Sorry for the delay, Veteran, I see you were the last one who posted, and it took me a day to get back (my crazy work schedule). Anyways, I have on my computer a moderately long genealogy of the royal lineage--- a typical genealogical chart fit for framing. Unfortunately, I cannot find the site that has this chart to refer you to it, but when I "google" Adam to Elizabeth genealogy, I came up with this site. This person claims the Bible and Judah's Sceptre/Joseph's Birthright as the sources, and seems to understand the most important lineages so as not to be lost in the details (there's scriptural references at the bottom as well regarding each branch-off)

http://www.eternalthroneofdavid.com/lia ... zabeth.htm

I used to have a similar chart on a geocites site (those freebies) just for purposes like this, but as you may or may not know, the free service got canned.

There are many simple charts out there, but they just mainly trace one line without regards to other significant ones. There's moderately involved ones like this link, and then I also have a chart so detailed that one needs a magnifying glass to see the names, but the chart itself is as large as a poster (and as complex as any electronic circuit diagram! :D ) I found that going to either extreme on the genealogies has its problems of being too simplistic or getting lost in the details, so for the time being the link I supplied may suffice. However, I will not sleep (properly) until I find a site with that good chart that I have in my computer and that I frame on my living room wall. It's pretty neat--- I'll keep looking!

Veteran, (THE) and Whirlwind:

I found it! The neat genealogy chart on the Internet I mentioned in the previous post that I framed in my living room. I could not find this on the Internet for you for the life of me so I prayed and the answer came!

Royal Lineage

Since it comes from a blog, if you do not have a copy, I'd save one now, because for whatever reason this comes and goes. The last time I remember finding this was years and years ago. God does indeed delight in the continuation of His Throne, until that Day.

Like I've always said, Jesus Christ has ALWAYS been The KING, even before He came in the flesh to die on the cross. And I think others here have well covered the difference between His rulership over all the creation vs. when He will de facto establish a literal reign on earth in Person with the "rod of iron" that Psalms and Revelation speaks of.

Christ's first coming was meek as a Lamb, to sacrifice Himself on the cross. But His return will not be like that, when He de facto rules here on earth with that rod of iron.

John 18:36
36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if My kingdom were of this world, then would My servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is My kingdom not from hence.

3concerning His Son, who was born of a descendant of David according to the flesh, 4who was declared (H)the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Jesus Christ our Lord,

Putting a statement of present Lordship together with a connection to David is basically identical to the claim "Jesus is on David's throne".

That's a bit too far of a reach. The verse does not 'directly' say Christ is reigning upon David's throne.
First of all, the text does not to make its point in some explicit "direct" form as you seem to expect. There is no explicit statement of the doctrine of the Trinity in the Bible, yet most Christians believe it. Second, it is not a reach. Note this – the very first statement in new Testament:

The record of the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah, the son of David, (B)the son of Abraham:

The gospel writer declares Jesus to be “King†(Christ) and marks Him out as the son of David. That can only be interpreted one way – this gospel writer sees Jesus as occupying the Davidic throne. David was King, Jesus is now being described as King (Messiah means King). And Jesus is described as the son of David. How could a king who is the son of King David not be occupying David’s throne?

There are many other texts that establish that Jesus is both a reigning King and a descendent of David. So when Paul ties kingship together with Davidic descent in Romans 1, there is little doubt – Paul considers Jesus to be a sitting King (look at the text I have already posted from Romans 15 – this show that Paul sees Jesus as a king over the material world) and that He is specifically in the line of David.

I see no way of avoiding the conclusion that Jesus took the Davidic throne 2000 years ago.

Well, just hold on that thought then, because I'm not required to prove to you that Christ has yet to take the throne of David, on this earth. Scirpture exists to show that He will receive it, but is not saying that as past tense. I've already posted that. If you choose not to believe it as written, fine. You're free to jump to your own conclusions, and I know it won't change a thing. For God's Word will come to pass as written. In the near future, you will definitely be able to recognize the difference between today's world and Christ's Kingdom when He comes back to this earth in Person to rule with the "rod of iron" over the nations that are left. My hope is that you see that distinction before He comes, so you won't be deceived by the coming great tribulation that's to occur just prior to His return to earth.

