scripture (which nobody seems to want to actually address in it’s broader context either) and it’s point.

But as it stands, you are the one who brought up 1 Tim 4:1-2 and are supposed to be somehow supporting your position that 1 Tim 4:1-2 is “speaking about those who have been Spiritually renewed and had the promise of eternal life”. When of course it says no such thing. There is no verse in the Bible for people who “had” (past tense) the promise of eternal life. Including this one.

But reject those worthless myths told by elderly women, and train yourself for godliness.
1 Timothy 4:7 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=1 Timothy 4:7&version=LEB

I used 1 Timothy 4:1, 2 to only show how Paul said the Spirit said many will depart from the faith giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils. One who departs from faith has no longer the promise of eternal life. But after eight pages all we are doing is repeating ourselves over and over. Let the scriptures speak for themselves and all believe what they will. This is only another of how many OSAS vs OSNAS and it's time for me to walk away as there is nothing more I can give to this thread so God bless and have a great evening :) it's bedtime.

If one departs the faith, that means they were at one time IN the faith, right? And, to be in the faith means they have believed in Christ, and, therefore, have received the free gift of eternal life.

And Jesus said that those He gives eternal life shall never perish.

I can't imagine which part of "shall never perish" isn't being understood.

This thread is about the resurrection of life.

Here is who Jesus said will come forth in the resurrection of life.

  • those who have done good, to the resurrection of life

28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice 29 and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation. John 5:28-29

If you don’t agree with what Jesus taught here, which is those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, then please tell us why.

If you have another subject pertaining to eternal life or OSAS, please start a thread about that particular subject.

I've already answered this, but will do so again.

Only 2 choices: either believe in Christ and receive eternal life, or reject Christ and end up perishing.

That may be two choices given in other parts of scripture, that concerns, being born again, but those two choices are not mentioned by Jesus in John 5:28-29.

28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice 29 and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation. John 5:28-29

Since there are only two possible views about those who will come forth in the resurrection of life:

  1. Those who have done good
  2. Those who have done evil

Which one of these two choices will come forth in the resurrection of life?

John 10:27-29 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand.

John 6:37
All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.

John 5:24 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.

What about those few verses are hard to understand? We can walk away from the faith , sure. But those who are in Christ are his forever because we were his before the beginning of our time. Ephesians 1:4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love.

Jesus said in those three verses above that while we can leave him, he will never cast us away. Arguments to the contrary are contrary to the truth of God's word.
Why :wall:angry3 :readbible :angry3:confused , concerning those who don't believe?
The Bible tells their fate too. We know their name. Jesus doesn't.
We're going to argue and change all that? And to what end? :screwloose2:crying :pray God calls those who are his to him. He knows them by name. They can't resist. We didn't resist. Who chooses Hell when Heaven is paradise?
Think about the egoism and pride that hopes to lead people to believe them! Over God's eternal and written word. So that we have no excuse not to know what God himself says.

Revelation 21:8
But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”
latest

Hell is a damned shame. But for those that hope to lead people away from the truth of God and his word concerning eternal salvation, it is destiny, as God says too. :sad And it was a choice of those headed there.

Hey buddy, when the New Testament is denied and can't get through it would be absolutely silly for this Christian to try.

Hey buddy, when the New Testament is denied and can't get through it would be absolutely silly for this Christian to try.

Can you show me a post where I denied the New Testament.

Are you denying that Jesus said these words?

  • those who have done good, to the resurrection of life

28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice 29 and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation. John 5:28-29

Do you believe that by attacking me, that these words will somehow not be true?

So true.

It’s sad that the simple truth of the New Testament is being denied on such an elementary level by people that have been Christians most all their life.

I have asked for scripture from them that states those who no longer have faith in Christ still have the same promise as those who remain faithful to Him, but have never been given one.
