Salvation by grace through faith; not through works / law-keeping.

We are to forgive anyone, however the subject and context of the verse I gave involves two brothers in Christ, which by default mean are two brothers who love and have eternal life abiding in them.
If one of them hates, he is not a brother in Christ.

I don't see that.
And I won't use your POV to deny forgiveness to others.

You don’t see the two brothers in Christ, mentioned in this verse?

Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. 1 John 3:15

  • Whoever hates his brother

Whoever = one brother
his brother = another brother
How could you “not see” two different brothers are being mentioned here.

Secondly, this verse involves brothers, not random people.

  • Whoever hates his brother

“his” brother is clearly referring to two “brothers”.

his = a brother

brother = his brother

Finally, we know John is referring to brothers in Christ, because these are instructions to Christians, not people of the world who are lost and do not have the ability to love, which refers to keeping His commandments.

Why would you imagine that people of the world are instructed by apostles of Christ to obey the instructions of Jesus Christ if their lord s Satan?

Context for 1 John 3:15 —

John is writing to Christians, brothers in Christ —

Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. 1 John 3:1-3

John continues his instructions to brothers in Christ and contextually refers to “brothers in Christ” in verse 15 —

Do not marvel, my brethren, if the world hates you. We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death.

Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 1 John 3:13-16

How can anyone read the contextual framework surrounding verse 15 and not “see” that John is referring to “brothers in Christ”, or “the brethren”.

Do you believe the brethren refers to the unsaved?

If one of them hates, he is not a brother in Christ.

If one of them hates, he NO LONGER has eternal life abiding in him.

Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. 1 John 3:15

No murderer has eternal life remaining in him.

For eternal life to remain in a person, they must have eternal life in them, in the first place.

I have brother food bank volunteers who are not Christians.

I have brother humans who hold elected offices who are not converted.
You are my brother.

Are you posting this in order to allow us to hate folks who are not of the Church By Christ Jesus (Eph 3:21) ?

If one of them hates, he NO LONGER has eternal life abiding in him.
He obviously never had eternal life abiding in him, as those with eternal life, the seed of God, a divine nature, and the Spirit of God in them, are the ones who don't hate.

Christians who sin must confess their sin to be forgiven.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

God's seed cannot bring forth liars, murderers, thieves, molesters, drunks, etc.

You see it your way, but I include all humans under the "brother" umbrella.

You can see it anyway you like.

Im addressing what the scripture says, and the obvious context.

If they sin they are not Christians.
God's seed cannot bring forth liars, murderers, thieves, molesters, drunks, etc.

Again, Christians who sin only need to confess their sin, and be forgiven and cleansed.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9

The seed is planted in the heart, not man's flesh.

Therefore hear the parable of the sower: When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside.
Matthew 13:18-19

The flesh is not born again.

You do understand that man's flesh body contains sin, which is why Paul instructs us to walk according to the Spirit, and not the flesh.

He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. Romans 8:3-4

Men have to confess their sins just to become a Christian.
They can't walk in God, the light, with sin on them.
And they can't say they have fellowship with God if they have sin on them.

Will you forgive someone in traffic for sinning against you, even if they just drive away?

I have and I will. Forgiveness is a command not an option.

Again, the scripture I quoted involves two brothers in Christ.

Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. 1 John 3:15

One of the brothers in Christ began to hate his brother for whatever reason.

Maybe his brother got the promotion he wanted.

Maybe his brother won the raffle he wanted to win.

Maybe his brother is respected by his children and he is not.

But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, Raca!’ shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire. Matthew 5:22

But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause

Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. 1 John 3:15

Maybe a person hates his brother in Christ because of an issue he himself has, and nothing at all his brother did…

Without a cause…

Now I believe the one who is hated will need to forgive the one who hates, nevertheless the one who hates his brother no longer has eternal life remaining in him.

If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.

But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

  • The blood of Jesus cleanses those who walk in the light.

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. 1 John 1:6-10

If we as Christians confess our sins He is faithful and justified in His actions of forgiving and cleansing us from all of our unrighteousness.

My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. 1 John 2:1-2

18Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against any of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself.c I am the LORD.

How can a brother "in Christ" hate?

John juxtaposes those who walk in darkness-sin against those who walk in the light-God.
He uses alternating verses that apply to only one side or the other.
Those walking in darkness cannot say they have fellowship with God, (v6), and they cannot say they have no sin, (v8), and they cannot say they have never sinned, (v10).
If those who walk in darkness-sin are actually in the light-God, then sin is in God.
That just can't happen.

You're mixing the old and new covenants. Romans was written after Jesus' sacrifice and the giving of the Holy Spirit. Matthew's gospel was written before Jesus' sacrifice and the giving of the Holy Spirit. Because of Jesus' sacrifice, all sins have been forgiven.
Make no mistake Jay, Christians have commandments 1 Jn 5:3