We have been over this many times. The "sad state" of the world is not any kind of argument against the present kingship of Jesus.

You're terribly wrong on that one too! The state of the world is VERY MUCH about Christ's literal reign upon this earth.
I am not wrong.

The fact that you cannot accept Paul's clear statement that Jesus' reign is in place even while sin and death are in the world is not my problem.

Remember what Paul actually said:

For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet.

This is a clear stateiment that Jesus' reign will be in fact established before all the enemies are finally dealt with.

So it's important that we never forget the following...

Rom 14:11-12
11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
(KJV)

The wicked on earth have yet to bow their knee to God/
Not a valid argument. The fact that all people have yet to bow to the reigning King does not mean that He is not King right now.

Oh, but yes, the wicked that have power in the world today is VERY MUCH a valid point concerning Christ's future de facto in Person reign. It's even a greater point after Christ's "thousand years" reign of Rev.20, when ALL the wicked will PERISH in the "lake of fire" along with Satan and the abode of hell!

There shall never be another rebellion against God a second time...

Nahum 1:9-10
9 What do ye imagine against the LORD? He will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time.
10 For while they be folden together as thorns, and while they are drunken as drunkards, they shall be devoured as stubble fully dry.
(KJV)

I don't care if you believe me or not about the wicked will one day PERISH off this earth. But you might consider believing our Heavenly Father Who declared it...

Ps 37:10-20
10 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.
11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
12 The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.
13 The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.
14 The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation.
15 Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.
16 A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.
17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous.
18 The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.
19 They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.
20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.
(KJV)

Will you argue against our LORD there also, in favour of your love of this world today with all the wicked still in it? What will you do and say when Christ returns and separates His servants apart from the wicked "goats"? Will you say to Him that He's not supposed to destroy the wicked off this earth, that He nowhere declared that?

And His elect servants are to rule with Him having that rod of iron also (Rev.2:27). Where on earth is that manifested today? It isn't, not yet, but it will be when Christ gets here.
Your argument seems to be that since we do not yet rule with Him, He cannot be King. That is not correct logic, and it flies in the face of 1 Corinthians 15:

For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. 23But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, after that those who are Christ's at His coming,

The important is the time ordering - first Jesus, then us. So there is no necessity to see that Jesus' reign cannot begin until we begin our co-reign with Him.

But that's still where you are terribly wrong and deceived, because there ARE servants of Christ Jesus on earth that are RULING in His stead! I think you well know who they are to, and where they are. They rule by Divine ordination upon THRONES too!

And I find it strange that the evil "workers of iniquity" haven't been able to destroy the seed of the house of David that is still established upon this earth upon thrones in rule! How that must fly in the face of those who want so much to steal Christ's Kingdom today.

Don't be deceived brethren, because Christ's enemies have been trying to take David's throne on earth for many centuries. That's even what the French Revolution was about, in executing the king and queen of France, and also the later murder by Russian Communists of Czar Nickolas II and Alexandria (descendents of Queen Victoria). The LORD is going to allow His enemies to setup 'their king of the world' for a short time on this earth though. It will be interesting to see, because they want very much the throne of David that's still on earth today, established among literal seed from the house of David that still on this earth. It's like our Lord said in Gen.49:10, that royal sceptre will not depart from Judah's hands until Christ comes, and to Him shall the gathering of the people be. Mark that is not going to happen until AFTER their fake king of the world is setup on earth first, the Antichrist, the pseudo Christ of Matt.24:24 and Mark 13:22, the false one Apostle Paul warned of in 2 Thess.2.

:-) Thank you Tim....it is saved.

Another interesting thing about that page is contained in the drawing of the throne. Under the seat is, or was, what has been named....the Stone of Scone. It is thought that this is the stone upon which Jacob/Israel "set it up for a pillar." When Jacob had his dream/vision of angels ascending and descending on a ladder (ramp) he had taken "of the stones of that place and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep." [Genesis 28:11] This place was named Beth-el....the house of God.

