So the county is just as lax about the law as some of the citizens, eh! Go figure!
with code enforcement its very selective. where I work does the same thing as far as enforcement at times. at least that is how it appears. if the barrier island whiner er residents cry its fixed, but if the mainlanders cry, its dragged out.

this weekend there will be a photo shoot of that crane. I see some things I can make a statement with. nothing tree huggerish. just its story and such like.

Well, if you did decide to become a tree hugger, here's a bit of advice for you: Do not attempt to hug a Madagascar Palm!

the traveling palms and the other ones for sure. I found I do have a baby traveling palm. It was buried in that tall grass. I mowed it and there It was. I don't remember my wife getting one. I should have taken a pic.

yup just a little guy but he looks good. I actually like the triangle palms those look nice when tall.

Yes, exactly like a peacock!

Did I ever mention that there was an all white peacock that took a liking to me when I was at Scone (pronounced 'scoon') Palace in Scotland? It followed me on the grounds.... wouldn't stray very far at all. When some kids distracted it for a bit, I scooted into the chapel on the grounds, then peered around the corner of the door to see if it was still distracted. Nope, it was headed my way, looking all around in an effort to find me. You'd have thought I was a long-lost friend when it saw me in the doorway! It was a beautiful creature!

I wonder what he wanted. they are odd pets. I have heard of pet peacocks.

man if I wasn't rushing today as its a long route. I could have gotten a few good pics of vultures fighting on top of a lamp while below a sandhill crane was resting his wings.

An older gent (with a lovely Scottish accent) inside the palace had watched from one of the windows. He later told me that white peacocks have a lengthy history in medieval lore, connected with Christianity. He asked if I was a Christian, to which of course I said 'yes'. He said if I were to remain at Scone, the peacock would be my protector. I thought it was interesting.

I have seen peacocks in Afghanistan.

They are fascinating to watch. I have to admit I was surprised they could fly into trees to roost. My background didn't include peacocks as pets.

I grew up around those as whenever I would walk to the bus stop at Lakewood village( it was a parking lot) those would be all males with a few females once in a while) that would dance and also would sit on the wooden fence.

That would have been so cool to see!

They make great guard birds, I'm told.

I haven't seen one in ages. they used to be common to see, I saw one about three years ago. they have territories.

I can see where they could be territorial.

It's sad they're not common any more in your area .... but a fast moving Chevy could do a peacock real damage ......
