Pork

I am justified by faith, not law. I am sanctified and purified by Yeshua, not law. Abstaining from swine's flesh is a fruit of my justification by faith, not the means to it. Edited by staff

I know and am convinced by the Lord Jesus that there is nothing unclean of itself... but to him who considers anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean.15 Yet if your brother is grieved because of your food, you are no longer walking in love. Do not destroy with your food the one for whom Christ died.16 Therefore do not let your good be spoken of as evil; 17 for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. 18 For he who serves Christ in these things is acceptable to God and approved by men.
Romans 14:14-18

Key phrases concerning food:

  • I know and am convinced by the Lord Jesus that there is nothing unclean of itself.
  • for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
  • Do not destroy with your food the one for whom Christ died.
  • For he who serves Christ in these things is acceptable to God and approved by men.

The text actually reads, "... that there is nothing common of itself... but to him who considers anything to be common, to him it is common." It is the same word used in Acts 10:14 where Peter made a distinction between "common" or "unclean". These are two different categories of things. A piece of clean meat that fell on the ground may be considered common in someone's mind, so they won't eat it, but unclean meat was created unclean by Yahweh. Therefore, a person cannot consider something that Yahweh declared unclean as being edible.

I'm sorry I started this thread.
It was thoughtless and selfish of me.
If the moderators want to close this thread, I'm fine with that.
Mea culpa.

YHWH, the Lord Jesus, purified all foods.

because it does not enter his heart but his stomach, and is eliminated, thus purifying all foods?” Mark 7:19

Paul, who learned from Jesus Christ, made this statement:

I know and am convinced by the Lord Jesus that there is nothing unclean of itself...

unclean of itself is clear,
and certainly does not pertain to a piece of meat that fell on the ground.

Pork meat,
in and of itself is not unclean.

It is good neither to eat meat nor drink wine nor do anything by which your brother stumbles or is offended or is made weak.22 Do you have faith? Have it to yourself before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves. 23 But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat from faith; for whatever is not from faith is sin. Romans 14:21-23

Which one has faith?

The one who by faith in Jesus Christ is sanctified?
or
The one who refrains from eating pork because the law of Moses forbids it?

I'll give you a hint: The law is not of faith. Galatians 3:12

Ancient Biblical Proverbs - a great way to get around the TOS - it's called a loophole.
"Like one who takes a dog by the ears Is he who passes by and meddles with strife not belonging to him." (Proverbs 26:17 NASB)
There....feel better?

When you step into topics that sharply divide the church you're gonna bit from one side or the other.....or both if you're as slow and dull witted as I think you are.

Well, if that the way you feel about, then shut up and get lost!
Oh, that's right, you're always lost.
And you never shut up.