  • Genesis 28:13-14 And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, "I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed: And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

28:18 And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.

Genesis 35:14 And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he talked with him, even a pillar of stone: and he poured a drink offering thereon, and he poured oil thereon.

That is thought to be the same stone that was taken to Scone, Scotland and rested under the throne of Scotland and of England. Not long ago it was returned to Scotland. It is a very interesting study.

This is an interesting verse concerning the Tzar and Tzarina, rulers of Russia/Edom....

  • Amos 2:1 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Moab, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime:

And that is exactly what was done to the bodies of the king of Edom/Russia!

Why would you equate Edom to Russia? That makes no sense.

Esau is Edom and Edom is Russia.

  • Genesis 25:30 And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.

Genesis 32:3 And Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother unto the land of Seir, the country of Edom.

Deuteronomy 23:7 Thou shalt not abhor an Edomite; for he is thy brother: thou shalt not abhor an Egyptian; because thou wast a stranger in his land.

The "chief prince of Meshech and Tubal" refers to Russia and Moscow.

  • Ezekiel 38:2-3 Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:

There is no Biblical support for this position - you will find no texts that place Jesus in the position of kingship before his appearance in world 2000 years. Its a nice Sunday School - y idea to suggest that Jesus has always been king, but it simply does not stand up to Scriptural muster.

At his trial before Caiaphus, Jesus claims to be a king and be the “son of man†figure who comes on the cloud in Daniel 7. What happens to this figure? Here is the relevant text from Daniel 7:

I kept looking in the night visions,
And behold, with the clouds of heaven
One like a (W)Son of Man was coming,
And He came up to the Ancient of Days
And was presented before Him.
14"And to Him was given (X)dominion,
Glory and (Y)a kingdom,

(Z)That all the peoples, nations and men of every language
Might serve Him
(AA)His dominion is an everlasting dominion
Which will not pass away;
(AB)And His kingdom is one
Which will not be destroyed.

The Son of Man figure – who Jesus claims to be – is given a kingdom after his victory over the great beast. I will not argue the point here, but the victory over the beast is essentially a reference to what happens on the cross.

Jesus has not always been King, but He is King now.

Not this again. This is one of the most misleading texts in the Bible, and even though people are corrected on it repeatedly, they will cling to what they choose to believe, no matter what. I will try again:

Pilate then went back inside the palace, summoned Jesus and asked him, "Are you the king of the Jews?"34"Is that your own idea," Jesus asked, "or did others talk to you about me?" 35"Am I a Jew?" Pilate replied. "It was your people and your chief priests who handed you over to me. What is it you have done?" 36Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place."

In verse 36, Jesus seems to be saying "My kingdom has nothing to do with earthly kingdoms, so there is no 'political' dimension to my kingdom".

As it turns out, there is a huge translation issue here. Here is the rendering of verse 36 as per the NET Bible:

Jesus replied, “My kingdom is not from this world. If my kingdom were from this world, my servants would be fighting to keep me from being 1 handed over 2 to the Jewish authorities. 3 But as it is, 4 my kingdom is not from here.

The NET version is, my sources indicate, true to the original Greek. The greek word that is rendered “from†(above in the bolded and underlined cases) has the following definition:

“a primary preposition denoting origin (the point whence action or motion proceeds), from, out (of place, time, or cause; literal or figurative; direct or remote)â€

When the word is used properly, we see that the “not of this world†reading is misleading. The intended meaning is that the Kingdom that has been brought to earth is from Heaven - that is, Heaven is the point of origin for the Kingdom that has been initiated.

Jesus is a King. Jesus' kingdom, while not from this world, is rather clearly for this world.

I have, of course, never stated that Jesus is sitting on an earthly throne. You are not engaging my arguments that show that Paul sees Jesus as presently enthroned. If you do not engage my arguments, how can you claim that your position is sustained? I have never denied that Jesus is coming back. But I am not the one ignoring the huge mountain of scripture that states that Jesus is already enthroned over worldly institutions.

