We are baptized into Christ when we are born again.
The Spirit baptizes us into Christ.
Afterward we are baptized in water by man.
Afterward we are baptized by Jesus with the Holy Spirit.
Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them, who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit. For as yet He had fallen upon none of them. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
Acts 8:14-16
In this story when do you see these folks were saved; born again?
- Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God,
Here when they received the Gospel message?
- They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
Here when they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus?

I don’t any anymore emphasis on speaking in tongues that any other operation of the Spirit.
Those are your words, not mine.
We are discussing speaking in tongues because one of the mods created and named this thread and moved it over here from the born again thread.
The biblical evidence that someone has received the Promise of the Father, which is the baptism with the Holy Spirit, is speaking in tongues.
If you don’t want this then that is on you.

Because not everyone has received the baptism with the Holy Spirit.
Mainly because of misunderstanding through bad teaching.

If you will read the account in Acts 8:14-19, you will see that these folks were baptized in water, but had to have the Apostles come down and lay hands on them.

Does your Church teach on the baptism with the Holy Spirit by laying hands on people to receive?

i have read the book of acts i like that book very explosive how the church was formed. the Holy spirit being ushered in at Pentecost and the power was new . i cant explain why things happened then and not now. this was all GOD the spirit does work through us . i have seen things take place in church through prayer and laying hands on. i dont buy into benny Hinn . the spirit works freely... < Does your Church teach on the baptism with the Holy Spirit by laying hands on people to receive? > we leave that up to the individual we are non denom preach the word more than just acts.. does yours teach osas ?

Why don’t you try addressing the scriptures I have presented, rather than making up things that I never said.

Every person I have ever talked with that has been baptized with the Holy Spirit, said they spoke with tongues when they got it.
Funny how all the people that have never been baptized with the Holy Spirit, don’t speak with tongues.

funny aint it i find many who spend more time bragging on speaking in tongues ,than they do bragging on Jesus . it appears speaking in tongues is the most important thing. yes the post is about tongues
i am so happy for them... i even took the time to show what baptized means.. i did notice you tip toed around it have a good night

When we turn to Acts 2, we find that about 3,000 Jews received the gift of the Holy Spirit (baptized with the Spirit) on the day of Pentecost. None of them were reported to have spoken in tongues, and this would be the norm. Only those who had been waiting and praying in the upper room (the apostles and the disciples of Christ). And that too so that tongues would be a sign to the thousands of Jews gathered in Jerusalem for the feast of Pentecost.
First we have an incident in Acts 8, where Samaritans were saved and baptized, but had not received the gift of the Spirit. We read that Peter and John laid hands on them and they received the Spirit. There is an assumption by some that they spoke in tongues, but that is not recorded.
However, when we turn to Acts 10, there was a very good reason why those Gentiles who received the Spirit spoke in tongues. It was a sign to Peter and his Jewish companions that those Gentiles had also received the gift of the Holy Ghost. That is because at the time, even Peter had a very hard time believing that God would saved Gentile "dogs".
Then we have the incident in Acts 19 where the disciples of John the Baptist had been baptized, but had not heard of Jesus or the Holy Ghost. In this case Paul laid his hands on them and they received the Spirit, were baptized in the name of Christ, and also spoke in tongues. This was to give them evidence of the power of the Holy Spirit, of whom they had not heard.
Each time a person repents and believes on the Lord Jesus Christ, they receive the baptism with the Holy Spirit. But not all speak in tongues, neither it is the norm in Scripture. Even Paul did not speak in tongues at his baptism, although He did receive that spiritual gift later (as we are told).
Though you can't seem to let go I state you are mistaken. There is one baptism and Jesus baptizes with the Holy Spirit. Someone who has not yet received the Spirit is not born anew of the Spirit.
It is also written, (biblical evidence) that someone has received the promised Holy Spirit
"The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children."

Making up more nonsense about me, and attacking my relationship with the Lord, while rejecting the scriptures and the pattern they show us.
Not cool.
God doesn’t make anyone receive any of His wonderful gifts, especially the. Baptism with the Holy Spirit, which is the Promise of the Father.

Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. There are three baptisms brother, as the scriptures show us.
Here Paul shows the foreshadow of all three baptisms from the Old Testament.
Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea,
1 Corinthians 10:1-2
- all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea,
- Baptized into Moses = Baptized into Christ
2. Baptized in the cloud = Baptism with the Holy Spirit
Acts 1:5, Acts 2:4, Acts 8:14-16, Acts 10:44-47, Acts 19:1-6
3. Baptized in the sea = Baptism in water
Acts 8:36-39
Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, “See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?”
Then Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.”
And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”
So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him. Now when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more; and he went on his way rejoicing. Acts 8:36-39
