Both James and Paul preach against having our own faith alone to save us.

James
{2:14} What [doth it] profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
{2:17} Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

Our on faith to be saved by, without having works, is dead faith and salvation God. James preaches against having faith that is alone to save us.

Eph
{2:8} For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:

Our own faith to be saved by, is not the gift of saving faith from God. Paul preaches against having faith that is of our own to save us.

James and John preach against being justified and loving God, not by works.

James
{2:14} What [doth it] profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? {2:15} If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, {2:16} And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what [doth it] profit?

Having faith and not works, profits no man to be justified by God.

1 John
{3:17} But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels [of compassion] from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? {3:18} My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

Having faith and not works, has no love of God to justify him.

No man is justified by Christ, if he does not the works of God, and no man is saved by Christ, if he have not the love of God.

Only those doing the will of God by the faith of Jesus, are justified by loving God and our neighbors.

Galatians
{2:16} Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Revelation
{14:12} Here is the patience of the saints: here [are] they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

The unrighteous Jews seek righteousness by their own works of the law alone. The unjust Christians seek justification by their own faith alone.

Our own faith does not save us. Our own works do not justify us.

Who preaches righteousness of works, NOT by having the faith of Jesus? The unbelieving Jews.

Who preaches righteousness of faith, NOT by doing the works of Jesus Christ? The sinning Christians.

No one is righteous and justified with God, by NOT having the faith of Jesus, nor by NOT doing the works of Jesus Christ.

James is the apostle, that both Paul and John agree with. And James is the apostle, that sinful Christians argue against.

James
{4:7} Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. {4:8} Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse [your] hands, [ye] sinners; and purify [your] hearts, [ye] double minded.

Man is saved through faith and not by works (Romans 4:5-6; Ephesians 2:8,9; Titus 3:5; 2 Timothy 1:9); yet genuine faith is (evidenced) by works. (James 2:14-26)

*Christ saves us through faith based on the merits of His finished work of redemption "alone" and not based on the merits of our works.* (Romans 3:24-28)

It is through faith "in Jesus Christ alone" (and not based on the merits of our works) that we are justified on account of Christ (Romans 4:5-6; 5:1; 5:9); yet the faith that justifies does not remain alone (unfruitful, barren) if it is genuine. (James 2:14-26) *Perfect Harmony*

Man is not saved by good works.

Man is not saved by works of righteousness.

Man is not saved by the works of the law.

Man is saved by obeying the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God? 1 Peter 4:17

But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “LORD, who has believed our report?” Romans 10:16

in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 1:8

do they?

James called that faith dead. non existent. had no life.

we are saved by faith.. If we do nto have faith. we are nto saved.

that is what James was trying to show them
Eph
{2:8} For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:

Our own faith to be saved by, is not the gift of saving faith from God. Paul preaches against having faith that is of our own to save us.
He does?

Paul teaches over and over our faith is what Gods grace came through.

There is no such things as faith apart from works. Again, The context of james. Hearers and no doers.
1 John

we are saved by grace THROUGH faith. not by works.

we are not even saved by faith, we are saved by grace. However, god will not force it on you. You must recieve it in Faith (See also John 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 as well as many other passages which show this truth

Man is saved by obeying the gospel which is choosing to believe the gospel. (Romans 1:16; 10:16) Not to be confused with multiple acts of obedience/good works/works of righteousness which follow.