I have posted all sorts of arguments for this, none of which have been countered. Many are simply ignored. But I am patient. Which one of the following arguments do you wish to directly challenge me on in respect to establishing that Jesus is King:

1. Matthew 28: “all authority on earth has (already) been given to Meâ€. How do you deal with this. Veteran. How is Jesus not king if He has all authority?

2. Daniel 7: a vision where the Son of Man is enthroned over all nations. Jesus clearly claims to be the Son of Man character before Caiaphus;

3. Romans 15: Paul declares that Jesus has “arisen†to rule the nations – a clear indication that Jesus is king as of the resurrection.

And there are more. I am not sure what texts you seem to think place Jesus’ enthronement in the future. But these texts (above) clearly have Jesus already enthroned. Only two possibilities are open – you are mistaken about those others text or the scriptures contain a lot of errors

Hey, I could not agree more. It is entirely wrong for any human ruler to say that they are effectively the promised Davidic ruler. But we know who that ruler is. It is Jesus and He is already on the throne!. This is what Paul is saying when he says this:

Paul, a bond-servant of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, 2which He promised beforehand through His prophets in the holy Scriptures, 3concerning His Son, who was born of a descendant of David according to the flesh, 4who was declared the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Jesus Christ our Lord,

What is the word that is translated as "Lord" here? It is "kirios" - the very same term people used in order to refer to Caesar! Paul is saying that Jesus is the Davidic King who replaces Ceasar as ruler of all the earth. I suspect that the only escape route for you is to say that "Lord" does not mean "political" Lord, it means lord of the inner lives of Christians only. Well, that simply does not work. When Jesus claims to be the Son of Man figure who gets enthroned in Daniel 7, we understand that, as per the following is indeed an "earthly" kingship:

And to Him was given dominion,
Glory and a kingdom,
That all the peoples, nations and men of every language
Might serve Him

Hello veteran:

When I say that Jesus is already king (following Paul and Jesus Himself), I am not denying that all sorts of important things related to His kingship lie in the future.

I'm glad of that Drew, because the future time of Christ's reign on earth in direct Presence with His elect priests and kings has not yet come today. That's to be a time when the wicked on this earth are totally subdued, when all shall bow the knee to Christ Jesus as Lord, as written. It's also when He will return to this earth the way He ascended up into Heaven (Acts 1; Zech.14). When God said He must reign until He has made all His enemies His footstool, that doesn't mean allowing the evil that's going on in this present earth age.

Also, there are to be physical earth changes that appear with Christ's return to take rule upon this earth. The earthly sanctuary Ezekiel was given by vision is to come to this earth where Christ's servants will reign with Him from. The River of Ezekiel 47 is also to manifest on this earth, along with the many trees on each side of it. That's not simply a spiritual metaphor, it's going to happen as written, just as that River coming out from God's Garden of Eden to feed four other rivers on the earth is written of in Genesis 2.

So where you and I seem to differ the most, is with how God manifests His Kingdom on earth in the literal sense vs. a spiritual sense only. Even today, His servants on earth represent His Kingdom, but does it have complete and total rule over the nations today? No, and that's one of the major differences with Christ's de facto coming reign. That will be when we see an end to the practices of occult pagan worship, the end of Communism and Socialist doctrine, then end of Fascism, the end murder, war, i.e., the end of Satan's control given in this earth age.

Well, if you mean that Jesus is yet to be here in person, enacting his Kingship directly and personally, then who would argue with that? Not me.

But the Scriptures are clear - Jesus is presently a sitting king, even if not directly present to us.

I agree with your point, but I do not agree that Zechariah 14 is about the future - it has already been fulfilled as I will argue in a later post.

I do not believe that the present kingship of Jesus is "spiritual only". That idea is a post-enlightenment invention that would be totally unknown to the Hebrew mind.

Obviously, I agree that Jesus does not "control" all the nations right now. But this does not mean that He is not King - it merely means that a lot of his subjects do not recognize or accept this. This should not be surprise us.

veteran said:

As far as I can see, all the Biblical evidence points to Satan no longer being a ruler in any sense. He was a "ruler", but that all changed on the cross:

When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, 14having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him.

Now, can you explain to me how Satan has not been "disarmed" and "kicked off the throne"?
