[__ Prayer __] Revival is breaking out !

Loud and anointed = Awesome

Loud and soulish = Not so Awesome
However, when the lyrics are not sound doctrine .many modern worship songs are not .rock and entertainment isn't worship despite the lights and lyrics .

Reverence not chaos .

Emotional reaction guided by sound doctrine .not feelings .

Exactly. One of the main issues with this “revival” is that people are coming from all over the place, apparently. But, of course, that doesn’t make it a revival. It could just be people going so they can say they were there, or they just don’t want to miss out, or, as is common in Pentecostal/charismatic circles, they’re just experience chasers and addicts.

Whatever the reason, more people showing up doesn’t mean revival. Wait and see what the fruit is is the best approach.

Anything with NAR is highly suspect.
It reminds one of “lo, he is there.”

I dunno 🤷‍♂️

Inequality is increasing all over the world. Problem is…

Somehow more billionaires always means more poverty fewer social programs less of a safety net less upward mobility and often an increasing reliance on the military and police and prisons…

Not good. At all. If I recall correctly the USA and South Africa are topping the charts with inequality and associated problems.

I don’t think anyone will know what to make of this or any revival until years later…

Changed lives are the proof to me personally. In the meantime I hope and pray it’s genuine.

You've hit the nail on the head: Changed lives are the proof of revival. Not prolonged, tearful worship, not confession of sin, not committing oneself to God, but a Spirit-transformed life. And the beginning of this transformation is repentance, a change of one's thinking, of one's mind, about one's sin, and about what is true concerning God's holiness and authority, and what "Christian living" actually is.

I fear these kids will believe they've had the "apex" experience of God in "revival" but will go away still ignorant of the actual biblical way to walk daily in communion with God, collapse into compromise and sin, and in six months from now realize that what they thought was the pinnacle of spiritual experience with God has done nothing to actually alter who they are. By this means, they become "inoculated" to the faith, believing they've had all there is to have in Christian experience, and, seeing it transient and impotent, grow profoundly cynical about the reality and power of God. That, or they become "revival junkies," searching around for another "revival" fix, crying, and "worshiping," and recommitting themselves again to God, but never moving into personal, consistent, daily fellowship with God.

So you believe God shouldnt be pouring out His Spirit upon this place?

Carnal Christians if at all.

The mundane facing the battle head on ,worn down but not giving up will produce more then anything .

I believe once someone has been touched in a powerful way by the presence of God they will forever realize they can have that as a lifestyle and continue to pursue the living God as never before.

Seeking God, and turning away from this world is what we are called to do.

These young people are continuing to go to the college chapel for just that.

The school administration has shut down classes to accommodate this.

I dunno 🤷‍♂️

I’m not anti revival. If it’s of God plenty of good will come of it. But…

The prosaic day to day realities of life don’t seem to suit some people including some Christian people which might explain the emo and straight up spectacles some groups create at times.

But high emotion, hanging out with other believers in a worship service for days on end, and watching folks confess their sin and "get right with God," isn't the biblical description of daily fellowship with God. All this revival stuff is necessary because such fellowship with God has been absent among those being "revived."

Seeking God, and turning away from this world is what we are called to do.

Amen. But when He is "found," what then? These kids can't expect what is going on at Asbury to persist permanently. Revival isn't the normal, everyday, Christian life the Bible describes. I hope spiritually-mature believers are present to guide the kids away from hyper-emotionalism and sensualism toward a genuinely spiritual experience of God as described in His word.

Uh huh.

This is the hope .
Seeking God, and turning away from this world is what we are called to do.
But we are not called out of the world . The people that are captive to the world need to see the light in us . We have to be among the lost for this to happen .

Bad move in closing classes in my opinion . Let the revived students return to class and let the revival go forth to the hurting and lost of the world !

Exactly. If what Alisa Childers said is true, and the sermon that led to this supposed revival didn't even contain the gospel message, and that progressives are supporting this supposed revival, then those are two huge red flags that this could be just hyper-emotionalism. Add to that that the NAR is supposedly getting involved, which, if true, will likely lead many astray from the gospel.

I have an uncle that is posting pictures from Asbury and you can see a number of people holding up cellphones to record or take pictures. That supports what I stated earlier that there are going to be number of people there that are either just experience chasers or want to be able to brag that they were there. A large number of people are apparently arriving from outside Asbury, which doesn't prove anything. If people are willing and able to take record and take pictures of what is going on, then it suggests there really isn't much going on spiritually in terms of revival, unless God limits his workings to those in the front half of gathering.

That's sad . I know Ted Bentley has been there.
