EXACTLY!!

When I played baseball we had MVP (most valuable player). Anothey kid and I were in a struggle to get it every year. It was good for competetition, learning, and self esteem. Not everyone's trophy's looked the same or were the same size.

NOW, everyone gets a 'participation' trophy!! :eeeekkk The kid that rarely shows up for practice gets the same trophy as the kid that practiced for 10hrs a week to do his best, the one that hits the home runs and makes the plays. :nono2

At school. Kids have to give birthday invitations to EVERYONE in the class or no one at all. What kind of kid is friends with EVERYONE in his or her class? :eeeekkk

Communists!! :D

This is an unreasonable knee-jerk reaction to a legitimate problem in our society.

This 'talent search' mentality in the nation today is sickening. It goes back to what's wrong with mankind. By nature we measure everyone's worth by what they contribute to OUR pleasure and satisfaction. Those who can't make a worthwhile contriubution to that end are marginalized and pushed aside as worthless and burdensome.

It's not too terribly different in the church. The gifted, charasmatic ones are the ones who are sought after and who get praised and exalted. James talks about this in his much misused and misunderstood sermon about 'love your neighbor as yourself' in James 2. When we dole out our love and attention according to the value of the person receivning it that is called favortism. That is a sin. Plain and simple.

Nothing wrong with 'talent search' in and of itself. It's what our self-absorbed, over-fed, spoiled society has twisted it into. Sickening, I tell you! Sickening!

Okay, okay...

You get the "I participated in the ChristianForums.net discussion today" award (along with all the rest of us).

Bravo! Way to go 'winner'.

There. Feel better? :wave

I'm a lonely sojourner in a land that use to be, but is no more to me. I am fearful of my predators, but protected by my Lord. Shall I speak with words of kindness to the faces I never see or walk in tolerance of the ignorance of those who be.

I know who I am and that's all I need as the rest of this world in ignorance will be. When the moon gives up it's light and the days grow dark then my Savior will end this sojourning Lark.

Lol, I looked back to see why I would get this kind of a reaction from you.

I should have been more careful to show that the "this" in "This is an unreasonable knee-jerk reaction to a legitimate problem in our society." is in reference to the OP and all this PC nonsense, not your post.

My bad.

To make it up to you, you also are being awarded an "I participated in the ChristianForums.net discussion today" award. It'll look good on your refrigerator (mine does).

Now we are all a like...:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p

And she'll tell two friends...:p:p

...and they'll tell two friends...:p:p:p:p:p:p

...and they'll tell two friends...:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:

...and so on...

...and so on...

I have no idea what it has to do with the OP...that's just what got forced into my mind by your post.

I thought everybody knew who Nancy was:

JB, you cannot be serious. A certificate? A paper certificate? How are reba and Brian supposed to live knowing others were given a trophy. And not just any trophy, because they know darn well some members got the big silvers trophy.

Reba and Brian, calm down before you hurt yourselves... STOP HITTING YOURSELVES!!

JB, are you going to stand by and not give them a big silver trophy while they punch themselves in the face?

Brian and reba, you two are tied for the very best members in the history of CFnet, so you get the very biggest and best trophy.

Don't over-think the image of the trophy. It's big and it's silver!

:toofunny
